    This is the best instructional video for fishing that I have seen, and I have seen a few hundred. The content is focused, the progression of topics is logical and the "take home" points are presented clearly and concisely. I appreciate your efforts and wish you the best.

    Great tips!! I tried the retrieves and they absolutely work. I’m not born knowing proper ways to retrieve these lures so watching these tips from a Pro really helps to get an idea. Thank you Sir.

    I know MirrOLure has endorsed one video on using the Catch 5, but I sure would benefit from another that you produced and narrated.
    Also, I’ve just thrown a Dark and Stormy Mirrodine 27 and the rattles have already jammed up into interior body crevices. I’ve tapped it on hard surfaces trying to free them to no avail. It is my one and only criticism of Mirrodines and I have caught specks and reds on ones that have completely lost their rattle, so vibration and flash still make them effective. I’ve also drilled a top hole on a number of Mirrodine lures and dropped 2-3 tiny stainless BB’s in there and resealed the hole with silicone caulk drops. That seems to have worked and the metal beads add their own rattle and jar the plastic beads loose.

    If nothing's happening, before switching lures it's good to change the retrieve. Two years ago in Colombia my buddy was throwing against a line of bushes and getting 2-3 pound peacocks while I fired a half dozen long casts with a redhead Mirrodine XL parallel to a sandbar off to the side, twitch/pause and nothing. The guide motioned me to throw to the bushes next to where my buddy was getting fish so I burned the Mirrodine back to the boat. About half way in Bam, a 15 pounder. The guide put it on the boga and shrugged. I cast again to the same area and burned it back Bam, a 16. The next trip to Brazil we pulled to the bank in a heavy rainstorm and were just sitting there so I threw the same XL to the middle with a twitch/pause and first cast Bam, a 20 pounder peacock.

    I'm a big fan of top water lures, mostly because of the top water blows up but also because of the style of retrieve. I'm intrigued by the catch 2000 and Paul Brown fat boy now, for perhaps the colder times of year when the top water isn't poppin. Thanks for the knowledge CA!

    The Catch 2000 is a trout catching machine. I’ve been out with people throwing spoons, paddle tails, imitation shrimp, etc and the Catch 2000 would be smoking the trout while everybody else is wearing their arm out.

    Great tips as always. I do have a question for you. I am wanting to quit using treble hooks on my 17mr and replace with inline hooks as I normally catch and release. What would you recommend?

    • @johnkarges8829
      @johnkarges8829 3 года назад

      Good question, I’ve put single in-line hooks on a number of subsurface twitchbaits, because of safety to the fish and fouling with suspended grass. I haven’t noticed any decline in hookups with single hooks replacing trebles.

    Good information but contrary to what he says in his introduction, I didn't see any fish being caught. In fact, I am having trouble finding any videos in which a mirrolure actually catches a fish unlike soft plastics like Berkley Gulp which catch a lot of fish. After years of bass fishing, I am starting to get into inshore saltwater fishing and I don't want to spend money on lures which only catch fishermen and not fish.

    • @ZZMOKIN
      @ZZMOKIN 4 года назад +1

      I use the tiny Spro swivel and split ring, loop knots degrade and will break unexpectedly, sometimes on a light cast. - have had it happen too many times. A uni to swivel retains its strength much better than a loop. The swivel/split ring will sometimes catch the belly hook because it hangs down on the pause but so does a loop knot to a lesser extent.
