Froli springs is what’s under the mattress. You can buy them and they’re not very expensive. Easy upgrade to any rig. Also, the Sprinter Ekko is 2.5” wider and 18” longer so it is bigger. My limit is 24’ because a few places I like to go have a 24’ motorhome max length limitation. The Sprinter Ekko is a no go for me for that reason. Some things to also consider is the reports of 1200.00 Mercedes routine service bills, a lack luster dealer network, complicated and finicky diesel emissions systems and B05 diesel fuel limitations.
FYI. The EKKO uses propane for hot water and furnace heating system. The Condor uses the hydronic heating system which uses gasoline. The only reason the Condor has a propane tank is for an outside propane connection such as the outside stove or gas fire pit, etc. So, don’t need 2 tanks as in the EKKO. I think this is a much better design. BTW, the outdoor kitchens are options on both rigs.
I like your down to earth approach with the RVs and the cost as well. Too many RV folks on RUclips act like money grows on trees and that just isn't how I roll. I always look for value which means usually not the cheapest item but also not the most expensive. Safe travels my friends!!
As for one or the other? I like the Ford one better but the quality isn't there so I would still just buy the van and build it myself. But I like watching your videos and getting ideas. In the end, I am going to get another Class C, not a van. Vans are just too small of a space and parking is not an issue for me. I think there is a lot more value in a Class C. and they aren't even close to as expensive as a van. Thank you for going to the trouble of making your videos. I know they are a lot of work and I do truly enjoy every one of them.
Thanks for sharing! We love hearing what others would do. Vans are small. So many pros and cons. We love the convenience of them but they are small and we both would love a little more room. Small Class C’s seem like the better option but in the end it does depend on each persons needs. Anyways, Can’t wait to hear what you end up getting!
I know I write a lot of smaller comments, but I do that for you. It helps with your algorithm in that more comments equals more popularity, equals more recommendations from the algorithm to others to see your videos. I also try to touch each of the URLs you put on these, in case you get some sort of kickback from those, as well. And besides, I found a few things I have added to my shopping list from these recommendations. :) so, win/win! hehehe
I love the ekko! Bob working on those A+ camera angles hahaha, nice drone shots! I think the second one has cooler and nicer stuff overall, it’s a bummer the table is fixed and I have gottttttt to have a comfortable lounge space. I want a van w a recliner hahah I lovveeeee the cup holders in back. Hahahaha I love the blooper at the end. You should put a fun blooper at the end of each video to encourage people to watch to the end!
We like the Condor mostly because of the length. However both are pretty long for our purposes. Also, why 50 gallon water tanks and 4 gallon cassette toilet? I would have preferred they take up one of those dinky little storage spaces on the driver's side with a 20 gallon black tank. Overall thanks for the really cool reviews. Simply amazing
It would have been better if they just did a composting toilet and leave me that 50 fresh so I can boondock. Stop being afraid of the compost toilet. It’s better than cassette and black tank. Cassette is the absolute worst.
I heard that the air flow system under the mattress is to keep mold from growing on the mattress. Essential from what I've heard. Both are nice vehicles.
We are fans of the Ford Chassis as well! Seems like maintenance would be cheaper too. But you are right if this is a definite "If money wasn't a factor" Situation for us as well! 😂
@@Vancaskeys If money wasn't a factor for me, I'd go for the luxury 500k overland vehicles. Environment and nature be damned! 😅 J/k I couldn't justify 7 miles to the gallon even as a rich person. lol
Thanks, Hillary and Bob! If I were to buy a B+, it would be the Ekko for sure. That bed system and ducted hvac. 👍🏼👍🏼 It just seemed more roomy overall. Not to mention the space saving fridge/shower combo! Quite the innovation. 🤔😉 Love the outtakes. 😅
Heard it is loud inside the rv going down the road. They all are I'm sure but, we just looked at one here in key west where we are staying . So we have a good idea about the one we like .
Well done. I think this twin rear bed floorplan is a fav for many. Leisure Travel also makes a similar model. Be cool to review all similar options. Yeah, the prices are 70k more than they should be.
I think other than the Mercedes chassis, beds 4 inch longer, center ducted air, higher clearance, it's 8" longer giving more seats & (convertible) extra bed. and slightly bigger garage. 😉
Your guys are great. Love your content. You should check out the AEONrv. It's a super insulated box on the transit chassis. 8.2 KWh BattleBorn batteries, all Victron controls, 700 watts of solar. Has a quiet heat pump mini split A/C mounted on the back.
:) WELL DONE indeed! Tough call as both of them seem well designed and built. Just a little shy of Mercedes maintainence costs? THANKS for sharing and that was a HUGE RV show / place! ALL the BEST and Cheers! :)
Hey Hillary!! Thank you for highlighting the price(s) of these RV's are completely crazy! Yes, in many parts of the Country, you can buy a house for what they are asking for these RV's. It would be very interesting to hear what the profit margin is on these RV's.
Good review! Love the Elko. We have a Thor sanctuary on the Mercedes! Thor is not our favorite! We would love if you could give tank sizes fresh, grey etc..
We have been shopping for a full year to buy a new motorhome and looked at this one. Couple things we were concerned about is getting up in the middle of the night and falling down the steps in the dark. Our second concern we had was the windows are acrylic and after while they could end up with spider webbing scratches. The only thing I wasn't sure about is whether it has the new Mercedes 4 cylinder twin turbo with more horsepower and torque or the older 6 cylinder engine. We ended up ordering the new 2024 Tiffin Wayfarer RLW .Glad you're getting rid of Mr lemon
For LESS money you can get an Entegra Odyssey SE (Class C) on the E-450 chassis AND a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to be your toad for hitting the trails and driving into the city. (Or be your backup in case the RV breaks down.) More of a pain to drive, but you get a whole lot more capability, flexibility and convenience for less money. Not to mention you get a Rubicon out of the deal to enjoy when you're not RVing! But then again, if you're going to tow something, you might as well just get a travel trailer like the Winnebago Hike 100 FLX or Micro Minnie FLX and save some serious money. I know, this is about Class B and B+ RVs, but given their cost it's certainly worth considering alternatives. Most people would be FAR better off financially staying at motels and Air BnBs. And there's something to be said for traveling "light."
I like that the Ford offers four wheel drive. It can be a God send sometimes. You didn’t mention if the Ekko was a 4x4. The water capacity is a big deal for us as we tend to stay out in the boonies. Although I am a Ford man, you can’t go wrong with a Mercedes. I am blown away by the price. Great video, you guys did an awesome job. We almost went to that show too.
I have a 30’ Winnebago class A. Small for a class A but BIG compared to the EKKO. I was at Winnebago for service, did the tour, watched them building the EKKO and spoke to a number of EKKO owners. Very impressed with the EKKO. Except the price. For us, we prefer the bathroom of the EKKO and the Mercedes chassis. The ac in the bedroom is nice for quick cool back there but is also louder when trying to sleep. Prices are pretty crazy on these, or B+ in general. We seriously were considering downsizing to a B+ but our present lifestyle fits better in the A. If only we could afford both! Excellent video. Thank you
We have a 23’ Winnebago Class A. (Model WCF23RC). Owned it for 18 yrs and still love it. A little TLC and maintenance each year and it is so comfortable and works so well. It fits in National Park campgrounds (
One thing else to consider. Like all German cars, they are more expensive to maintain and repair. They have more Ford dealers throughout the country than Mercedes does. Longer wait times at Mercedes, for sure. You also didn't give the amount of Solar or Inverter capacities. Maybe I need to just go back and see the quick spec sheet you pop up to see. But talking it out in comparison items would have been as helpful as bathroom, kitchen and dining area that you did compare Ford vs Mercedes. Otherwise, great video guys!
Yes, 8" longer overall, beds are 4" longer and box is a bit wider, I think. Although I prefer the Ford for drivability. Lower to the ground and faster pick up speed.
Very nice but how can you justify the cost over the 2024 Coachmen Cross Trail Extreme EV RV 20XG which seems to have better features. I do like the split beds and cassette toilet on the Ecco but can't get over the price. What would you recommend?
Check out the two videos on the EKKO transit and EKKO Mercedes from the FitRV. They have a Transit. But Mercedes wasn't available until now. There are a lot of differences. The Mercedes is longer overall. Good videos to compare.
One thing I noticed that was not mentioned and not compared is the Cargo Carrying Capacities of each. Two very different chassis with similar builds but different in building materials and options. The CCC would be a huge factor for me on a comparison decision.
that "cutting board" fits where the cooktop sits in the drawer for more counter space.. I own the sprekko, so im biased but I looked at the other brands.. far prefer the sprinter base
Do you think you could put a car seat on either of those back seats? I feel like these RV's aren't really tailored for a family. I may be leaning towards a F550 / Dodge5500 DIY truck camper like a custom Hilt or something similar. I completely agree, why the need for a sink in the bathroom, I feel like it would never be used. Agreed the transit's bathroom more as well!
It is not hygienic to perform your ablutions in the kitchen sink, where foodstuff and dinnerware are handled. That is why a separate bathroom sink is desirable!
Hi guys! I am not sure about the car seat option. I would hope so. We have reached out the Storyteller to see if we can tour the Hilt...fingers crossed they let us! It does look like a great option!
Toured one of these and a Transit Ekko side-by-side at a dealer yesterday. I strongly prefer the Entegra to the Transit Ekko and, considering that the MSRPs of both are nearly identical, the Entegra is a much better buy from a features standpoint. My only big concern with the Entegra is them sacrificing a MaxxAir fan for that stupid skylight. Agree on the lounge, not comfortable and would need to be upgraded. Also, no three-point seatbelt for a rear passenger in the Entegra if you travel with more than one additional person. There is a carseat anchor, however.
You can see the better build quality of the Ekko over the Condor. Too bad you couldn't get that 2025 Ekko floorplan on the Ford chassis. One advantage of the Ford chassis is there are more Ford dealers coast to coast who can service it.
we really love our B we had a C for a few years and i just didn't like the engine noise in the cab it was hard to carry a conversation and or watch videos we test drove the ekko and as much as i loved the floor plan it was just like having a C
I could get a really good quality Class B for $178K! I thought Class C's were supposed to be cheaper than B's! I like the Echo better too. The bathroom conversion is what puts it over the edge.
Great vid, do you recall if the Ekko had swivel seats? Also did the Ekko have the propane tanks that you can remove? The tanks are the reason I like the Ekko.. Edit, you answered the questions towards the end lol. Rumor you can't swivel the seats without opening the doors.. (if you answer that later 🤣🤣😂😂)
Sprinter “A” service oil change (13 liters of oil!+ checks?) is $800 Canadian. The “B” service is $2000. Good fuel mileage but keep in mind you’ll be adding DEF fluid too. IDK, but I need some help understanding the advantages of the diesel Sprinter vs the gasoline Transit. Can someone explain please.
I'm surprised the Mercedes EKKO doesn't have an outdoor kitchen. It's an option on the Ford chassis model - and isn't the Mercedes a longer vehicle by a couple of feet? (If you look at The Fit RV channel when they bought the first EKKO off the assembly line, James and Stef opted for no outdoor kitchen and turned that space into a litter box for their cat Instead!)
I’m digging the Ekko!!! Did you happen to notice the gas mileage? I watched a video on a 2022 and the couple said they were getting about 10 miles to the gallon!!!! 🤦🏼♀️
@@miss.kimpossible We downsized from a Travato G. It was too big and the access to storage was so difficult under and above that narrow 6-foot long bed. Also happy to get rid of things we never used like a TV and generator. I do miss the big fridge, but I'm happier with the Pocket. Less is more.
I’m a Winnebago girl but the Entegra is surprisingly nice. That being said, the cost of maintenance on the Mercedes will be more, if you aren’t doing it yourself. Both are too expensive 😮
Our Froli sleep system is comfortable, but another thing that needed warranty work. We are careful with what blankets we tuck under the bed. The Froli gets caught on blankets, which will break the system. If I had the money and was choosing between the two, I would choose the Ekko. But. So far. For the money, I like the Coachman that you toured a couple weeks ago. I like the table to turn into a bed and the room in the garage and the stove not in a drawer. I don't have a cassette toilet and have never had one so I don't know if that would be good or not. Coachman has a regular toilet. I think this Ekko is so much more money because it's a diesel. So if you need and can afford a diesel, that probably isn't too bad a price. As diesels go.😊
I agree, really like the features of the Coachman 20XG EV. Have been looking at Class B's for some time, but the extra space would be nice and the dual energy options of the 20XG are appealing, along with the price vs the B's that I have been looking at.
Hate the froli as it catches the sheets and bedspread in our Travato G model with the murphy bed. It was so bad Winnebago finally replaced it in the newer models with a sprung wood slat approach that still allows air flow under the mattress which was the major reason for the froli. Added comfort was second. The Ford Condor lacking air flow under the mattress sitting on the board will eventually create mold unless you buy an aftermarket solution to get air under the mattresses.
Entegra is owned by Jayco which is owned by THOR. Enough said. While the interior colors are much better in the Condor and I like the outdoor kitchen I'd still have to go with the Ekko. We are current Winnebago Travato owners and love it.
Just rent unless you’re retired. Wife and I are just wrapping a two week multi state road trip in an LTV Wonder Corner Bed and it was awesome but the wife and I are good on that amount of driving and duration for a least two years. Quick weekend trips to Joshua tree or other local areas for sure in between the big trips like this one. It’s fun and amazing but also tiring and long. Renting is the best and you can switch up whatever type of rig you want depending on the place you’re going or time you’re traveling.
Isn't the heat vents black and closer to the floor because heat rises. Cold air drops so makes sense ac vents would be on the ceiling while heat vents close to the floor.
Who makes the Ford condor? Is that made by Winnebago? Isn't the Ekko a diesel vs. Ford being gas? I do not prefer the Mercedes because I do not like the location of the batteries located under the drivers side floorboards. Also, I've seen that they do not come with a dip stick to check your oil. You have to check it on the dashed. If it is a diesel, the oil changes are MUCH more expensive than the Ford. Mercedes = $$$. But the dinette was a lot nicer in the Mercedes. Either way, thanks for showing both. You both do an awesome job. I definitely would have bought the Mercedes if the shower was in the fridge. Keep those videos coming!!!
Wouldn't buy either one without a test drive. I was not looking at these two models but it was an MB and a Ford my mind changed a lot after driving them. I think RV reviews are really missing this part. On the ones you are looking at ... I have seen how you use them...make sure you check that payload or OCCC on the door. Again this should be part of all reviews. They don't share payload data on web sites because they say you never know what options are on the vehicle. Good luck.
I’m 30k into my own build. Tiny home trailer and a hummer. I’m not the type to buy something like this. I would rather build something myself. Probably would get a military truck with that kinda cash.
Froli sleep is great! The Elko would be my choice only if it had the Ford chassis! Even here in Europe the Ford Chassis has a better drive comfort ( I guess that's what you would call it) than the Mercedes. Merc. is much more expensive to service and a lot less service points for them around the world compared to the Ford.
THE FROLI SLEEP SYSTEM !!! They are awesome and made for air-flow -- I would pick the Ekko as well
Thank you!! I just couldn't remember what it was called LOL!
Easy install. Also think about the dealer network for the Ford versus Mercedes. I would go with the Condor.

They showed the Sprinter based EKKO, the outdoor kitchen is only an option on the Transit Based EKKO.

That be so sweet!!!!
What is price on this one?
I agree no need for a sink in the bathroom, when there's a sink right outside the door.
Excellent video on two exceptional models. I agree the price point is a real downside. Loved seeing all the features in these new models.
Mercedes oil change alone will cost a king's ransom. Ford parts and service can be found everywhere. It's a no brainer for me.
That's what we would be afraid of!
Id add a alt charger. Huge fan of Earthroamers set up. Totally self reliant.
Hands down, EKKO! 👍🏻❤
👏👏👏
I wish someone would talk about the chassis differences….regarding drive train and the reliability of each compared?
Are they both diesel?
Mr Lemon should have that Frolli bed system, I do in Ms Lemon!
So awesome! We would love to have that too.
@@Vancaskeys, I’m surprised you don’t have it! Mine had to be replaced because it was broken in so many places.
Condor/Granite Ridge uses a Timberline Binar 5D hydronic heating system. The heat and hot water heater use gas from the chassis, not propane.
I believe the Ekko is wider. Just in looking at where the cab meets the body. That might be what makes the dining area more spacious.
So does the bedroom still lack heating ducts in the EKKO?
I’m digging the Ekko!!!
Did you happen to notice the gas mileage? I watched a video on a 2022 and the couple said they were getting about 10 miles to the gallon!!!! 🤦🏼♀️
I wondered about that. It's really hard to find that sort of information. I'll stick with our wee Solis Pocket. We get easily over 20.
@@TrishBenedict I have a Solis Pocket, too!
I love it too. except i dont want diesel or def.
Yeah...good point.
You mentioned headroom but how tall are you?
One Day i will Buy it 👍🏻
👏👏👏
I’m a Winnebago girl but the Entegra is surprisingly nice. That being said, the cost of maintenance on the Mercedes will be more, if you aren’t doing it yourself. Both are too expensive 😮
Agree 💯!
Quick question... I've watched a few of your videos and it's not clear how tall you both are.
Awesome!
Bob is 6’1
Hillary is 6’
@@Vancaskeys ;-)
Did the Condor have the under mattress system?
Nm
Entegra is owned by Jayco which is owned by THOR. Enough said. While the interior colors are much better in the Condor and I like the outdoor kitchen I'd still have to go with the Ekko. We are current Winnebago Travato owners and love it.
I think the sprinter is a bit better. But what about comparing the Condor with the Transit?
Just rent unless you’re retired. Wife and I are just wrapping a two week multi state road trip in an LTV Wonder Corner Bed and it was awesome but the wife and I are good on that amount of driving and duration for a least two years. Quick weekend trips to Joshua tree or other local areas for sure in between the big trips like this one. It’s fun and amazing but also tiring and long. Renting is the best and you can switch up whatever type of rig you want depending on the place you’re going or time you’re traveling.
On the Entegra Condor the seatback cushions should have been raised to the level of the windowsill for back support. Otherwise, not bad
EKKO.However I would prefer the FORD chassis
Nice!
I’m not a fan of the Mercedes chassis, but otherwise I love the EKKO, I hope the improvements carry over to the Ford.
Gives extra counter top to be used in top drawer, EKKO hands down the better build ! More storage & solar and a lot more propane!!!
I like the entegra best.
Sweet!
I think that coachman crosstrail you showed a few weeks ago is better
Love the Ekko, but not on a Mercedes chassis. Repairs will not only be expensive, you'll wait forever for parts.
Ugh…that’s what we’d be afraid of!
Timberline hot water and heat, in the Condor & Granite Ridge. Both Ford, gas engine.
The a/c I don't believe is ducted, the vents are for heat in the bedroom.
