I have multiple disabilities, (Including only one eye.) and I own the TSPROF KO-3, and I'm able to work it.
I've only done a few blades so far, including my EDC "Delica," which I went all the way with finishing it with the 0.3 micron diamond lapping film.
I'm even impressed every time I open it to use it!
Amazing machine, pricey yes - but we all know we get what we pay for these days.
    Your a good man, Paul.
    Thanks for the great content...

Lapping film too that’s some dedication. I have a bunch of it in the shop but must admit in the last 5 years I’ve used it maybe 2 times. I don’t do much mirror finish work I actually try and avoid it. But I commend you sir for your patience and persistence. I am hopeful TSPROF will eventually send me a KO3 to review

      Afternoon, Paul...
      Thanks for your reply.
Yes - I wanted mostly to see if I could actually achieve the "Mirror" edge so many enthusiasts seem to prize.
I wouldn't necessarily keep doing it on my EDC, I think it's unnecessary...a bit of a ragged edge is good enough for me, and what I mostly use my Delica for.
I hope TSPROF will indeed send you their KO-3, they'd be doing themselves a big service having you review it.
I very nearly went with the Kadet Pro, but decided the KO-3 was more versatile.
Also, I've been a big fan of, and a long-time subscriber to Capt. Matt @ The American Edge here on RUclips.
Hope your thumb is healing nicely...

I have MS and decided to start a sharpening business. The Kadet Pro is my favorite sharpener. Thanks for the review.

Great video Paul! Nice to show the versatility of the Cadet. This is a very sturdy unit and does not move around like some of the others. I too have cut myself when navigating around it, so watch your hands placement. I also use kapton tape on the clamps to avoid potential scratching.

I have been meaning to look and see if anyone makes protective sleeves for them. Someone told me about a coating for tools they dipped theirs in.. it’s for putting rubber coating back on tools but I forgot the name that sounds like an interesting potential solution also

    P.S.
The "Atoma 140" grit stone seems to be the most popular re-profiling stone for the TSPROF and other sharpening systems, it's very frequently out-of-stock at most of the major sharpening suppliers...

What about stability? Is the base large/heavy enough without clamping or holding?

    • @ALXSHARPEN

Not bad but best if secured IMO the only one I have used that the base is heavy enough without securing it is the KO3 Pro Hunter It's a big heavy unit

If your viewers get sticker shock when looking at the Tsprof unit or are on a limited income there are some cheaper but still high quality options. For perspective, the Kadet kit and bits they sent you is more than a Tormek T8. The significantly cheaper option would be the Hapstone RS. It is smaller than the Kadet (only ~8" knives instead of up to 12" on the Kadet) but there is a small flat case available for it. The Hapstone R2 is the full size unit that can sharpen ~12"+ knives as well and it is still quite a bit cheaper than the Kadet. One pro is that you don't need to clamp it down to keep it from tipping, but you can't really take it take it down to easily transport. Another plus is that with both of the Hapstone units you just rotate them, you don't need to flip a lever to unlock them, rotate, then relock which can be difficult with disabilities.
There are a bunch of clamp options available, a few flat table options, scissor attachment, chisel attachment, even a round leather knife or ulu knife attachment and they are all cheaper than the Tsprof equivalent.
The S2 H4 on your bit: The S2 is the steel, and the H4 is "Hex 4mm" if you were curious.
