      As for the future, - I fear unfortunately that next week all the surgeons, rocket scientists & engineers that come to our country to stay in our 4 & 5 star hotels will be there fishing the place empty to fill their bellys. At Stanborough Lakes today there were a group of 4 guys with a net curtain stretched across the chalk stream, & a landing net to fish out the bigger specimens (which appeared to be anything between 1lb & 5lb); Which were promptly flung into a bin bag inside a holdall. They didn't seem to care that people could see what they were doing; & when asked - said "no speak ingleesh". Called up plod - Not interested. Called up the Environment Agency - No Answer !. What a s#!thole this country is becoming as a result of the malfeasance of the imbeciles allegedly running things & maintaining the waterways & rural affairs. Sadly those who are meant to care - Just don't.

      That's truly shocking...There will be nothing left in a very short space of time...but hey-ho let it all go down the toilet pan...Why worry when half the Government don't even know what's really happening out in the real World and the other half are wokey lovers ,wet as a rag in a washing machine with the backbone of a jellied eel !!...Don't get me started ,it will only give me a sleepless night of simmering rage...Thanks for your comment though.

    It truly is a pleasure, and a privilege, to be invited along on your adventures, Graeme.
    Superb session! I was worried that beautiful barbel on your firs chuck was going to be the dreaded “first cast curse”, but it turned into the exact opposite! First cast blessings! What a lucky boy you were.
    The legacy you are building here on RUclips is phenomenal! The lessons, knowledge, and tips you are leaving for future anglers is a totally awesome resource which will benefit all anglers for years to come. God bless you, Sir!
    Tight lines, my friend. 🐟

      I'm certainly not in it for what I can get out of it,hopefully as you say it will be something I can leave behind that future anglers can dip into,either for some unusual old school fishing tips or just a bit of enthusiasm to get others out there fishing. I do know some people have said they go back into some of our early films again even though they watched them first time round,which must say something about the content.I just wish I had a video camera 50 years ago to show what some of our rivers were like .

    What you said about recasting a feeder every three minutes. I think it was Keith Arthur who said to choose two swims. Fill the feeder and cast to the first, count to 50 then recast, count to 100 and recast, count to 150 and bring it in. Chose the second swim and repeat then go back to the first swim. Repetitive feeding is what brings results, no more 'chuck it and chance it' which ledgering was said to have been about.
    That's a good swim you have there. Don't tell anyone where it is or the circus will arrive there. Nice one Graeme.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Год назад +1

      I imagine there are loads of swims with Barbel,its just finding them. I must do a bit more roving with less gear next season,try to find some new spots. May I ask why you use such a long hooklink? Is it because of the fast flow, ie you don't want the bait in the feeder passing the baited hook too quickly? I'm an inexperienced river fisherman! I'm hoping to fish the Kennet this season, so any tips most appreciated.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Год назад

      I was given the tip by Woody in the tackle shop a few years ago.Maybe its because the Barbel might be wary of the feeder itself and lie back a bit picking up loose feed further downstream.

  • @Rose.Of.Hizaki

    as point of note - Probably an old trick but seasoning your luncheon meat a day or few days before with some curry powder also sends the carp and barbel mad. I only used curry powder back in the day but im sure other spices will work.
    Bit of curry powder, let them chill in the fridge then on the day you go fishing you could even stick them the microwave for about a 40 seconds to a minute to get the oils in the meat going and your set for catching a monster.
