THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video. After watching my camera was functional in three minutes and that’s not an exaggeration. I really appreciate your time in putting this video on RUclips!
I love youtube for exactly stuff like this!!! I have an old Olympus OM-G I bought back in the 80s as my first "real" camera. It had this exact problem. I took it to a camera shop and they said it would probably be 2 or 3 hundred dollar to fix IF they could find the parts. Found this video and 5 minutes later, it's working like a champ!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for this video, my springs were misaligned and simply putting them back into place resolved the issues I was having with my advancer. Saved me £120 that I was quoted from a camera repair company!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I have the same camera which I bought just a while ago, and it got stuck like this after my second roll. I took it to a repair shop, they said it would take 2-3 days and quite a bit of money, and I guess they did not know exactly what was wrong. So I decided to handle it myself and managed to fix it in minutes thanks to you. Have a great life!
Thanks so much for this! I was really nervous about opening up my Om-2 (I don't know why) but after watching you I did and fixed the problem! Thanks a million
@@polkapyr I'll be getting Nikon F100. Coming from digital, I believe I can easily get comfortable with it, as it pretty much digital slr that shoot film.
My Om10 shutter only fires after i wind the film lever twice everytime i take a shot, so im missing one frame after every shot. What could be the problem with it?
Hello I bought Olympus OM10 and I found out that I can’t choose iso because round button does not move Could you give me some advices what should I do with that ? Thank you so much for answers
Nice find Kenneth! Of note too, I have noticed that in later OM models like the OM10, OM20 (here) and OM4 bodies employ a modified 'frame' that holds and connects the idler gear + film curtain gear. Olympus must have had problems over the years with earlier designs on their OM1/OM2s? I have a problem with my OM2N - the idler gear's return spring is too weak, hence the jamming. I need to go and find some torsion springs online and modify them to fit. :o) regards James.
Thank's James, If you can find another not working camera you maybe could take part's from that and in that way use it in OM2N. (just an idea) Cheers Kenneth
I have a praktica bc1. The shutter fires fine without film installed but when I load a fresh roll the film won't advance. Is it worth getting repaired. Sometimes I have to manually return the screw underneath by hand for the shutter to fire?
Hello.i have a olympus om4ti.its got the same problem with the idle gear. I took the part out,but now cant figure out if i have to tension the gears or just put the part back in as it is.
Thank you very much for this video! I have a Olympus 4ti that seems to have the same problem. I opened it and did the same procedure as you, but I didn’t have the oil/liquid, so it was back to the same problem again. I must buy some oil/liquid to fix it, can you just tell me what you used? I’m pretty nervous to drop some wrong liquid into the camera.... 😱 Thanks again.
Hello! May I know how do you remove the winding lever from this camera, because I find this kind of winding lever unique, unlike other cameras. I'm trying to clean my Fuji Ax multi Program
My film advance isn't stuck but the tooth thing that holds the gear won't allow it for me to shot. I usually shoot with dlsr so I have no idea what anything is called aside from basics and film advance lever with works find the issue is at the bottom and is not the spindle
I have a Olympus om30 but the advanced leaver has the same issue. But it is not what you did in the video . So im not sure how to fix it. Could the batteries be a problem ?
I have no idea because I have not worked much with Minolta camera's. But many old cameras will, over time provide the almost same issue's, and if can often help with some lighter fluid and sewing machine oil. And in other cases one need to take some part of the camera apart and clean the part's and lube it again.
hi bro, my camera always battery runs out then i put new battery, after 1 minutes this battery hot & again runs out battery again, after I check battery check not sounding voice. my camera Olympus om 10
Hello. I have a OM-2 and the mirror doesn’t come back down after you take a photo. I tried to reset it but that didn’t work. Is there any info you can give me that might make it work? Do I have to replace or fix the idler gear? Thank you.

Wow, that's great to know :-), and you too have a great life :-)
Thanks so much. This helped me with an advance lever related problem in my OM10.

That's great to know, I'm happy you could fix your camera, and there will be more video's from me sooner :-)
You are an awesome awesome human being and I don't even own an Olympus camera.😁
Oh, thank you Terence I try to do my best :-)
Hi, I have an OM-2. I'm experiencing the same issue with my camera. Would this fix also work with my body? Thanks!
Great video and explanation, thanks
I really want to get into film cameras, but this is a third film camera, I'd bought and had film advance issues.
My nikon n2000 doesn’t even have a film advance lever, maybe try that camera

Thank you so much
Do you happen to know how to pix this issue on the Pentax super program? In here now poking at all the moving parts to see if I can find the issue.
Sorry, I don't know the Pentax super program.
Thanks

You can use 2-3 drops of Isopropylalcohol 70% - 99% on a cotton bud, and then lube it with 1 (one) tiny drop of the very thing sewing machine oil.
mikeno62 Thank you very much!
Thanks for this. I know it's an older video but does this camera need a battery for the shutter to function?
Yes it does.

Does having fully charged battery help?

What I did with my father’s old camera was move the thing to the right of that bottom lever, and somehow it engaged into the action.
Good video. Thanks.
Does the same thing happen with minolta X series cameras?
I have no idea because I have not worked much with Minolta camera's. will this procedure damage my film?
If there is not other things wrong, I would say no.

@@arianna6671 It sounds like a short circuit if anyone else reads this.
Hello! I have an Olympus OM- PC, and it is simply not turning on, even with a battery change. Any ideas?
It could be corroded wires or battery contact, sometimes you can see it under the bottom plate.
Wow iam pissed I just bought a camera and this shit don’t wind iam ticked off
