This is where you excel Lewin. I’ve been a subscriber from the start of this channel and you are one of the best at explaining mixing concepts that others over complicate. This video is a prime example. You deserve more subscribers. I think you would do very well hooking up with the likes of Paul Davids, Joe Gilder and Rhett Shull. I know you’ve done stuff in the past with Marty Swartz but you’re definitely one of the most established content providers and it would be great to see more coproduction on your channel.
After 8 years I suddenly understand signal to noise ratio. Thanks man I’ve been watching your channel since 2012 actually well before I actually started experimenting myself!
Wow Lewin - the amount of videos I have watched trying to learn about compression and you smashed it in 10 minutes. I actually get it now! Thank you so much ❤️🙏
Gracias so much. not only is explained very good but your english pronunciation is excellent that I could understand the whole information explaned. Thanx
Thank you so much...I finally found a great video that explains compression and gain staging in GB ... I think I grasp the concept now. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Awesome! I will try this.
Don't forget. You want to get those peaked out levels only when you are recording in 16bit. The huge benefit of 24bit recording is that you have a ton more headroom.
The thing that confuses me is the lack of a release on these compressors. Am I wrong to assume that you almost need to use two compressors to properly control the attack and release?
Great and very helpful video, man! Just subscribed!!! I just have a question, do I have to add compression and gain to every instrument and voice track that I record? Thank you in advance!! 🙌

So glad you’re back making new content! This is super helpful and informative - compressors can certainly be tricky to get right.

what version of gb are you talking about????
Hey man I don’t understand how you can possible keep the sound landing inside or close to the slider without compressing the shit out of it?
Why would a bad gain structure cause the export to sound different than playback in GB? ELI5 please...
thank you. what does the transparent ball represent?
Very helpful:)
Great and very helpful video, man! Just subscribed!!! I just have a question, do I have to add compression and gain to every instrument and voice track that I record? Thank you in advance!! 🙌
This was great! Do you have the "Export projects at full volume" box clicked when you export?
Thanks.
No! Always uncheck that box!
Hi Lewin just rewatched this video. Should you record midi at approximately 41; If you record guitar
between 25 and 50 (average 33) (127 =100%)
For some reason, the bubbles are not transparent on my version (10.4.3).
Hi Lewin. So all your instruments and vocal should be mixed this way? If so this is a great guide and thank you!
Yes! It's going to help you a lot!
@@GaragebandandBeyond help I need. Lol
Does it apply for vocals also?
PS Does Logic Pro X work this way too?
