You almost need 2 boats- a bass boat for most days......and an 18' deep-v like we use up here in Minnesota for waves like that- like waist deep with spray guards, etc. I do a lot of walleye fishing in my 16' deep-v......and I've crossed in waves like that with my 50 horse tiller......it's pretty scary. All you can do is hang on and work with the waves as you cross and try not to do anything crazy or sudden.

Have had my AVX1980 out in unexpected 3-4 footers a few times and I can tell you, its not fun, but these boats handle it as well as a bass boat can handle chop like that. They really are impressive tin rigs and I cant wait to see what the industry does with Aluminum bass boats in the coming years. For those who have never experienced these Vexus boats. They are not you grandads tin can. They will completely change what you thought an Aluminum boat was.

If you think those are 6ft you’ve never truly experienced a 6 foot wave sorry…those are maybe 3’s at best

Ahh welcome to oklahoma, the original windy state. We have 20+ mph winds during the night and 30+ during the day! Im about ready to buy a new fishing boat and thinking hard about a multi species boat to maybe help with the waves, try to take it easy on my poor spine! LOL

Bad camera angle but that is some big water you just can't tell. I've done this same run and the waves hit from all angles. 25 mph wind on that lake will sink inexperienced drivers.

The roughest water I have ever been in was back in 1985. I was 15. Me and a friend was in my dad's 15 foot bomber bass boat, don't remember the year probably mid to late 70's. We were on Bull Shoals lake in north central Arkansas. We had crossed the main lake body and we're fishing in a cove. Didn't notice the wind had picked up because we were sheltered, also couldn't see the main body because of location. When we finally decided we needed to head back we seen the white caps in the main channel. We should have stayed put. But we decided to cross. What I remember most was going down in the trough of the wave and not being able to see anything but water. No shoreline no trees, nothing but water until we got to the crest of the next wave. Needles the say life jackets were on tight that day. We jus went slow and steady. Finally made it across. My dad and uncle went out toward the main channel looking for us in another boat. He said he could see us when we were on the crest of the waves and then we would disappear until the next one would bring us back up in sight. Will never forget that day.

I'm sorry--- I didn't see anything that remotely looked close to 6' swells. After you said "it got worse", the boat went faster & never lost the horizon. That's not 6 footers. This looked like maybeeee 2 footers. 3' max.

Didn’t even have to stow your rods, left them on deck. Not that rough if you can do that. Trade that tin boat in for a Phoenix if you want a better rough water ride.

Dont bother coming to lake erie. they are not even capping consistently . trim it down and increase your speed , trim it down bit. get on top dont ride the troughs. Drive that boat dude!
