I’m tellin ye man, these challenges are absolutely killing me. The amount of time I’ve spent trying to get to 100% is just insane.
Update: I made 100% today
I got to about the point where I had like 6 challenges left. PS4 dies. Does not come back on. Tries everything I read online. Nothing works. Goes to best buy. Sorry dude you're fucked. Goes to other best buy. Sorry dude you're fucked but I can transfer the HDD into a new PS4 if you want. *y e s p l e a s e* Waits two hours. Hey man I got bad news... turns out it won't work. Leaves with new PS4 and hopes the save data uploaded to online automatically within atleast a few days. Goes to saved data, last time it was uploaded was 5 days ago. 5 days? Well hopefully I didn't get too far in that time. 70 challenges left, including the "catch all fish" and "pick up 43 flowers" both of which I already did. *Blows brains out*

i really think each challenges stage should be available at the same time, that saves time of going on one at the a time which is a pain in the ass since a lot of them has already been accomplished before in the early game.
I agree. Like um.. collect all the fucking herbs again. Well done Rockstar. I had 37/43 and have to collect them all over again. Have 21 now by just playing the game and doing other things/challenges.

Limpnormal I could literally say ANYTHING is a waste of time. Like replying to you is a waste of time. These challenges are optional. No one is forcing you to do them. They’re SUPPOSED to be HARD.

Best spot to find 19pound fish is by the Y in Lemoyne with swap lure filled with 19 pound catfish

If you are having trouble with #7, go to the cave in Elysian Pool. It's full of mangy rats that you can kill easily.

@@brianmannion7097 There's a clearing that has a lot of light and you don't need the lantern, but you can also use Eagle Eye and Dead Eye to see better
To add to the challenge, 5 kills with a varmint rifle, kill 5 crows or hawks with it. You'll get lots of flight feathers for crafting arrows in the next challenge.
I tried that but for some reason, it only counts when you kill small mammals

Easy method for challenge 7 - kill 8 chickens in Valentine. One hit kill everytime

Use a horse they are practically a boat!
Go to shady belle, south west of Saint denis. You'll find boats in one of the pier. Jump from the pier to the boat and fish from the boat. It actually work

Not as bad as it seems I got it done in a day for the one where you have to win consecutive domino games do it at the one in saint denis and quit if it seems like you're going to lose it will keep your win streak

For the shoot 8 small animals with small game arrows: Easier way is to head to Emerald Ranch, find the chicken pen, and then let 'em have it. This will probably net you a small bounty though.
And thanks for the owl location. Been running around like a madman shooting at any thing that flaps, hoping that it turns out to be an owl.
or better yet go to the east of emerald ranch to a place called osman grove. theres an enclosure there full of chickens. the people living in the house are all dead so no one will report you

My advice is to save all the legendaries for Challenge 10, then all that's left is the Northern Pike and Channel Catfish, which you only need lures.
Every 10th challenge is ridiculous lol It involves a lot of searching well except for Herbalist but Challenge 9 it's challenge 10 lol All plants fuck that. The things we do for the 100% lol
If you go to the legendary muskie spot by Van Horn and use a regular river lure, you can catch muskie that are 19lbs+
For Survivalist#6 You can use any bait and it will count as a corpse as long as the animal is feeding on it.
Does it have to be predator bait?

Pro tip: Save the legendary fish until you have the survivalist 10 challenge so you can do both at the same time. I kind of ended up doing it on accident and it's a great time saver.

I caught the steelhead trout legendary for that challenge, accidentally lost it, went to get challenge 10, caught it again.
I was going to comment the same thing. I did almost save this except i got the sockeye for challenge 9 and the one that is near beaver creek.

dumb question before, better question is if you have caught a smaller version of the legendary fish does it count as a second species?
7:13 for the volatile dynamite crafting, if you don’t want to wait for the ch3 mission for the pamphlet, go to ham bethel located north of the letter “n” in new Hanover. It should be in a chest underneath an abandoned cart.

ChaosZake I just completed it and it’s complete cancer. Every single challenge forces you to go on a 1+ hour hunt for flowers, wanted to rip my hair out

Just finished this myself. This made me love fishing. I found that saving the legendary fish for challenge 10 was what got me almost all of the challenge save for the ones in west Elizabeth and new austin as i have not gotten that far in the story.
Pro Tip! Fish also count as Small Game for Challenge 7. Slow moving rivers and ponds have small fish that are easy shots with the bow!
Some of these challenges are pretty hard. And it makes it even harder when someone is explaining to you that it is actually really simple. ‘All you have to do is just blow these birds out of the sky with your small game arrows and that’s it.’ Wow, thanks for the intel.

For anyone that it concerns: Duck or Geese have animal fat plus flight Feather for that double whammy around the pond near the oilfields in the heartlands. Get that varmint rifle and start fanning in deadeye...
For challenge 8, you can get the volatile dynamite pamphlet at Ham's Bethel. You don't need to play that chapter 3 mission if you don't want to.
Ducks and Geese also give animal fat, they also cluster together. Great guide btw helped me get to 100%

It has to do with something in the brain making you want to do almost everything perfectly I forget what it is tho
For the fire bottle recipe, you can get it sooner in Chpt. 2 if you see Javier or Charles in the camp making one then agree to get them the ingredients. Once that’s done, you’ll have the product in your room & the recipe learned

for challenge 6, you have to wait until the bird is actually landed and started pecking on the animal for it to count
One single thing that makes everything easier is the legend of the east satchel. And while building up to it stock up on all ingredients. Makes following challenges much easier
You need more subs than your actual amount with how much help you are giving us all with your videos

for the last challenge, there are 15 fish to catch. you only list 14, and smallmouth bass is duplicated
Steelhead trout is the missing one. They like worms. I found it easy to catch one on the pool below the big waterfall in Tall Trees.

#7 - I found very easy by just going to the Fence at Emerald Ranch and shooting all of the chickens.
I just got the fishing rod as I am still in Chapter Two. But for those playing now as John and can't swim, go to the bait shop in Lagras. She has a wooden punt or skiff at her dock. Jump in , row out a few feet and start fishing. You can also buy all sorts of bait and special lures too.
These are really well put together. Helped me alot! You sir, have earned my sub.
If you're going for 100% combine the legendary fish challenges and the second / last challenges in the survivalist group to easily both find and catch all legendary fish and mail them off as well as catching all types of fish (Legendary variants of fish do still count as catching one of that type of fish for the challenge).
Tip for the "Kill 8 small game" challenge. If you go to Saint Denis at a certain time and go to the small bar in town, the owner will ask you to help kill rats, just use the small game arrows and you'll be done in a few minutes.

Yo GTA, If #7 has anyone completely Bonkers, best to ride your horse out to the small 'sandbar' North of the 'Iguana' Island and start stalking the beaches for Toads and Toads ONLY. Continue down to larger island and you will get it, just do NOT attempt to camp as it always sends you back to mainland. Just wrote it out for the really impatient types, (such as myself, Lol) Thanks for posting, ~Mark~

The varmint rifle is actually pretty kick ass for headshots too. I’ve made the mistake of keeping it on my back when a mission starts, so I had to make due, that’s when I realized it

Challenge 8 there is always an owl on the roof of Riggs Station.
i spent an hour wandering in tall trees at night fighting wolves, bears and the skinner brothers looking for owls
Not really. I saw an owl there once. It's not there most of the time.

Below riggs station (map) there is a house where o driscoll kidnap Arthur, on that house roof an owl is always spawn at night
I love your videos. Seeing all this busy work, man, even though I made it through gambler challenges, I might just give up. This is not fun, this is a second job.
For scavenger challenge put predator bait next to the carcas, with birds you will get coyotys and foxes going for the same carcas.
For Challenge #6, I also found if you kill boar that are munching on predator bait, that counts toward scavengers

For #7 you should head north of st.denis you’ll find a lot of birds landed
I recommend the baymall edge with a swam lure got the longnose gar if you can’t get one

For the 5 scavenger kills, fastest method I've found is:
Kill deer in shallow water, say on the Dakota River as it drinks, skin it, move away from it. Get back on your horse and watch carcass through the scope of your varmint rifle. Fish will come to the carcass and feed. Shoot the fish. Need to pick up fish carcasses after two or three, but more fish will come to the deer carcass again. Did the challenge in less than five minutes this way.

Survivalist gear, once all bought, gives you extra deadeye. Also, the Herbalist and Explorer sets are dead eye gear. You can only have 2 bonus dead eye tanks, I think.
I was running up stream somewhere on my way to skin a kill, when I noticed a magikarp looking ass thing flopping around on the edge of the water. I thought "can't be. This game can't be this realistic". Went over and sure enough, "Pick Up" and it was a Sockeye Salmon.
No effort, zero intentions, got my very first fish before I even finished chapter two just by running by it and knocking it slightly onshore. Amazing that every single fish is it's own simulated object in this game.
I did frogs for #7, thought it was much easier.
frogs ? easier i haven't even seen a single frog and I'm at 90%completion

#7 is pretty tricky, and flying birds are not a good option, because Arthur may miss a shot even if target is marked in Dead Eye.
The better option is chickens, there are lots of them near Rhodes. Also rats are good too, especially if you haven't yet kill them in saloon of sent Denis

ur having problems with challenge 7 go to emerald ranch and find a coop of chickens. Kill the chickens with the bow, but it'll cost you some honor and maybe a bit of money if someone is a witness for animal cruelty.
For #7: Kill the chicken at emerald ranch. It fucking works!!
for challenge 7 *you can kill chickens at emerald ranch* with no bounty action if you do it at night time and theres like 8 chickens and a rooster in there, they all are small game
Tip for no.6 - go below Blackwater, directly under the H of West Elizabeth
If you are having trouble killing scavangers just track a deer, put hervivoere bait, wait until it starts feeding in the bait, and kill it

We're in a lock-down so i reinstalled RDR2 in ps4 just for the Challenge never completed it last time. If the Challenges don't have equipment it makes no sense though. There are challenges that should be made earlier as possible. Best equipment for me is Gambler (not that easy) most frustrating is the Herbalist and most exciting is the Master Hunter you can complete it before chapter 3.
Last challenge done gambler the experience with red dead has been great close to best in the west trophy bec I did hunting requests ..😊😀

How can you get a boat when you cant even swim?
FP use your horse to swim close to he boat shoot the gun so he doesn’t paddle off get to the boat on your horse jump off and jump on the boat straight away, if you start drowning just some health tonics

Diego Piedmont I looked on Reddit and found a great spot to get large Sturgeons with the special swamp lure. With my luck, I got a 19lbs Sturgeon in only a few tries. On to the next challenge!

I found out for the survivalist 6 challenge, using killing animals eating predator or herbivore bait counts as a scavenger kill.
Legend of the east before chapter 4. Lets go, Booys
I caught the legendary smallmouth bass as well at Owanjila. So stonks
Elysian pool waterfall cave. Follow tunnel into the big lit up room in the cave. Tons of bats and super easy to hit. Took me 20 seconds
I wish I would have waited until the challenge came up to create that tomahawk. I had made one before when I randomly found an owl. Now I need to locate another owl to pluck its feathers.
I've already fished up the legendary Gar prior to hitting Survival Challenge 10 and I'm damned if I can fish another one up. Punishing.
Easiest way to do #7 go to emerald ranch at night(won’t get bounty) in the goat pen there is 7 chickens and 1 rooster, 1 shots with small game arrows. your welcome.
Challenge 9 is hard af if you already caught and mailed all the fish... Jesus Christ
