When it comes to politics, not actively disagreeing must be separated from actively agreeing, and when I hear an individual is part of the "alt-right," I assume this individual's views on all the issues have been confirmed, that they actively agree with X, Y, and Z. I also want to add that being ANTI-anything doesn't *automatically* mean you are PRO-anything. And, in order for the label "alt-righter" maintain any meaning, (imo) that requires being PRO-alt-right. Despite his past positions which were obviously wrong and harmful, as a transgender person I feel like Hunter is more in my corner than Mike from PA. Hunter put himself in the line of fire for what he believed in, sacrificing a lot of potential money and pissing off his fanbase but also likely deradicalizing a bunch of them. That's an honorable thing that most people on the right and even some on the left wouldn't do. I feel the same way about him as I do someone like Sam Seder or Vaush. Although I don't agree with him on everything I have a lot of respect for him because I know he's doing what he does because he truly believes in it. That's a really important quality for anyone to have.

Rant: Some of one's views can line up with alt-righters, but when I actually looked at Hunter's videos (before this), and I may be wrong, but there weren't many videos on even most of the positions held by alt-righters. Neither agreeing or disagreeing with them, so they just assumed he agreed with the alt-right on literally everything else...even though Hunter only confirmed that either way on a (comparatively) handful of issues. When it comes to politics, not actively disagreeing must be separated from actively agreeing, and when I hear an individual is part of the "alt-right," I assume this individual's views on all the issues have been confirmed, that they actively agree with X, Y, and Z.
I also want to add that being ANTI-anything doesn't *automatically* mean you are PRO-anything. And, in order for the label "alt-righter" maintain any meaning, (imo) that requires being PRO-alt-right. Unfortunately, though, everyone thinks of slightly different things when they hear these terms used, in general. :(
It's just difficult to separate video content, from how viewers interpret them, and from the fan community that grows around the channel...from any one individual behind the videos.

I think treating Hunter's politics as like, completely done changing, is short sighted. Dude hasn't even had a chance to go over every single issue and position to safely have an opinion on it. Hunter's hesitancy on tying himself down to any one label actually demonstrates, in my opinion, that he's actually determining what opinions of his are currently informed and safe to defend, and which ones he needs more time to get to because there are SO MANY POSITIONS POSSIBLE! I bet Hunter is going to move "more left" (which does need to be separated from changing what specific labels to identify with, because god damn is the terminology a mess!). Hunter literally just started changing his positions based on his research, which takes time. In my view, he hasn't even had a chance to decide where exactly he falls on all the issues...that Mike from PA is likely thinking about when he asks Hunter what labels he (currently) uses.
