No it doesn't, domes can be fitted any where you like. If you fit a dome under the soffit all you end up with is a really crappy view of heads and full of spiders

Couple known issues here. - Cameras are way too high. You're going to get the top view of vehicles, people, etc. - You pronounce ethernet wrong. It doesn't matter where you live. You're pronouncing it wrong. - Network Cabinet is in the wrong location. Bring it downstairs to your house's ambient temperatures. Your attic space is too hot to house your equipment up there. The life of your equipment is cut in half when it's experiencing hot conditions.
- Good point - And other people spell colour as "colour". - He spoke about his network cabinet location in one of his vlogs. He said that was the only place he could physically place his network cabinet and he is also aware about the heat. Idk if he'll resolve the heating problem, but at least he is aware that it's wrong.
If someone rips one of your cameras off the wall and plugs in a laptop, they have instant access to your whole network because you didnt subnet the IP cameras. Please research your equipment before trying to tell others about it.

It might be a good idea to isolate all the security cameras on their own VLAN with no internet access. That way if someone somehow manages to take a camera off your exterior wall and plugs a laptop in, they won't have access to your entire network and such.
Not "might be a good idea", it IS what you do (not even "should"), or you're just asking for trouble! Sadly, it's something a lot of people forget about with good custom setups because most out-of-the-box solutions like Hikvision already prevent network bridging at the NVR.
The dome camera isn't fully weatherproof, and is only recommended to be installed outdoors below an overhang, not in the middle of a wall as you've installed it.

That way you can utilize the high power of desktop components, and you can make it as simple/intense as you want. You can have raid, hot swap bays, battery backup and redundant psu's like I did, or you could even just use an old laptop. The software is about $50, but it allows you Incredibly glandular controls of motion triggering, and it allows you to use cheap $50 cameras from China with absolutely no issue. All in all, read up into blue iris, it is by far the best option

I'm afraid your applying a very old definition and trying to interpret it in 2018. The transmission of video across data across an IP network, involving remote access, or off site storage of footage still falls well within the definition of CCTV.
The G3 Dome isn't rated for outdoor use. You'll likely have issues with condensation in the casing. They're only really for indoor or outdoor in a sheltered location, under canopy etc..
I have no doubt that will fail pretty quick but I'm more interested in how long it will take that rackmount gear and the NVR to fail in a hot and stuffy attic.
Im not a fan of that NVR, after about 6month every time the recordings become corrupt for some strange reason. then you login to check and all the recent recordings is corrupted
Those camera angles would be illegal in most European countries as a breach of neighbors privacy. I'd be very careful about monitoring neighbor's property without their explicit permission, also public spaces such as roads might be protected under law.
Didn’t see you do it, but you might want to put a bead of silicone on the back of the housing...to ensure no water can get between the brick and housing and in through the hole.
Not sure if you are wanting to I'd people coming and going, but at that height you will most likely not get a good look at someone's face. Should mount something near face level especially near entrances. Just my 2 cents from doing many installs. It doesn't look the greatest, but that's where low profile comes in, and you want to make sure you catch someone. Cameras mounted high are great for observations, and adding detail.
It's a deterrent only. Have you heard of hoodies, balaclavas, snoods - that's what the bad boys go out hunting in. Oh, and they wear gloves too. Catch someone! - do you install in the UK? The Police here couldn't catch a cold. All you're doing with any of these systems is moving the boys onto your neighbours pad. Result.
He was using Ethernet in the wrong context anyway. Ethernet is the link layer protocol used to transfer data over cat cables, so shouldn't be used in terms of "ethernet ports" or "ethernet cables" etc

BTW setup your equipment on the ground before installation. Then when you install it, it's ready to go, you can aim it using your smart phone while at the camera.
just a bit of advice move your cams down more as your pointing at the public road and you can see in to you neighbours property or use the privacy setting to blank out all the windows and doors that is not on your property I have my SIA CCTV Licence even when I'm at work the public parts that the cameras can see have been privicy blanked off
you may have an issue with water on the dome camera those are only supposed to be mounted under an overhang externally. They are more for indoors. Good luck.

8:40 i would set the quality of the cameras down to medium as the ssd in the nvr would fill up within a month or too, you dont need 1080p for a security camera.
So what if it fills up in a month, a month is plenty of time to have detected a crime or whatever, and marked the clip(s) to not delete, or exported it. you want the best quality you can get, especially if they are mounted really high and are wide angle!
2tb with 8 cameras will only last him about 2 weeks if there's loads of traffic but most people aren't away from home more than 2 weeks so not a huge problem
Yes you are allowed to film The Street on residential purposes had cameras for lots of years had neighbours try and complain when falling out providing you have reason e.g. car van vehicle or Just Cause there's no reason you're not allowed to

Good video but very bad placement of cameras. You want them a maximum of 10 feet from the ground. Doesn't matter that people can perhaps get to them or smash them because as long as you have set them up correctly then you will catch the person's face before they do all of that and that is the important thing here, getting good enough quality video capture so it can be used to catch the criminal. Also take a look at EZVIZ cameras. Basically the consumer range of HikVision. Very good cameras and NVR.
As a alarm and cctv engineer myself what you got is a good budget system. I run 2x bosch mic 400 ptz cameras front and back and pelco domes inside. If you go for a alarm I would look at the texecom premier 24 alarm system

Unless it’s looking into a neighbouring garden then no u don’t need permission. You can freely record from any device including cctv in your property or on public property
here in the UK you can film on public property without being told not to legally unless its HM property like GCHQ but on private land they can ask you to stop filming but you don't have to listen since its not illegal so pointing a camera into a neighbours garden is legal even if its a little immoral and gets used by some peeping tom next door
In California (USA) you can record on your property and face others as long as you don’t have view of private areas (like bathrooms) per the California Eavesdropping Law. As long as it’s at a reasonable angle it’s okay.
But you don't really want 4K. A 2K camera will have higher light sensitivity than a 4K camera with the same sized sensor. Unless your 4K camera sensor is double the size, while it will look great during the day, its performance will suffer at night compared to the 2K cam unless you can seriously flood the place with IR light. But the G3 Pro has other features as well, such as 3x optical (not digital) zoom, great for setting up a camera a distance off and zooming into the area you actually want covered, they can also stream directly to RUclips without a PC in the middle for public live streams and the Sony sensor provides excellent night performance.

I’ve been using the Arlo cameras that with IFTTT and Philips Hue will switch on lights if motion is detected which I think works as a deterrent. Can you do this with the cameras you have used? I presume your video footage will also be backed up to the cloud. I’m liking your house. There is a lot to be said for having a brick garden wall.

Axis + Milestone . End of Story... UBNT is great for home use, but if you want a REAL system, Axis & Milestone

From a simplicity standpoint I would use nest. This seems really complicated to set up, and you need POE to do so.

Curious to know what the rules are over there in regards to cameras looking at neighbouring properties? I know here, it's a big no, no. But is it different over there because CCTV is so prolific anyway? I'm from New Zealand btw. Cheers team. Slick vid.

Unless it’s looking into a neighbouring garden then no u don’t need permission. You can freely record from any device including cctv in your property or on public property
here in the UK you can film on public property without being told not to legally unless its HM property like GCHQ but on private land they can ask you to stop filming but you don't have to listen since its not illegal so pointing a camera into a neighbours garden is legal even if its a little immoral and gets used by some peeping tom next door
In California (USA) you can record on your property and face others as long as you don’t have view of private areas (like bathrooms) per the California Eavesdropping Law. As long as it’s at a reasonable angle it’s okay.

But you don't really want 4K. A 2K camera will have higher light sensitivity than a 4K camera with the same sized sensor. Unless your 4K camera sensor is double the size, while it will look great during the day, its performance will suffer at night compared to the 2K cam unless you can seriously flood the place with IR light.
But the G3 Pro has other features as well, such as 3x optical (not digital) zoom, great for setting up a camera a distance off and zooming into the area you actually want covered, they can also stream directly to RUclips without a PC in the middle for public live streams and the Sony sensor provides excellent night performance.

Hello _ i 7have servers on 24/7 anyway so im good lol. I couldnt get it working but did in the end i was using Ubuntu version 18 and soon as i went to 16 worked first time.

I’ve been using the Arlo cameras that with IFTTT and Philips Hue will switch on lights if motion is detected which I think works as a deterrent. Can you do this with the cameras you have used? I presume your video footage will also be backed up to the cloud.
