Couldn't you do Sharpshooter 8 at an enemy camp using dead I only once (within the same dead eye use)after they've all drawn their weapons to shoot at you?
Yes you can. I did it at Van Horn after accidentally pissing off the entire town after breathing too loudly or something like that. Dual wield pistols and three clicks on each pulled gun, and Bob's yer uncle.@@Stig007
If the dead eye is already level max (8/8), i can't make the shoot like in the video (Sharpshooters 9). Because when i shoot the repeater, the dead eye suddenly off/disappear. How do i suppose to do that challenge.?? (Sharpshooters 9). Can i headshoot with the hat removed.?? Please reply
For sharpshooter 8 (I haven’t tried it myself) but someone wrote that it can also be done by replaying the bank robbery in valentine mission, make sure to use the dynamite to open the safes and when you come out of the bank you can disarm all the lawmen waiting outside in one dead eye
I tried this and I can confirm, yes, it worked. At least for me, I own the Ultimate Edition on PC. Can use that to try Sharpshooter 9 too, which is shooting of 3 hats in one Deadeye
For the 7 consecutive head shots, hunting counts, and gators are super easy as they don't move much and have large heads, just aim for the eyes. For 5, just use the varmint rifle and kill small things, easy peasy. Just don't over think the challenges and read them carefully to consider the easiest way.
Dont wanna sound like a dick here but I imagine I will.... headshots in this game aren't that hard in my opinion. From a controller perspective with aim assist on all you do is aim through sights and then slightly push the joystick up and it will always result in a headshot. This is the same for any game, so it's pretty easy. But still great tip! Thanks
@@ILickPanda yeah literally as a controller player u can literally like go in dead eye over an npcs head and click r1 and it’ll count as a headshot, or without deadeye just aim over their head and it’ll count lmao
Would be good to have pointed out that for Challenge 9, the prerequisite is actually Chapter 4 “Urban Pleasures,” which levels up your Dead-Eye to keep shooting while in Dead-Eye. Tried this a ridiculous amount of times in Chapter 3 using this guide but finally had to Google why my Dead-Eye reset each time. That’s why.
thanks for the comment man, for real. i had seen this video already and just went back on it to verify what i was doing wrong. the dead eye kept getting cancelled after each shot😪
I did it in Chapter 3 in Valentine with the semi-auto shotgun though so it is possible before The key is to be quite far from the people you will shoot to avoid killing them with a headshot, I did it by marking the three hats and then shot, but you will probably need several attempts before completing it
For Challenge 7, I went down to the swamps in Lemoyne and headshot 7 alligators in a row - yes, alligators count as enemies! This also helped with the horseman challenge where you have to kill 9 predators without dismounting.
The only thing I found challenging about RDR2's "challenges" was interpreting wtf they wanted us to do. Most of the challenges you can't just do them, you have to do them the way R* wants you to do them but they don't tell you that you have to do it this way or that way. But once you figure out wtf they actually want they are all very easy,
For Sharpshooter 8 just empty the gun to last magazine bullets (6-8) because Dead Eye counts as reloading. For those who find it annoying to do in this guide.
I went to Van Horn, riled up the entire town, got plenty of enemies coming close to me, I just dead-eyed and disarmed three of them in one go before getting the fuck out of dodge. No bounty since Van Horn is a lawless turd of a city.
For sharpshooter 8, just shoot poison arrows to the leg of the lawmen or NPCs that's armed. For sharpshooter 9, just ride a train and if you see passengers near you with hats(it's easier because the some NPC's have top hats) just shoot there hat off and save immediately so you won't lose honor by killing the guards. Hope this helps!
That third challenge. I did 2 times. Moving from Valentine is not safe. And two times I was wanted even though I wore a mask. I shot more birds but only 2 of them were registered as kills. You make it look so easy.
The method that worked best for me was getting on top of the roof of the barn in valentine in that same spot people use and shooting off the hats that way. Gives the best distance so the buck shot’s non-fatal.
Yeah I know right you can’t seriously have sharpshooter and have a challenge where you chuck a tomahawk. Unless it was shot like a harpoon in a harpoon gun.
For Challenge 3 I lucked out. I took a train to Van Horne and climbed on top when we got to the station. It set off the lawmen who started looking for me around the train. I didn't let anyone spot me. The train left and the wanted level went away. Then I shot the first lil patch of birds, jumped off the train... easy peasy. Not sure if having the law look for you before the train left but I'd thought I'd throw that out there.
Tip for challenge 8: If you only have 1 magazine of ammo (you can waste everything except for one) you don't reload you weapon when using dead eye much easier to complete Tip for 9: If you don't have leveled dead eye you can use shotgum from medium range and shoot to the heads. They don't die because you're too far.
Thanks ! I just completed challenge 9 it thanks to your comment still with level 2 dead eye. Went ot Six Point Cabin at night from East side and shot at enemies around the campfire.
If you want to keep your ammo, honor. Or any of your items. Do mission replay, the challenges count it. Just finish the mission when you completed a challenge
Challenge 9 has been haunting me for days challenge 8 was made so easy thanks to this video it works like a charm and they do keep spawning back in the barn once you ran away and back again. . All I want is to get sharp shooter challenge done so I can have a easy remaining 4 challenges to do which are easy compared to these last few sharp shooter challenge s
Wow challenge 9 was easy I didn't even know once you let off a shot it remains in dead eye but if you lock a target it will shut down I feel like an idiot but a happier idiot All my grinding it out for these challenges it's about to all be passed now I'm happy
If you're struggling on challenge 4 and keep missing its because youre backing up too far. You really only need to back up a little bit after marking his head with deadeye. I did this at force mercer along with all the other challenges to kill enemies because its always loaded with dudes and theres always 2 guards stationed out front
9 is so difficult because deadeye targets the top of their head and not the hat, so you have to be really careful and they need to have a particular head angle
Easy way to do challenge 3 is when you do the Billy Midnight gunslinger duel after you kill him don't take his picture as that ends the mission. Instead shoot ya some birds as the train rolls along. After you get your birds. Take Billy's picture and grab his gun.
No 4: Took me so long to finish this mfr. Finally made it by heading up to Hanging dog ranch, approach from the back and climb up the high tower. Kill off as many guys as possible at first so you don't take too much damage while focusing on throwing your tomahawk. It might be easier to jump over to the barn roof, your choice. The height gives you the advantage of both distance and a clear path to your enemy. Take out your tomahawk and go for it. If you suck at aiming, like me, and you run out of tomahawks, there's a trapper not too far from Hanging dog ranch. You can buy three at a time from him. Mind the cougar tho, almost always spawns at the passing road :)
@@juicer6719 I watched the video very carefully he says to get close just enough to see the red dot and you kinda have to go back and forth to find the sweet spot of just before it goes away the red dot and then go dead eye mark him and step back intill your dead eye is almost done or in the video I think he only used a quarter Just keep trying it’ll take time just know it’s not impossible
For sharpshooter 8 the easiest method is going to cornwall kerosene and tar and shooting the guards in the leg with a poison arrow, takes like 20 seconds
For the 8th challenge I found out the hard way that if you jump over a fence or anything like that the game’s mechanics counts it as switching your weapon because I think you put it away for a brief moment. I only needed to do it 1 more time and I jumped a fence to run away from the red wanted area to avoid a bounty and it reset
@@Buster_derri you probably already figured it out but you can't shoot then keep dead eye on until late chapter 4 through the mission "urban pleasures". but you can do sharpshooter 9 way before then by using a shotgun and maintaining a decent distance
You can use arrows for #8 .. Specifically poison arrows as the enemy will drop their weapon before dying. Be sure not to put your bow away or change weapons
For sharpshooter 8 I tried your way and got lucky, cause when I came back for "disarm number 2", there was a second dude with a gun right next to the one I shot. So I disarmed both and that was it. :)
If you're in the epilogue, you can just pop into Armadillo to get a lot of these challenges done, like the seven straight head shots. You'll lose honor, but there's no law to go after you. Goes for some of the bandit challenges as well.
For Sharpshooter 3, I went to Flatneck Station and encountered Phineas T. Roundbottom (the cigarette card set guy). After the dialogue, there is a train, I then boarded the train and then went shooting. So this is better than waiting around for a train to show or move.
I have been stuck on the stupid flying bird one since like chapter two. I tried the jumping on the train thing, but I didn't see a single damn bird, and I tried shooting and got a bounty so I haven't tried it again. I thought there was a shooting challenge from a train and you could use that to accomplish this.
Richie Schneider Steal a train before you get to Bard’s crossing and get on the top of a cart while accelerating at full speed. You should see plenty of birds to shoot and as long as the train is moving they’ll count.
@@apollo180 Thanks, but I got 100% complete a couple weeks ago. I don't think I would have done that, just because I have to keep my honor at max. I don't know why, but it really bothers me to see it go down and I fix it right away. I know stealing a train and all that would ding my honor pretty bad.
Richie Schneider It wouldn’t go down as much as you think. Mine only dropped by one bar. But, I find it easy to increase it. The downside I find is the bounty of $75 for dispatching the guards.
I just wanted to keep saying you d*** at how easy you made it look. I literally had to climb on about 6 trains to complete the "shoot 5 birds while on a moving train" challenge. Sometimes getting bounties, too.
It’s possible to do Sharpshooter 6-9 during the last mission in Chapter 2 “The Sheep and the Goats” Prerequisite: Pump Shotgun or Semi-auto shotgun SS6- Purchase High velocity and a long scope with the Rolling Block. After scaring off the Ranch hands wait until the dot on the crosshairs is white when aiming at a ranch hand, use high velocity round + deadeye for headshot. SS7- Get 7 headshots in a row during the shootout through Valentine. Deadeye optional SS8- after loading Strauss onto John’s horse and the following cutscene you will be behind cover facing 3-4 lawmen. Use your gun of choice loaded with express rounds and shoot 3 lawmen in the right forearm. SS9- Use your shotgun + deadeye and mark the top of the head of 3 lawmen in deadeye and fire. For judge of safe distance I did this when they were about where the Butcher Store is and I was about in front of the saloon.
I’m doing something wrong when it comes to the 80 foot tomahawk throw. I think I’m doing everything according to the technique, but when it release it only goes about halfway. I’ve tried using the homing tomahawk and had no luck. Any suggestions? What am I doing wron G?
I used my lasso and tied an enemy up took him somewhere quiet and played him down then just kept backing up and throwing tomahawk at him from a distance. EZ
I went to hanging dog ranch and there's a guy with a shotgun on the outside and so when you go up to him you can shoot the shotgun out of his hands from behind by shooting the stock and run a away until the red goes away on the map and return to that guy and he will have another shotgun with his back faced to you so you just do that 3 times and it's better than any strat I've seen for that challenge online
@@dedghgfy4335 You have to complete "Urban Pleasures" in Chapter 4 in order to unlock the ability to shoot continuously without cancelling dead eye. Alternatively, use the method with the semi-auto shotgun.
@@maxrobinson387 Wrong, you just use R1 (on playstation, go to help->combat->dead eye paragraph 2) It will mark enemies for you and you hit your shoot button and will automatically fire
Funny and lucky story about challenge 9: I found a Raider’s camp and decided to go in with a pump action shotgun. Because I didn’t have slugs chambered, I went into deadeye, marked 3 heads and blasted away, none of them didn’t die, but their hats were off, completing the challenge. My mouth was agape for a second before I clear the camp out.
At the beginning of the game, the "x" are placed automatically at weak points. Later you have to manually place them with R1 for PS4. I might have messed with some controlls without realizing, but I also found myself thinking "why doesn't Dead Eye work like it used to?"
My dead eye is max 8/8 I'm in chapter three and when I shoot in dead eye it comes out of it right after each shot having difficulty with shooting of hats in same dead eye can some please help
@@lightcycle4725 it doesn't work either. The shots end up killing enemies and I'm assuming that doesn't count because I still haven't completed challenge.
sharpshooter 9 can be done before chapter 4 i did mine's in chapter 2. get two sawed off shotguns with no upgrades and dirty condition as well then go enter the backdoor of the valentine saloon go to the top of the first stair case and paint three of the guys on the poker table with dead eye on their heads then Boom challenge complete
There's a problem with the level 9 challenge, if you have max level Dead Eye, wich you can manually mark enemies, as soon as you shoot it turns the dead eye off, and you can only mark enemies''s heads and not the hat. FUcking hell.
I managed to pulled off #8 at the Hanging Dog ranch with the Lancaster without using Deadeye but had to use a couple of medicine bottles to heal myself in the process then i ran away from there so that the hideout can reset faster.
That's the problem. In this video doesn't mention what in sharpshooter 9 you need to complete the mission "Banking, the Old American Art" where you can shoot without mark the enemies.
PSA: to complete challenge 4, you do not need to complete Americans at rest as you can get a tomahawk from the Shady Belle gang hideout. However, it is very glitchy and obviously not intended to be obtained so early, as despite being unlocked you will receive no tomahawk when buying them from the fence.
OK I’m trying to do sharpshooter challenge number five and I’m doing exactly what this video shows by targeting birds in a single deadeye and not only is it just resetting before I get to six, regardless of whether or not I’ve switched-out or reloaded, but it’s also giving me negative honor points every time I shoot something. I had a near perfect honor level before this challenge and now I’ve lost my 50% discount!!!
@@RBCharger that would be weird if I was shooting chickens up by Colter. And over a dozen attempts, all in separate locations? That’s impossible to the point of being dumb. I finally passed the challenge but still got an honor decrease every time. I looked it up and what I read said killing animals without skinning, plucking, or using the parts is supposed to decrease your honor. So if your shooting birds left and right without getting an honor drop then something is wrong with your game (but in a good way that is helping you out).
@@ryanswaynow I apologize for making it sound like I was calling you dumb. I should never write any comment until at least an hour after the first cup of coffee or at least an hour before bed time. What sounds like being witty in my mind often falls short.
An easy way to complete Challenge 8 would be to heading out to Watson's Cabin in West Elizabeth, during the second encounter, using a Dead Eye tonic and using the Winchester rifle to disarm the 3 sons appearing through the door, by shooting express bullets
That seems like it is against the rules because of the no reloading stipulation. If I have too much more trouble with this, I might try it though. Challenge 8 is why I am reading all the comments.
Challenge 6, easiest way is to do it the mission The Sheep and the Goats, where you buy the Rolling Block Rifle, make sure you get the long scope and some high velocity ammo, once up the hill aim for one of the ranch hands, job done.
Sharpshooter 7 is completely bugged for me. Tried the same spot as in this video with the Carcano rifle with high velocity and express ammo, Tried in the Valentine saloon within a single dead eye with the Litchfield repeater with split point and explosive bullets, Tried shooting alligators in the eye, between the eye, from the side, from the front, And nothing, and I've never seen it go to 1 of 7 consecutive headshots in the challenges menu.

4 was easy,I just went to valentine and used deadeye to mark the guy from the top of a building at the other end of the end
This shit is hard idk if I’m moving too far away or not but I can’t hit the target even tho it’s marked 🙃
@@isaaccolwell6468how did you do it I've been trying for an hour and it still doesn't hit the enemy

Just keep trying it’ll take time just know it’s not impossible
@@isaaccolwell6468 I just got back online and noticed that my John is underweight so I was like eating canned beans for 10 min and I got it first try
This whole time I thought challenge 6 meant “six different animals”. Thank you for clarifying, and saving me a bunch of time
For the 'Kill 6 animals without reloading...' I used explosive bullets in my revolver and went to the swamp and killed 6 gators. Easy peasy.
Matthew Quick fuck you
Finally all sharpshooter challenges done.
#6 apparently can't be done with the Springfield.
By "scoped" it means one of the two guns that come with one automatically. So either the rolling block or carcano.
When i aim with my weapon and Im in dead eye then i shout and then the dead eye goes of ? What am i doing wrong ? Sharpshooter Challenge 9
@@Buster_derri you probably already figured it out but you can't shoot then keep dead eye on until late chapter 4 through the mission "urban pleasures". but you can do sharpshooter 9 way before then by using a shotgun and maintaining a decent distance
I only had to disarm 1 more person and John decided to climb a rock and put his gun away
Update: on the last one of my second try I accidentally shot his fucking face
Now this is why I love the youtube
You can use arrows for #8 .. Specifically poison arrows as the enemy will drop their weapon before dying. Be sure not to put your bow away or change weapons
But you have to reload?
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
His sharpshooter 9 was pretty clean. I failed like 2 times because I would always shoot the last on in the dome.
For sharpshooter 8 I tried your way and got lucky, cause when I came back for "disarm number 2", there was a second dude with a gun right next to the one I shot. So I disarmed both and that was it. :)
For 9 I went back to the same area as 8. Went a little further in to find a group of guys wearing hats and completed the challenge pretty quick.
Thanks for this it worked great
If you're in the epilogue, you can just pop into Armadillo to get a lot of these challenges done, like the seven straight head shots. You'll lose honor, but there's no law to go after you. Goes for some of the bandit challenges as well.
gr0bbelaar same with Van Horn I believe
@@Bovium Yeah. But in Armadillo they don't shoot back. :-)
gr0bbelaar I mean they’re all pretty much sick and dying, might as well end their suffering.
It’s possible to do Sharpshooter 6-9 during the last mission in Chapter 2
“The Sheep and the Goats”
Prerequisite: Pump Shotgun or Semi-auto shotgun
SS6- Purchase High velocity and a long scope with the Rolling Block. After scaring off the Ranch hands wait until the dot on the crosshairs is white when aiming at a ranch hand, use high velocity round + deadeye for headshot.
SS7- Get 7 headshots in a row during the shootout through Valentine. Deadeye optional
SS8- after loading Strauss onto John’s horse and the following cutscene you will be behind cover facing 3-4 lawmen.
For the 7 Consecutive Head Shots I took them heads in the Valentine Saloon after Michas Stage Coach Heist Cheers

I’m doing something wrong when it comes to the 80 foot tomahawk throw. I think I’m doing everything according to the technique, but when it release it only goes about halfway. I’ve tried using the homing tomahawk and had no luck. Any suggestions? What am I doing wron

Funny and lucky story about challenge 9: I found a Raider’s camp and decided to go in with a pump action shotgun. Does anyone know how to stay in dead eye after firing your first shot? For me after I shoot it goes out of dead eye so I can’t do challenge 9
At the beginning of the game, the "x" are placed automatically at weak points. Later you have to manually place them with R1 for PS4. I might have messed with some controlls without realizing, but I also found myself thinking "why doesn't Dead Eye work like it used to?"

sharpshooter 9 can be done before chapter 4 i did mine's in chapter 2. get two sawed off shotguns with no upgrades and dirty condition as well then go enter the backdoor of the valentine saloon go to the top of the first stair case and paint three of the guys on the poker table with dead eye on their heads then Boom challenge complete

Challenge #5 I went to Emerald Ranch. Walked into the sheep pen with my repeater
Split point ammo works best for challenges 7 and 8.
For challenge 6 I sniped a guard at fort Wallace, it seemed easier
OK I’m trying to do sharpshooter challenge number five and I’m doing exactly what this video shows by targeting birds in a single deadeye and not only is it just resetting before I get to six, regardless of whether or not I’ve switched-out or reloaded, but it’s also giving me negative honor points every time I shoot something. I had a near perfect honor level before this challenge and now I’ve lost my 50% discount!!!
I bet those birds are called "chickens" and you are losing honor because they belong to someone. I have never lost honor by shooting wild birds.
I know your comment is old, but your problem was almost certainly using deadeyes. Apparently, deadeye counts as a reload…I had the same issue as you.
An easy way to complete Challenge 8 would be to heading out to Watson's Cabin in West Elizabeth, during the second encounter, using a Dead Eye tonic and using the Winchester rifle to disarm the 3 sons appearing through the door, by shooting express bullets
You can also do it on chapter 2 with the pump shotgun
WARNING don’t use slug rounds
For 8 I just used a poison arrow. They tended to drop their weapons after being hit and I guess it counted
My tomahawk keeps falling short. But when I don’t go as far back to avoid this it doesn’t count the kill towards the challenge
The disarming challenge doesn’t let you use dead eye because dead eye automatically reloads your weapon
Sharpshooter 7 is completely bugged for me.
Tried the same spot as in this video with the Carcano rifle with high velocity and express ammo,
Tried in the Valentine saloon within a single dead eye with the Litchfield repeater with split point and explosive bullets,
Tried shooting alligators in the eye, between the eye, from the side, from the front,
And nothing, and I've never seen it go to 1 of 7 consecutive headshots in the challenges menu.
You can do Sharpshooter 9 with a shotgun just don't stand to close to the one you're shootting it won't kill the enemy but the hats will fly off, hope this helps :D
On challenge 9 What does it mean if the dead eye gets cut short after one shot!?
I got very lucky completing sharpshooter 6 to 9 in 5 minutes when I went over to the Odriscolls hideout.
