Three-knuckle punching is my favourite. Karate and kickbixing grandmaster Joe Lewis says the same as Dempsey. Thank you for the video.
And this is what Joe Lewis says in the video "Joe Lewis at the Jeet Kune Do Martial Arts Academy, Huntington NY 1of3":
Most martial artists, they punch with two knuckles. I think that’s incorrect. If you read Jack Dempsey’s book , he always talks about three knuckle contact. This little third metacarpal bone, it runs right here. Three knuckles - see the bottom three knuckles? That way these metacarpal bones are straight with the forearm ones, whether it’s this way, 45 degrees, or vertical.

Good video. I have Colonel Thomas Monastery's book, I haven't read all of it. I think Championship fighting is a much better book for learning how to punch imo. First video I've seen with both guys mentioned.

Could you show how Monstery generated power on his straight punches.
I know he aligned his shoulders but it also says he through his hips back to counter balance the punch going forward.
What's you take on this ?
