  • Texas weather has been unusually chilly this spring. Generally, by now the spawn would have either been almost over or definitely happening, and in a lot of places it is just beginning. A cold front moved through the evening prior to this fishing trip to Lake Tawakoni, Texas with my good buddy, Jeff. So in the morning when we hit the water, the temperature was about 38 degrees with 12-15 mph winds on the main lake. Water temps sitting right around 58 degrees.
We mainly stuck to sheltered creeks away from the main lake, and fished around rocks and stumps. Jigs and crank baits seemed to be working the best that day given the conditions. Our camera was off for the first 4.5 lber that we caught, but we managed to get some footage of this one. Enjoy!
