Once all the cameras are wired up down from the loft, do you feed the four cables (cables at the start) into the room where NVR is and then use some mortar repair on the mortar to make good? Install looks spot on and some brave angle drilling 👏
Hi, I appreciate your effort in trying to pull the cables from the wall cavity. I encountered a similar issue; every time I pushed my fish rod into the wall cavity, it broke after 4-5 feet. We tried the same method you're using, but it didn’t work for us. Could you kindly share which fish rods you are using? I’d like to buy the same ones and give it another try. Thank you!
Nice video, Do you have any tips for getting cables in the cavity? I’ve tried to push rods through at the steepest angle I can get and can’t for the life of me get the rods through. Any helps / tips would be appreciated Thanks
Thanks, pretty poor but will try and start doing some better vlog style videos! I’m guessing you’ve watched our cavity how to video? How many rods are you getting through, if it’s just 1, try knocking the end of the rod with a hammer quite hard. Sometimes you’ll find there is messy mortar on the internal brick preventing the rod from going any higher.
@@HikVisionGuru Hi , yeah I have which is what made me want to change all my cameras and have them in the cavity. I started with one camera along time ago and added more and more over the years but I have them all externally routed and want them all in the cavity. Ok I’ll try that I can’t even get the first rod through it hits the internal block and can’t get it past even though I am at the steepest angle I can get. I’ll give that a go though and see if it’ll bend the rod past the internal wall and up into the cavity . Thanks
How long a drill bit did you use, might even have gone too steep and it’s still going up into the brick work rather than the cavity. If hitting with hammer doesn’t work, try re drilling at a slight angle and try rodding.
Hi HikGuru, I'm in Australia- our eaves are 6-9mm fibre cement, what screw or fastener do I use to hang cameras off that? In your videos you just screw direct to the eaves, I don't know what eave/soffit board you have in the UK
Hi Ron, we have wood or pvc usually! Make sure firstly it’s not got hazardous asbestos in it before you drill it and always wear your dust make when drilling cement. A normal wall plug and an adequately sized screw would hold it, as long as it’s not a big heavy ptz camera! If not use plasterboard type fixings
@@HikVisionGuru thank you so much! Unfortunately I had already hung them on plasterboard screws last week and they seem solid. Should I remove and install wall plug, some plugs just spin and don't open up inside as meant to. Also I ran pvc conduit like you to an external wall with 2 junction boxes. Do I need to silicone the joins as they are just pushed in together. Also the T and round pvc junction box covers are screwed on tight,no silicone.
@@ronfj8603as long as the screws seem solid then it’s all good. Pvc wise you can either silicone the lot or put it some water drip holes so any water can drain away.

How did you manage to feed that blue rod through to/from the porch? I am looking to do my own install, very similar to this. And can't work out what to do with the porch!
We used a super long drill piece with precision, and managed to drill right the way through into the void above the porch canopy. We then drilled a large cutout where the camera is and we were able to pull the rod down through this hole. Hopefully this helps. If not send me an email with some pictures of your layout with porch etc hikguru.yt@gmail.com
Call me stupid but I’m so confused, when you drill through the wall how do you make a gap in it to run the cable up to the loft aren’t all walls solid? Or does it have a gap in the middle of the inner and outer wall ? And secondly my kody is converted into a bedroom so how would I run cable up
Yes there is a gap between the 2 brick layers called the cavity, so we drill through the first brick layer only, then push our rods up. If your loft is converted you may struggle, unless you’ve got some access to the eaves in the loft, sometimes there’s little doors into these areas.
Just subbed because I plan to self install these G2 cameras. I've seen most jobs using the Hik back boxes due to people saying you can't get all the cables to fit inside the camera unit and it protects against the weather but noticed you didn't install them or have trouble with the cables. I personally don't like the look of them with the back boxes
Yeah they do look ugly sometimes, they make the camera stick out so much however sometimes it can be beneficial for the camera to protrude if you needed to see over a drain pipe for instance. You can fit the weatherproof gland behind the camera no issue, and if you struggle you can always make a slightly larger vertical hole in the brick to put it in.
Thanks for that, I do have a section that sticks out 2-3inches on the bay window so will probably after use a back box for that one What's the current NVR to use with these cameras I wouldn't need more than 8 ? The cavity install videos are great, you could really do with more install videos from planning camera locations to setting up the nvr
@@Messimagician83 there’s the the lower k series model which I wouldn’t recommend for 8mp as it’s only got so much processing power, the DS-7608NI-K2/8P can have up to 2-ch@8 MP or 4-ch@4 MP or 8-ch@1080p decoding capacity. You’ve then got the DS-7608NI-I2/8P which can handle 2-ch@12 MP (20 fps)/4-ch@8 MP (25 fps)/8-ch@4 MP (30 fps). Even better with your 8mp cameras would be the DS-7608NI-M2/8P which handles 2-ch@32 MP (30 fps)/2-ch@24 MP (30fps)/4-ch@16 MP (30fps)/8-ch@8 MP (30fps)
Can you help me out please 🙏...I've installed 6 camera system...but when I have the cameras on the monitor for 3 of them I have no resource shown on the screen but when I go into that cameras they are working just fine and recording...did you encounter such a issue??
What cameras are you using and what NVR model? No resource shows when the NVR struggles to output all 6 cameras especially if they are set to “main stream”, if you change them or a couple of them to “sub stream” by hovering over the camera (a small menu appears below the camera) then they should all show. If you want all 6 cameras to show in main stream you may need to lower certain camera attributes so that your NVR can handle the processing power

We tend to use C.K branded rods, you can buy different strength rods, some which are flexible some which are less flexible depending what you need
