Thank you Alan. I learnt from this video not only sumproduct, but also how to check the result in fomular by highlight the part and press F9 to check the result before it returns to error. As sometimes I wrote a really long fomular and don't know which part has problem. Appreicate!

been using formulas arrays and sumproduct for years; to find the unique values with sumproduct was a good one. Unfortunately when I tried in my excel version I was getting messages that a parenthesis or something was missing

Usually, I dummy up a quick data set so that I can test what you are demonstrating. I love SUMPRODUCT :) I do provide worksheets sometimes Wayne. Thank you for the suggestion. If I think the example I am demonstrating is too complex to knock up a quick demo data set I do provide one. I should maybe do it more.
When explaining the double unary, --, I think it is more helpful to state that a single unary converts the TRUE/FALSE values, but that it converts them to -1 and 0, so the second unary is required to further convert them to positive 1 and 0.

Hi does the sumproduct in your last example (which acts as vlookup) apply to a large data of 100 columns and more than 5000 rows work . I have tried severally but I have not succeeded.

Depends on the scenario. If the result is returned as a true and false, the double unary -- is used to convert them to numbers. But if the formula performs another operation such as multiply then the -- is not needed.
Haven't seen SUMPRODUCT used or explained in this way. Easy to understand and apply. Thank you

Seems like office 365 excel version don't have to put -- infront of the ()can also return number..
