I've been dealing with some really bad existential & delusional episodes today about the passage of time and the reality of existence as a whole, and your video really helped me calm down and keep me feeling in the present, so thank you for that: i am very grateful this video was recommended to me at the time it was, i really needed that.
I'm so, so glad this video helped!! I definitely can understand that on a personal level, so I'm very glad this video could be there for you! I hope you're doing well❤️
I highly recommend getting Kirby: Super Star Ultra whenever you get the chance. That’s easily my favorite game on the DS, as well as one of my favorite Kirby games in general. I still own my original copy to this day and fully 100%’d it.
I love the strong gaming connection you have with your childhood memories - it's quite infectious! 😀 I still look around for DS games for my collection, I feel very strongly about it (even though I bought most of them pre-owned). We intersect with Harvest Moon, FF, Zelda and Pokémon.😊 I don't recall seeing any Dragon Quest games ..? I think you'd find those engrossing. Many excellent ones are still trapped on the DS and 3DS.
Thank you so much!!!! That really, really means a lot! The DS is such a special console to me and there are so many gems to still pick up for it! In regards to Dragon Quest, I played XI on the Switch (and LOVED it) and have really wanted to pick up some older ones too! I'm really hoping to find some for a decent price on the DS😂
@@qualitea_individual unfortunately, I have seen very high prices for the older DQ games recently. But with a bit of luck and persistence, I hope you find copies because they're absolutely brilliant. Unless ofc Square finally (cough) decides to remaster them for the Switch. 😁🤞🏻
Pictochat on the bus! Our generation's note passing I remember my cousin spelled out "Caleb" with the letter stamps and for some reason that was the funniest shit I had ever seen
I remember when me and my family went to Best Buy to buy something and while there, I saw a Nintendo DS in the gaming section and played it for a few minutes and then after my obsession with it, I asked my parents to get it for me.
Awesome video!!! I love my DS too, such a great console!!! I'm still slowly making my way through some DS games but man oh man, there is a LOT of great games!
Thank you tons!! And right?? There's so much to choose from on it--with me planning to start buying more for the system, I have no idea how I'm going to make it through all of them😂
This was a fun watch and really cool to hear your history with the DS! I'm still kicking myself a bit for skipping out on this handheld era back when the games were more affordable 😅 Excited to see how you'll continue to grow your collection!
Thank you tons, Emily!! The DS definitely means a lot to me, and I'm super fortunate to have what I have! I've been going on some DS buying sprees since this video too😂 There's just so much there!
I used to have the original DS until a robbery, lost 5 DS games, all GBA games and the DS, replaced it with the Lite. The games I lost were: All Rayman GBA games, DS list; Rayman DS, Rayman raving rabbids 1, Shrek the Third, Scooby Doo Unmasked and Race driver create & race. 2 years later in 2010, I got the DSiXL and XBox 360, then the 3DS the year after. Fast forward to July 2014 when the 3DS brakes, then by the following Christmas I got the 3DSXL, then 2017 I got Miitopia and I didn't get new games for many years. My collection back then was 40 XBox360 games and 94 DS/3DS games. Now jump to February 2022, when I moved into my current house and 1 week later, 10th Feb 2022, I finally get the Switch, then starting my game collecting, finding new copies of al DS games I lost except for Race driver, but nothing of the Rayman GBA games, I got myself the Wii U, Wii, GBA, GameCube, Nintendo 64, mini SNES and PS4 (in that order). Now I have 200+ DS/3DS, 70 XBox 360, 5 XBox, 80+ Switch, 40 Wii U, 90 - 100 Wii, ~10 GBC/GBA, 16 GameCube, 4 N64, and 73 PS 1 - 4 games, and that only counts the physical games, digital adds about 200, half on Steam. And one of each DS and 3DS model excluding the original and "New" 3DSXL.
I just found my DSI....and I'm debating on if I should make a collection of Legos games (I love the sound and who doesn't love building)😅I'm 23 and ugh the Hanna Montana 😮🤣❤ I had it too!
i love Dragon's Frontier tcg and i'm also loved to play DS games!! Right now, i'm playing Platinum but yeah Pokemon DS games are my favorite :) Most likely Platinum, Soul Silver, and White version Loved your nostalgic DS games. The DS is the best console to me
19:25 I'm a huge fan of the imagine series and I totally agree with you, some of them are just lame af, but the other ones are absolut gems. I LOVED the teacher one, it was so fun to play with my cousins. Same for the modern dance one and the baby club one. The best one tho was the wedding planner one. It was the funniest game ever and I have such fun and good memories with it. From the music to the mini games you had to do in it. I have a core memory of me and my cousins playing this, making the bride sad by choosing all the wrong options just to see her falling to the ground while walking the aisle, or watching the groom getting sad because the bride didn't even show up at her own wedding! I swear it was the best game ever and we still play it when we are together!
Thank you!! And YES. I've played the Switch remake, but I really want to play the DS one--I absolutely love the story, but I think I'd have a better time gameplay wise on the original!
@@qualitea_individual You definitely won't regret picking it up 🙂I never played too many DS games to be honest, I spent more time playing the GBA SP before it and the 3DS after it, but it's definitely a standout for me. I need to actually go back and play it again but as i'm sure you know, so many games, so little time to play them 😄
I would also recommend Mario Kart DS, Mario Party DS, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Yoshi’s Island DS, Namco Museum DS, Ratatouille, Sonic Rush, Sonic Classic Collection, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Rhythm Heaven, Bratz, Chrono Trigger, Kirby: Canvas Curse, Ghost Trick, Metroid, Phoenix Wright, The Sims, Super Princess Peach.
i recently found a monster house DS copy, however this one has a free movie ticket included and also a sticker on the case that says it includes a free ticket, not sure if it’s rare or not but pretty cool !
I thought that an hour long video on a DS collection couldn’t possibly keep my attention for very long, but you’re so engaging and passionate when you speak that I’m eating my words! Great video! (Edit: I left this comment about a quarter of the way through, but upon watching further omg I love how much you love Professor Layton and other mystery games!!)
I love the ds lite also; it’s like an amazing evolution to it- I consider the ds lite something like an iPhone because the development, the size, the design absolutely game changing ;but
I've been feeling super nostalgic for ds games lately!! I recently bought the Namco Arcade game and it's one of the games I played the most. I only have the case for Pokémon Ranger Shadows but I'm searching for it! I never finished the game. I would always get stuck but now I want to finish it.
the imagine games were so odd and honestly kinda hit-or-miss - i had 3, and i actually enjoyed and played 2 of them a fair bit (imagine happy cooking, which had a really cute anime artstyle and a cute story about a little girl's stuffed animals; and imagine teacher, which i honestly quite enjoyed - you have to teach these kids a bunch of different subjects but also clean and decorate the classroom, seat the children according to who they're getting along with/who they fell out with that day, and each kid is good and bad at different subjects, they have different personalities, different dreams for life... i got weirdly invested). the third was imagine babies which was ... yeah, no ... not as fun lol
This was, once again, such a cozy and entertaining video 😇 can’t believe I’m not the only person that used to gift my top games to relatives in an attempt to convert them into the world of nerds lol
despite being the ripe age to get a DS back then, I never owned one b/c I figured my parents would say no (I did have a PSP though) so out of the recent DS games I've tried since adulthood, Bowser's Inside Story might be my favorite of the bunch, though big shout out to Hotel Dusk
Hotel Dusk is one I've been wanting to try out for a loooong time! I've heard awesome things! And the Mario and Luigi games are definitely high priority pick-ups! I've surprisingly never played any of them, but have Superstar Saga on my Wii U😂
I loved the stamp collecting side activity in Spirit Tracks. I agree it is a better game than Phantom Hourglass. Also your game cases are shiny as new!
LOL I don't know why I got this video in my recommendations but I clicked on it and I loved hearing you talking about Video games and hanging out with members of your family and play some games together :). Wish I had that was I was a kid but I grew up in a family were video games seen as a bad thing yup I remember sitting there having everyone in the family giving me the "you have done something wrong" look LOL, but this video made me want to go search for my old Gameboy Advance, PSP, 3DS XL and the games collection I had for those systems and after 3 hours search in the attic I finally found it :D and now my little gremlin is hooked playing some of the games her dad grew up with :D though I wasn't as good as you in keeping my game boxes. I mean If you check the systems I own you would think they are brand new just need new batteries, same thing for the games but since I had to work to buy my own games, trading game boxes for new games at the time seemed to be a good idea lol though now I do regret it xD hehehe. But Thank you for making this video, I completely forgot about my old collection and this video just made me remember and inspired me to go and look for it :D and now I'm thinking about going to pick up some of the games I wanted to play but couldn't save up money for :).
My nintendo ds lite was the pink nintendogs one with the pawprint and it broke so quickly like the hinge just snapped off and then the screen wouldn't turn on but I miss the ds lite era so much
That’s awesome, you’re either a Capricorn or an Aquarius; I love Aquarius - my sister and dad are, and I’m so grateful and thankful to have had my sister
My 8-year-old daughter loves Animal Crossing on the Switch. I'm just happy that she likes at least part of gaming. My 4-year-old boy is obsessed by Mario Wonder and Sonic (we've completed Sonic 2 together a number of times, now he's completing Sonic Mania on his own). My 10-year-old finished more games than I do nowadays.
I'm in my early 40s and I played FF4 first time around. The second FF game I finished after FF7. It's still one of my fav FF games. Not quite as good as VI and VII can't be beat (I was 17, brought it and beat it on release, Aeris broke my heart).
