I remember our class busting the field trip budget for the classes that came after us for the next 10 years. In our 4 years we went to San Diego, groton sub training base, the old RTC Orlando with disney and epcot, ft Benning. They were all week long stays but that was back in early to mid 90s. We went multiple times, but we all kept each other in check not to embarrass our school or Navy. Great times.
Quick question I want to join NJROTC but I don't want to be one of the people that has to do all the things with the flag infront of the entire school during the assemblies, do they make every person that joins NJROTC do that or not?
If you’re talking about the team with two flags and two rifles, that’s an optional team to join, or if you’re in front of the platoon(class) marching with a flag, that is also optional. You can choose to be a leader or a follower. Nothing wrong with being a follower though, a good unit needs good leaders and good followers.
People in the colorguard team get a lot of respect within the unit though, it’s pretty hard to get into, at least in my school, with so many people and only a 4 person team, I barely made it in the team I got lucky when someone just stopped showing up to practice.

Both my kids were NJROTC. Southold NY. Daughters now ROTC at Purdue.
