    Oh my goodness, that looks *amazing*. I’m completely Brand Newb to 40K and to painting as well. I’ve got close to a 3,000pt Black Templar army that I have primed and then allowed to sit, and sit, and sit… I’m terrified of painting them because I know that I’ll never be happy with how they’ll turn out. I expect anything that I do to turn out as well as a professional, which isn’t reasonable but here we are. I’m a bit more confident with the Redemptor Dreadnought since he’s not as tiny as the other models, and hopefully your video will help me paint my PRD into something that I can at least somewhat be happy with.
    Thanks for the video, my friend.

      Glad to hear the video helped. I’ve actually been on a painting session the last few weeks adding more and more to my templars. I love them so much. Putting that much painting pressure onto yourself is not good. Getting them to a nice standard first so they are not sitting there primed is a good Start and something you can add to layer as your painting improves.

    Hi! I have just used this techinque on my Taurox Prime for Militarum tempestum and worked perfectly!

    God, I love this. I was looking for a simple, fast but effective black that looks like metal plating painted black and this will do it. Painting good looking Black in minis is harder than i expected!
    Out of curiosity, if i wanted to use dirty down rust and vertigree, do you think that would work in place of your rust step?
    I have a land raider I rescued awhile back (hull is from a redeemer and it was missing the top piece down to the assault ramp. I refitted the top with the top of a proteus, used BT upgrade for the top lid and plasticard for the assault ramp.
    Unfortunately, because it's a rescue, it has a bit of damage here and there, was painted with bright overly thick greens and fluro oranges and had a bunch of damage from becoming an Ork vehicle at some point, but IMO, some realistic rust will really hide any of those imperfections.
    I got a Black Templar upgrade spru assault ramp top hatch, but somehow, I got some plastic glue on the toothy end and lost a little bit of detail there. Having said that, texture-wise, it didn't go blobby or anything and I think it will work well with a good rust effect I'm hoping.

      Yes dirty down rush and vertigree would indeed look great on it. Sounds like you have quite the project with that tank.

    Tried to do my first Redemptor over the weekend and it was an absolute disaster of ripples and uneven coverage. Was using black legion. Thankfully it was in sub assemblies but the torso and legs are swimming in stripper now.

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  Год назад

      Black legion is the wrong colour. It’s to solid and think. I’m not a fan of it. Black templar is the paint I use.

      @@MediocreHobbies I was looking for dark armor tutorials. I play Iron Hands, liked the more true black of black legion. Didn't think the technique would be so dependent on the specific paint, but I know better now.

    So I just found this channel and got tutorials are great I will be using them for my new BT project. Waa wondering if you are going to go for the emperor's champion at all or no

      I had thought about it. But in the end figured it would be an identical video to my infantry one. I would recommend watching that and if there is any part your not sure about just shoot me a a message and I will help if I can.

    Wow, the initial black coat really worked well!! Zandri Dust is a great color. Have you thought about more damage or wear on the hand? Seems it would take a ton of beating and might have oil or fluids running down. The final model is great!

    Great video! Will definitely follow it when the time comes to paint my Redemptor.
    Did you prime him whole or with sub-assemblies? I've heard the latter makes life easier for both priming and painting.

    Hey, I'm just starting to paint a BT army and was wondering if it would be possible to use only mechanicus gray spray instead of chaos black + leadbelcher zenithal? Or would the difference be noticeable?

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  2 года назад +2

      Contrast don’t really work over the grey spray. I mean with black it mite work a little bit. There is no harm doing a tester and seeing of your happy with it. I just liked the metal armour loom.

    got a nice smooth black with the contrast, however when going over the entire model with nulon oil the black went streaky. Im restarting the entire model. Is there a reason for going over perfect smooth black with more black?

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  2 года назад

      It just darkens it down a little more. But if you like the result before black wash then by all means leave it there. It would still be a really nice armour colour. Sorry it went streaky on you.
