    Doorly's 12 is hands down the best bang for your buck in the Rum world! Same distillery as Foursquare. If you got the dough though pretty much all Foursquare expressions are amazing!

      This one I liked quite a bit, but not enough to shell out the big bucks for. I find that I would rather go to a whiskey than go back to it personally. However that Plantation overproof? I might have to go buy that one to have around. Wild, funky and tasty!
      Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃

      Yes I can find Doorlys 12 for $29.99 by me, and it’s really excellent. Great entry point for introducing my friends to rum as well

    Mount Gay Black Barrel has always impressed me. Beyond that I just know to stay away from Captain Morgan and all that stuff lol but I am known to take a pull from some Sailor Jerry from time to time haha

    • @yourdrinkingbuddy
      @yourdrinkingbuddy  Год назад

      I have a bottle of Sailor Jerry at home to mix with, but I find I rarely crave rum cocktails. I feel like I would prefer a whiskey or gin cocktail 99 times out of 100.

    I think Foursquare's 12 year old vintage rums are hard to beat, they're ex-bourbon casked, 120 proof, all natural by law, here they run $10 more than the Indelible, and their distribution in my area is slim but I did buy both the 2009 and 2010, the 2010 is very good but the 2009 has it when you blind them.

      Luckily, I have Marco at Nana's Kitchen here that has been in some of my videos. He sells a ton of foursquare, and anytime I want it, I can simply just ask.
      But I find that I would rather spend that kind of money on a nice whsikey personally.

    I’ll second the recommendations for Doorlys 12 and El Dorado 12! RL Seale 10 from Foursquare distillery is also excellent.

    Try another foursquare if you get a chance. IMO the indelible is the worse one. 2009 and 2010 or both good and not crazy prices. Foursquare touchstone recently came out and is also good but quite pricey.

    • @yourdrinkingbuddy
      @yourdrinkingbuddy  Год назад +1

      This one was good, but not something I would go back to for the price. I will do this. My friend Marco gets Foursquare all the time.

    I hope this includes foursquare!!! I just got a 2007 and it is superb. 120 proof, aged in Jd barrels for 12 years, so tasty! Other than that I don’t know shit about rum, except I drank 151 in college one time and still regret it haha.

      It sure does! It is a 96 proof, 11 year old rum from Barbados.

    I am not a rum fan at all. Even rum finished whiskies that I have tried, I just don’t enjoy. But I came across something yesterday that you may be able to give me some guidance on. Do you have an email you use for people on here? It what very interesting. Cheers DB

      I agree. Not a fan of rum finished whiskeys either. These pours were a nice change of pace, but likely not something I would want to go back to.

    I do get that funky acetone nose on my foursquare 14yr but not on palette. I think it’s just what rum smells like haha.

    • @yourdrinkingbuddy
      @yourdrinkingbuddy  Год назад +1

      I got it on 3 of the 4 on the nose, but your right. It isn't there much or at all in the pallet. Still not sure rum can compare to whiskey for me but I think i can say these were in the ball park of good anejo tequila for sure.

    I have very limited experience with rum. Bacardi 101 & Bacardi Black as a youth (not really quality stuff). I recently tried a Flor de Cana No. 7 (80 proof) and it wasn't that impressive (very thin, mostly just alcohol taste not a lot of other flavors). I'd love to try something with some more flavor without spending a fortune, but I kind of feel like you because there are tons of other whiskies I'd like to try. Maybe will see if I can hunt down that Diplomatico.
    Would love to see your take on limoncello (I have no experience, but am curious) or even Amaretto (I've had two or three of those).

    • @yourdrinkingbuddy
      @yourdrinkingbuddy  Год назад +1

      The diplomatico was nice and under $40 and available at Total wine.
      I wont run out and buy it because there are more whiskeys to try!

    Where's the Jamaican rum? Appleton 12 year is pretty nice at a reasonable price, bottled at 43%. It brings a good amount of oak and funk. Smith & Cross navy strength has a nice proof and a great funk. It's geared towards cocktails but i like it neat. Hampden Estate makes a nice 7 year cask strength ~120 proof. I suppose you'll either love or hate the Jamaican funk.

    • @yourdrinkingbuddy
      @yourdrinkingbuddy  Год назад +1

      The OFTD Overproof is Jamacan, and it was easily my favorite of the bunch. I think I like that funk.

      @xiamengbaby Год назад +1

      @yourdrinkingbuddy the plantation oftd is a blend of Jamaican, Barbados, and Guyana rums. I think you'll like that Smith & Cross, pure Jamaican, a little more funky, but not as hot on the palate as the OFTD.

    Just got a Myers Rum aged in Sazerac Casks. Pretty good but not my cup of tea. Tried an Appleton Estate 12 year rare cask, thought I was going to puke 🤮. Sound a little under the weather buddy.

      This time of the year my allergies smack me in the face 24/7.
      I think I liked all four of these but not one of them I could say I like more than any whiskeys. I am just a whiskey guy I suppose. 🤷
      Thanks for everything buddy 🥃
