Appreciate your tutorials I finally got my equipment set 2 mk2 controllers and rane seventy mixer working with HP laptop for now till I can upgrade to a mac But your videos have helped especially being self taught working with scratch patterns Thank you Dj Lift-off
YO YOOOOOOO AYE MANNNNNN this right here should push the envelope. I always find something new as I progress and it's the right video. I appreciate you!
As a seasoned DJ, it's ALL about time and money. If your credit is in the gutter and you have fallen on hard times, stick to seamless beat mixing and flawless programming until you get back on your financial feet.If you don't have the time to practice or the money to invest in the proper gear, don't embarrass yourself.
These are dope videos bro. More power to ya. Giving back to the community. I started in vinyl when I was getting my scratch on we went to CDs and as working DJs couldn't really perfect scratching. Now giging with controllers and looking at ur videos to get back to it. I find it extremely difficult to coordinate the fader hand with the scratching hand now, both my hands work the same way now, can't get it to disassociate. :(..any help with that will be appreciated.
Appreciate you bro! 🙏🏾 Glad you’re getting back to it - and I know exactly what you mean. I would honestly practice the chirp scratch first as it literally forces you to move your hands in opposite directions (pretty much) and once you’re comfortable with that, I think it’ll help you push forward!
@@DJLiftOFF yeah I was mastering all of that when the dual deck cd players came along. Denon was King at that time. I will work on the chirp and see where that takes me. Scribble and baby is what I do in my sets mostly now to add a bit more flare.
Question. when gigin. Where do you store your scratch demo? "sample pad" or just load it. My fear is. I'm trying to flex and hit a lick. But get lost searching for the sample and miss the next mix or just bomb that two min set.
I definitely hear you on that! Me personally, I just would load it, but I very rarely use the scratch demo when I’m in a set unless I’m trying to show off aha.
Can I ask which is your best hand? When I started out I was advised using my strong hand on the cross fader, but I've since heard very experienced scratch djs say that having your strong hand on the platter is advantageous because you can control the movements better. I can kinda see their point, since the cross fader is a simple on/off thing while the platter control can change the sound and flow of scratches in myriad ways. What's your opinion. Thanks for the content btw.
Great question honestly. I started by having my strong hand on the platter and doing a lot of chirps, scribbles, and baby scratches. It was super comfortable, but I realized my weak (left) hand couldn’t handle the crossfader with enough control to do transformers, stabs, and crabs - so I started over with my left hand on the platter and my strong hand on the cross fader and I can say that I’m literally split in between the two now depending on what kinda scratching I’m doing. I recommend practicing with both hands on the platter and the crossfader. Im working heavily on my left hand on the crossfader now and it’s tough, but I know it’ll take some time
You gotta strife for balance in both hands. If you only use one side then you wont leave your comfort zone and become better...and your beat juggle skillz will be way harder to get consistent. Always train everything on both side...and double the amount on the side you struggle with. Reps...and I mean tens of thousand of reps. Thats what it take to become good.
@@DJLiftOFF Thanks for the detailed response man. I stuggle with whatever aspect my left hand is trying to do. I guess being naturally strong with both hands would be a rare attribute that'd help no end with scratching. Sadly not an attribute I'm blessed with. Practice, practice, practice.
I always find myself getting sucked into your videos. I’ve been djing for years but you’ve helped break somethings down so easily that otherwise was harder to explain and even understand. Appreciate you fam

@@Presbiter You're right for sure. I ought take your advice because I'm very one sided
@@Shwahface During your day try as often to use your weak hand for stuff you would do usually with your strong hand.
