Don't Forget this One Detail! How to Install LG Washer Dryer Combo in Jayco Pinnacle Fifth Wheel RV

  • This is the second RV I've installed a washer dryer combo in after purchasing, and this time I went with a compact LG ventless washer/dryer combo in my Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel. It is ventless, meaning it doesn't require an exhaust vent to the outside, so you don't have to drill through your RV's sidewall. Ventless washer dryer combos use condensing technology to dry the clothes (more popular overseas in Europe). In today's video I share my experience installing this LG Ventless Washer Dryer Combo in my Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel.
    Toward the end of the video I talk about one VERY important install detail that is often neglected and overlooked, even by RV manufacturers when they factory install a washer dryer combo in your RV. I also talk about why I opted for the less common LG model (at least in RVs) compared to the more popular Splendide models that you see most of the time installed in RVs.
    In today's video I'll make four main points:
    1) Should you go with a Vented or Ventless washer dryer combo?
    2) Why did I specifically chose LG? (over Splendide)
    3) What to expect with a washer/dryer combo in your RV
    4) Install Considerations
    Regardless, if you have any questions, or I left any details out, let me know in the comments below.

    I have to tell you that this is one of, if not the best product review videos on youtube! I despise using any kind of laundromat.. clothing comes out with stains and odors due to people washing items too filthy and pet stuff! I'm picking up a new Alliance Valor toy hauler with two washer locations, including one in the garage (so no restrictions getting it in the camper). I'm glad I found this video! >> Holy Crap! just saw the price ! ($1650)

      Pricey for sure, but it is a nice to have. And the LG does such a good job, especially on the dry cycle.

      @@AdventureRocks Yep, been studying them for quite awhile, Was not planning on buying one until the end of the year, but there's a large dealer network down south that is purging the 2022 year models. the Valor 37V13 with MSRP of $141k, advertised for $74,400 plus Tax/Dest. I knew campers had a Big markup, but I fell backwards when I saw that price! And they have several more.. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate; snatched one right up.. pick it up next week. Now have to sell the Grand Design!

    As a blind person who's considering getting one of these, there's not too many videos of what these sound like. Is it at all possible? If you can do a video of what the dryer portion sounds like.

      Great question! So right at 0:33 I started a load (wash cycle) and then it got to the dry cycle around 18:30. Hope this helps!

      @AdventureRocks Like I was wondering if at all possible? Is there Anyway, you can start a dry cycle and just film like 5 minutes of it, because you would be so surprised that L. G cannot even help me with this. They don't even have a video of their own product.

    We have same unit in our ‘22 Northpoint RLBH. Pretty happy with it. It does make it warmer inside and it does take a long time to get loads done. But it on in my opinion it’s better than putting a hole in your rig.

    This was really helpful! How did you remove the door jamb to get it into the bedroom?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +2

      Glad to hear. I took the door off first by unscrewing hinges. I think I also had to remove the striker plate if the screws run through trim completely. The door jamb is stapled/nailed into the rough opening, so if you take a pry tool and gently coax the trim out, the staples/nails will either pull out with it, or the trim will pull out of them. Just go slow and start on one end and work to the opposite as the trim is that wrapped MDF so it's kinda fragile compared to solid wood. Then you can re-attach later with small brad nails or staples (or even glue).

      I'd definitely buy it all over again. Really much better than the off brands in performance. If you want vented there are other options, but the LG is my top choice for ventless.

    No one's videos have shown how or where to hook the water to. Is this because your fifth wheel comes with it set up already!?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +1

      The water connections are identical to a house, so just hot and cold hoses with a drain tube. Most RVs have the washer/dryer prep at least, but if you don't have that already it'd be a good bit if leg work to get them after the fact. Hope this helps!

    How does your ventless affect humidity inside the rv?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +2

      I haven't noticed humidity as much as the heat. It's nothing the AC cannot keep up with to cool the bedroom down, but it is noticeable. I've never tracked humdity before/during/after though to give a definitive answer. I will say this LG does a much better job drying than a previous Magic Chef brand I owned in last RV, and I noticed the humidity much more on the Magic Chef one. The LG has really surprised me how well it performs in the condensing category.

      These aren't like a conventional dryer minus a vent hose. The technology id different, and the condensed water is contained and pumped through the drain hose.

      Could be slightly out of level on the feet, enough that the spin cycle causes it to wobble. I'd check that all four feet are making proper contact and then add those isolators at same time.

    How does it perform for drying?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад

      Actually, really good. This is my second condensing dryer combo. The first one I had was more of an off-brand and it worked okay but the clothes were always a little bit damp. With the LG they always come out completely dry, I'd say 99% as dry as a vented unit. It just takes about double the time. I've been very pleased with it.

      @@AdventureRocks so apparently I thought my mom had this exact one but she had the GE one because she lives in a condo that doesn’t have an exhaust vent and she complained that they never come out dry so she recently got the LG dryer which is basically the same thing as this but just a dedicated dryer.

    How is it with queen sized bedding

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Месяц назад +1

      We used it with king size bedding and it did just fine. I suppose there's different thicknesses of comforters, but we had a thinner fleece style blanket we used and had no issues. Issues. It's one of the larger washing machine dryer combos for the size of its footprint.

    How did you mount it to the floor or wall for rv travdl?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  2 года назад +3

      My LG is so snug between the 3 walls and then there's a small lip of trim at front that catches front right corner. Between all of that and the carpet floor + pan locked in it stays put...never had issues with it moving.

      We take delivery if the washer/dryer combo on Friday... did you ever consider put down a vibration mat... or is it pretty stable?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  2 года назад +5

      @@smabernethy I've got carpet in my closet, so kinda like a mat there to some degree? I think you could try the vibration pads if they aren't too thick? I haven't tried that in an RV so not sure the impact...would be interesting to see. Definitely leveling/fine-tuning feet made a big difference for me.
      On the delivery, not sure if I mentioned but it took me 3 different attempts before I got one undamaged. Apparently they had some serious logistical issues in their transporation/warehouses leading to the damage on #1 and #2. I also learned to test it before bringing in RV by connecting to garden hose outside as 2nd one leaked internally due to outer damage on sides...I thought it was only cosmetic and they offered to let me keep for discount, till I discovered it was also internally damaged. Was glad I tested it before bringing in as it leaked profusely during drain cycle. Then 3rd time was charm and all worked out okay in the end.

    Does it shake your rv?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Год назад +1

      Really only when it does spin cycle at max rpm. Even then with 6-pt leveling and balanced feet on unit itself, it's about what you get in house in same room on upper level. And again, only momentary for the spin cycle. Also depends on RV type too and frame. Some more robust frames than mine might be even less.
