    Thanks for sharing what the professional stylist had to say regarding BGC and curly cuts. My hair is thriving since I went and had my hair cut blown out in May. My hair has retained length and is fuller. After seeing the issues your hair experienced I took a hard look at my fine strands. My hair needs DC, and leave Ins. My hair thrives with twist outs. Most important I’ve taken back my power!! I refuse to feel bad for not desiring to wear a wash & go. Plus the cost was ridiculous ($300) a session because I was never approved for just a curly cut. On a positive note weekly shampooing, conditioning and styling has changed my life for the better.

      Yes. I only do twists outs and was start to feel judged about not doing wash and gos. But now I will continue to do them without questioning myself. I always deep conditioned but not use leave ins. as a result of all of this, I started incorporating them again. Just got a trim and will see if I notice a difference on the ends

    This video depicts the hair issues I am currently experiencing. The stylist stylist mentioned some crucial events that leads to the issues I am currently experiencing.
    I am just confused because now I question why other stylists didn’t see the writing on the wall.
    I also noticed removing the gels from my hair revealed new details.
    This is a very frustrating situation and it sometimes leads me to hate doing my hair currently.
    Dickey of Hair rules and also the stylist that currently cuts my hair straight have a similar concept of how curly cuts work.
    I initially realized my hair was damaged in April after receiving my yearly silk press.
    These videos are to educate so we don’t make the same mistakes.
    I desire healthy hair and I have an upcoming video sharing journey and communication with the stylist.
    I want you guys to judge whether or not I did my due diligence in communicating.

    I am glad your hair is on the mend. Beyond the 30 day hair detox, BGC method didn't sit well with me. I think clarifying or even chleating the hair every so often is great for everyone's hair. My stylist was an apprentice under Dickey who owns Hair Rules and she has always trimmed and shaped my hair blown out. She is the first person who showed me how to do a wash n go. My stylist has never been anti oils, butters, protein treatments, deep conditioners,leave ins or bond rebuilders. She doesn't care if oils or butters are in the first 5 ingredients of my products. I see her every season to trim/dust and shape my hair. My wash n gos last till wash day with a leave in underneath and I don't always diffuse until 75% or more dry either. I am relieved I didn't fall for the hype or pay for any of their content. It saddens me how many women's hair has been damaged, all the money they have spent with products and stylists and the manner in which they are being bullied or gaslit.

      I am happy you didn’t as well. Because even though some are not coming forward they are having issues. I watched them gaslight their audience on a live yesterday.
      People were complaining that their hair was tangled and they do as they normally do asking did you make the stylist cut enough? When was your last cut?
      So it’s very interesting.

    Nice video! It’s very disheartening because I feel these CIK stylist are aware and were just using us as a means to get their bag and damage our hair in the process. I know watching this unfolding is an eye opener. It will be very difficult for me to trust curly cuts stylist in particular. I have watched them do lives after lives on Instagram trying to convince people that they in fact these cuts are still taking care of the split ends. The cuts as Anthony Dickey said is a half of a hair cut 😞!

    It is great that you are sharing this voiceover. The stylist is sharing some real gems; things that will be beneficial to anyone whether they receive curly cuts or not, but especially for those who get curly cuts. I especially enjoyed what she said about how some people treat others when their choices for their hair are different. In that respect, our community does need to improve as well.
    Personally, I'll continue to care for my hair the way I always have since I did not adopt the idea of not using a leave-in or d/c. Admittedly I don't d/c frequently but I do as needed, and I always use leave-in. I never had any intention of getting a curly cut even though I thought they were cute they did not fit into my aesthetic as a long-haired natural. There was nothing anyone could say that would change my mind about my choice to wear long hair so I was safe in that respect.

    I don’t use gels at all on my hair botanical or otherwise. Now I use a leave-in or curl cream along with a foam to set my hair. Believe it or not my hair is thriving 🥰🥰. The foam gives me a soft set with hold and it lasts seven days. I typically wash my hair on the eighth day and I’m pretty consistent with that. So I agree, try giving up gel for a month if you don’t like your hair without gel you can always go back after a month.

    What a great video! Very informative especially the part about breaking down the lipid barrier of hair! I also like her skin comparison. I’ve been following this issue with BGC since I to followed them. Very interesting my stylist is not on their list just someone who I’ve been using she’s given me great curly cuts, so far but next week I’m getting my hair blownout to check with another stylist. So hopefully all is well , we shall see. 😬 I’m sorry you suffered damage but I am happy that a light is being shined for all to evaluate what they’re doing, using and how it’s affecting their hair. I just want healthy hair, I don’t really care about length so much. We all want our hair doing it’s best! Also a blog I have followed for years has some great gems in troubleshooting natural hair routines, it’s called “Science-y Hair Blog” she’s a chemist and has so many great gems about ingredients and natural hair she been around for awhile but not to many know! Hi Rosie, I agree about the gels. I stopped using gels weekly a few months ago because my hair was shedding and I know that it was because of the gels back to back (too harsh on the hair) without the leave in conditioner. My stylist recommended using crème gels . I experimented with the creams and crème gels with twists outs and noticed the difference. The shedding stopped! Now, I do wash-n-go’s maybe twice a month with gels and a leave in. Good video!

I had to relearn with natural hair. But I’ve learned to blow the to trim (Revair) and give it some slight shape. It may take me a little longer, because I’m very careful. I enjoy it and take it as a part of my natural hair spa day, every 3 months. I just don’t think anyone knows my hair, including what needs to come off, more than me. Very insightful & informative video! But why don't more professionals speak up, if they know what's going on? ‼It's disheartening how some of these professionals are just moving on with leaving so many questions unanswered. I check my hair regularly product free & also check the feeling & behaviour of the naked hair, because it really shows the real condition of my hair. That's why I can't emphasize reading the back of the Ingredient list more than ever. I've now made these personal tweaks: If gels contain no emollients and are just filled with water, humectants & thickeners, it's crucial to add something to seal in the moisture which should be the leave-in/moisturiser/cream. If gels contain a few emollients, I'll read what instructions say, if it doesn't advise any sort of leave-in, I'll test it first a few times and will observe my product free hair. If it's getting drier than usual, it's an indication to better use a leave-in. If the gel is less translucent with a higher emollient content moving towards a cream styler, I won't add a leave-in because I'm kind of already using a two in one styler.

I do prefer the twisting cream because my hair held onto moisture and felt better overall. I also had more volume vs using the mousse/ foams.
      If you give it a try let me know if your hair feels differently.
      I was chatting with my sister and she has such healthy beautiful hair. She uses a leave in under all her wash and go always. She has beautiful defined wash and go and my niece has hip length hair.
      She has taken the time to educate herself on how to care for our hair .

    Thanks for sharing this information. I do wish each and everyone a healthy hair recovery journey. I had made the decision when this came on the scene that I was going to continue with my fundamental hair routine. One that includes regular deep conditioning, professional trims (blow out hair), along with using a leave in conditioner when styling. Knowing what I knew, I personally could not understand /accept not having a leave in prior to styling.

    I consider myself a professional with my own hair because I have always done my own hair and cuts. I have been natural for 10 years and have always cut my hair blown out simply because that is the only way I could give myself a good haircut!

      🙌🏾, I just reclaimed my license , as soon as I get that big chop I will be caring for my hair and go back to getting my professional trims . Because before I never had this issues and only cut my hair because I wanted to not because of damage.

    I have legit questions can you use regular conditioner as a deep conditioner?
    And the other question is if chemically a conditioner and leave in are very similar just one has more conditioning agents, can't you just go straight to the leave in 🤔 what's the point of using a conditioner and a leave in?
    Disclaimer I don't care about bgc or cik per say.
    I just am trying to make sense of stuff I pick up through the grapevine. So I can make informed choices 😭
    Thank you for sharing very informative 👏

      I heard you can but I am team deep conditioners till my hair regains and is back to being healthy then I will make adjustments. I use a leave in conditioner. And a styler.

      @@caribqueen63 I also use a leave in under my gel I feel my hair lasts longer with the leave in vs. Without and is more defined, I use curls blueberry bliss or. Mielle avocado hair milk

    I can't really agree that curly cuts and the BGC method causes damage. I'm starting to believe it is the actual stylist level. I don't think it's right to make a blanket statement. I agree there probably needs to be some tweaking and I personally will try the blown method cut to see how my hair reacts. I've had damage as well previously.

    TFS…question, if hair out of our scalp is dead, how can something ‘dead’ absorb anything? 🤔 Thanks, this is a serious question

    • @RabielleParfait
      @RabielleParfait 10 месяцев назад +2

      Hair is dead as your nails but can it be strong & grow with best potential? Yes. Can it be weak & brittle? Yes. Technically speaking, all the different hair strands growing out of your entire body are dead once they poke out of your skin. 💀 But that’s not the entire truth, those dead cells we like to call cuticles are filled with/surrounded by proteins. They give protection to the inner layers of the hair shaft. Those proteins are held together by chemical bonds. If hair gets damaged, it needs more things to balance what’s been chipped away. You get this with emollients that lubricate/moisturise & conditioners that adsorb on the hair. They fill those gaps to prevent the exposed inner layers to get damaged. If hair is damaged internally, it can require things to rebuild the bonds to strengthen the proteins, hence the bond builders in the market. Hair can also absorb liquids like water, amino acids... That’s what we call porosity. High = too much water gets in and so on. 😌

      Deep conditioner, leave in and it might take up to 6-9 months to regain that hydration I believe she said.

    We’re not monolithic, we all think differently. Loved the info from this stylist. I’m still getting curly cuts and I still only do wash and goes. I don’t like blow outs or presses. Maybe I’ll try not using botanical gels for 30days but I’m not having webbing. Did you use a leave in when you removed the gels?

    • @rosieamelia5955
      @rosieamelia5955  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I need a leave in and I use a cream twisting ( tried Nature little secret amazing & UFD super curls both gave me amazing results.) some might just need a leave in base on hair elements.

    • @symply_chan
      @symply_chan 10 месяцев назад +3

      @caribqueen63 Yes you can use a leavein under these gels. Make sure the gel does not have too much oils to affect the hold of the gels.
      I use kinky curly knot today under ufd &ich or just with ich and my sets last for the week with definition on washday. But longevity is different for everyone base on hair, environment and lifestyle.

      Thank you for answering 😄. Yes that’s the leave in my sister uses under ICH or just test it what you have at hand. If you are concerned about sets lasting use a small amount and start there. I normally record in my diary and adjust as the weeks follow

    Also, please listen to your stylist. Sometimes we as clients don’t want to hear that our hair needs to be cut due to split ends. We want to “hang on” to our length, knowing that it is “raggedy “.

      Rosie is not one to hold on to hair she has already cut over 5 inches. Maybe you should check out dickies video he posted yesterday. He shed light as being a professional on curly cuts.

      So my stylist is amazing, She examines the hair. She shares with you what needs to go and then it’s up to the client to make the final decision.
      I can only talk for myself but I am not one to hold on to hair. I always tell the stylist to cut what needs to go. I also enjoy a short cut and from time to time just cut it for a preference.
      But yes sometimes there are individual that are not keen on cutting their hair and that’s a personal decision.
      Please check out Dickey video on Curly cuts, he explains exactly what is happening.
      Enjoy your day

      I personally have always allowed as much to be cut to be cut! Matter of fact, looking back I’ve probably had more cut each time than was actually needed.
      Lastly, I went from waist length hair to getting my nose shaved with clippers. So for myself I feel I’ve definitely let enough be cut. Anymore and I would have been bald! 👀🤣
      Just my 2 cents. 💖

    What’s webbing?

    • @rosieamelia5955
      @rosieamelia5955  10 месяцев назад +1

      Here is a description of what it is, but always do your research .
      If when separating, your have hair sticking together or hair stuck together like glue, you have what’s called “Hair Webbing”
      Hair webbing is an issue that can be caused by many factors. One reason may be that your hair is not properly hydrated. If not corrected, your hair may begin to form more tangles, single knots, then snap and break.
      Also if you have this you will know.
