This is the most crystal clear explanation of the concept of resistance I have come across till now. Thank you so much Sir 🌼 Thank you for explaining it comprehensible manner. Awesome 🎉
This is my first time learning about Foucault's basic concept of power and resistance. I am writing my literature thesis which discusses how the female characters in Eka Kurniawan's Beauty Is A Wound and Amy Tan's The Valley of Amazement resist sexual objectification. Yes, learning about Foucault is still challenging for me (who uses English as foreign language) but I will try. Thank you for your explanation video, Dr. Masood Raja! Your channel is my favorite place to learn about fundamental literary theories! Stay healthy and happy always, Sir. 😁
Hello I bought your course on literary theory on udemy, I received two confirmation emails, one from you and another from udemy itself, but the course doesn't show up. Please help find it. Thanks
Thank you. I am sorry. I have no control over that. Since Udemy sells those courses, they are the ones who can help with any issues related to the courses. I will, however, let them know of the problem.
I see that you are showing up as a student in the course. I will let Udemy know of your access problem but please contact them directly as well, as they are the only ones who can fix this problem.
@@azharulhaq1767 Just log in your Udemy account and see if there is a link for help. It’s just like any other service you purchase. Obviously, you have to contact Udemy, as they are the ones who sold the course to you. I have no control over how they distribute the courses.

Would you ever be interested in breaking down Capitalism and Schizophrenia by Gilles Deleuze? I just read Nietzsche and Philosophy, so I'm slowly making my way through his works. This definitely helps a bit but would love to see your breakdown of their works. Been subscribed for awhile and love your work. Thank you as always!
@@masoodraja that's a totally valid response. Reading Nietzsche and Philosophy, I can see have a Deleuzean reading of Nietzschean philosophy influenced Foucault. I'm more familiar with Foucault, but I'm trying my hands at Deleuze. Right now my informal research (although I've been applying it to my studies now that I'm back in school) is on Oshawa working-class culture. I'm trying to revive the history of the General Motors Strike of 1937 as a means of genealogically tracing a sort of working-class consciousness or a working-class culture. Reading Henri Lefebvre right now though because I'm interested in the production of space and linking that to memory (Gastón Gordillo). So much theory to explore and apply to my city's history. I feel like this is a way I can resist as a working class settler in academia. I've been going through your videos for inspiration.
Sir could you please differentiate between Agency and resistance? Though the agency is problematic in postmodern era since the postmodern theories put agency into the background n ideologies take the central stage yet resistance too may have those ideological backings. 2nd q. How is Lacanian Agency different from that of Foucault's?
Thank you. Obviously I cannot answer these questions in comments. But any resistance would presuppose a certain degree of agency and none of the philosophers, even Foucault and Deleuze, deny agency; they just want us to understand the larger forces that also determine our role in the world. I will see if done day I can record something on it. But you seem to be on the right track so keep reading.
@@masoodraja thanks for the detailed reply. If you could spare some time to record a video on these perspectives, it would help us understand the nuances of postcolonial, postmodern and psychoanalytic agency.
Sir i am a research scholar working on Palestine as my area. Where i ama looking how Israel as bios and Palestine as Zoe and they are trying to superess the Arabs and the resistance from women using womb as their weapon. Would you please comment on his ur valuable option. Its a humble request 🙏
Thank you. You don’t need my opinion. Just a little bit of research will reveal to you a wealth of scholarship on the subject. I clearly see the role of power and resistance in Palestine but I would recommend start with Said and Gelvins books on the issue.

i guess it is sometimes hard to tell whether it is the persona or poet talking.... is it right?
Yes, but I think it is important to keep in mind the distinction between the two.

Democracy or education which one is important?
I think both are important.

@@masoodraja thank you so sir. But the concept of bios and zoe is it possible to apply in this area sir
It’s entirely up to you: after you understand the concepts you should be able to decide whether you can use it or not. But read Agamben first.
I am in love :)
Thank you.
