    Hello! Loving the series so far! I think it's really neat that you decided to make this, pretty useful so far, wish you would've made this 2 years ago when I started working with HE lol. Anyway, I think a neat and useful tutorial would be on how to create new usable items, such as more weapons and such, it's a pretty big part of HE so I guess you probably already have it on your list lol, but just in case you don't. Also ofc these are just suggestions, not commands, it's your series and you have the right to decide what you make and what you don't! Cheers!

      Hi, I'm glad you found the series useful and yes, I couldn't start this series for a long time due to other responsibilities and busyness. Honestly, the part of Horror Engine that I dislike the most is the equipment system, as it doesn't have enough modularity. Based on my current experience, I would like to completely change this system with a major update in the future, but I'm still thinking about how to design it. For this reason, I can only make a tutorial video about adding new equipment after a possible update. Of course, this does not apply to environmental objects and usable inventory items.

    Thank you so much for doing this series. I am developing a game with your system and altough most stuff is really intuitive there was a lot I just couldn't figure out. Where I'm struck at the moment: creating an NPC character that I can interact with the same way I interact with horror engine assets and starting a dialogue this way.

    Hello from Brazil. You deserve more than a thousand coffees, believe me! I've been following HE practically since its first version (in 2018), and the upgrades in this version 3.0 are incredible, congratulations. I'd like to make a suggestion for a tutorial: "Current missions and completed missions". Currently, when we use a trigger to update the diary, the previous "mission" disappears, and the new one appears instead. It would be very nice if the missions were in a simple list, with completed missions crossed out in red, and ongoing missions in green (or another color). It would also be nice if this current mission panel were always visible in the "main hud" so that the player could follow which mission he is doing without having to press the TAB key. Another feature much appreciated in horror games (due to the dark environment) would be the highlighting of interactive objects by hovering the mouse over them (mouseover)

    You open the video with something I was LITERALLY JUST WORKING ON the other night. lmao! XD
    I paused it for now just to type this quick, I found a solution that worked for me but not I'm eager to see if it was the right solution or not. I walk making an overlap trigger to pair with a singlelayerwater material and a water physics material so that I could create the effect of the player wading through waist deep water. I got some help from someone in the HE discord to figure it out but now I'm going back to the vid to see how you recommend doing it versus how we did it! :D

    Completely off topic, but there is a slight bug when crouching under objects. If you press the input to "crouch" while you are crouched under something, it will change your crouch speed back to the "walking" speed. There should be some kind of check to see if the player character is under something, and if they are the "crouch" input shouldn't work, until the player character is no longer under something, if that makes sense?

      It may seem silly nowadays, but to be honest, I deliberately made this system similar to the one in 'Thief - The Dark Project' out of respect. In the next update I will add an option to disable it.

    First great tutorial! But I could REALLY use a tutorial about how to add a new equipment slot and another tutorial how to make AI interact with doors and maybe tings that he can take so you cant PLS MAKE THAT KIND OF TUTORIAL. And please make a tutorial how to make horror engine characther crouch so he can actually go under stuff not just simulating crouch. : )

      Thank you! For now, my first goal is to guide you through the existing features.
      The locomotion system has been updated with v3 and it's not just simulating the camera anymore.
      So, you can already go under anything if the croughing height shorter enough.

      Then you need to inspect the 'Movement Graph' of the 'HorrorEngine' blueprint in v3 and compare the crouch system with v2 and make the necessary changes.

    this engine is wonderful, not only for horror but also for any game in general. currently im doing a detective like puzzle game and those puzzle assets you have really help me out! i have a question however, i want to customize the ui to my own liking, and it seems the default highlight text (like the one that shows [tab] for diary update) is a shade of orange, even in the blueprint editor i change it to white yet it still pops up as orange, but when i change the font its perfectly fine

    I really need help on something. So, I'm making a video game using Horror Engine and I need help finding out how to make the character disable gravity as if he was swimming underwater or flying through the air.       Horror Engine has no restrictions to prevent you from doing this. You can switch to different modes with the Set Movement Mode function, but these built-in modes in Unreal Engine don't work very well. First of all, I suggest you watch some tutorial videos about flying / swimming in Unreal Engine. Then, let me know if you have any problems switching to these modes in Horror Engine.

      Yes it was removed because it caused too many problems when you try to edit the structures.

    Thank you tremendously for all of this it is amazing to be able to have and use, so many things!
    I was wondering is there a way to turn off the blur or depth of field while you are inspecting an asset using the blueprint? Cause whenever I do it, it's very blurry to the eye only when it is in the middle of the screen it partly looks fine but I would like all of it if possible
    I am trying to find it but no luck was hoping you could guide me with it

    You are amazing for these videos!!! I'm having an issue with UE 5.3 when i go to open my player inventory after creating a new level my editor freezes and i'm not sure how to stop it

      Since I haven't encountered such a problem yet, I can't tell you the solution, but I can make some suggestions. Test it on a different computer, if you don't have the same problem it might be related to your hardware or drivers. Delete some objects you added to the new level you designed and see if the problem persists. This way you can identify the object causing the problem by narrowing the circle. Let me know the results after these steps.

    any chance of a tutorial on the inventory system? I mainly only need that part of horror engine and it is very confusing to figure out where anything even is. I look into the player blueprint to try to find the interaction stuff, but all I find is movement and jumping, nothing about picking items up or entering the "use item" stuff, or really ANYTHING beyond moving and jumping. I can't even figure out how the footstep stuff woorks.

    Hello! Thank you a lot! I've encountered a problem that I can't seem to solve. I created a "physical object". According to the plan, I place it on a table. When the physical object overlaps with the table's collision, the table's collision should trigger an overlap event, and then I do a cast to my physical object. But to my surprise, when they overlap, the table's collision does not trigger the event overlap. Both ollisions are set up correctly, and I tried it with another physical object that I created from scratch. I noticed that if I change the setting in the physical object's for object type from 'usable' to 'physical object', the overlap event triggers and I get my physical object. Could you please advise how to fix this problem? Thank you for your help! UPD. I solved it, but it could be wrong way. Will see :)

    I am struggling to replace how inventory assets look when held. I can replace the pistol when its on the ground for pick up, but once in hand it only shows the default. I hope you can cover this soon but I know there's lots to show off for this awesome engine.

    Hello im having troubles trying to make a similar situation that you had with the valve and the door but cant figure out how to make the valve on the door invisible at the start

      The valve already exists, but is hidden in the game. The put trigger unhides the original valve when the fake physics valve overlaps it. Check out the Horror Event design of the speaker that gives the 'Welcome to Horror Engine' speech at the start of the game. Under the 'Environment' category, scroll down to 'Actor(s) to Hide/Unhide/Destroy'. Here you will see a 'HideBeginPlay' entry attached to 'Get All Actors with Tag(s)' and just below that you will see 'Hide In Game' and 'Disable Collision' checked. And if you look at the 'Tags' section of the Valve actor, you will see that the 'HideBeginPlay' tag is defined for it. In this case, the Horror Event on the speaker will hide all objects with this tag when the game starts. I'll explain more about the Horror Events in future videos.

    at 20:25 the "Modified Gameplay Settings" node will not connect to the "Select" node for me. I get a "Only exactly matching structures are considered compatible".. any idea why this is happening?

    How can I create enemies with walking, running, and jumping animations, and make them patrol randomly? Upon detecting the player, the enemies should pursue and chase the player. Once caught, triggering a death animation and transitioning the game to a Game Over state.

    Love using horror engine and all of its features but recently been having problems with the inventory button. Every time I hit "Tab" or anything to do with the inventory my UE5 crashes... Anybody know a fix?

      @@tansuergene Yeah I tried a fresh project and found that I only had the problem in v5.3 of UE5 so I went back to v5.2 and has been working fine since. I had a look on a forum on reddit and there was another guy that mentioned having the same problem. I'm just continuing my project in 5.2 and haven't had any issues since. Appreciate you getting back to me :)

      He said it was just Horror Engine it was happening in. Was just freezing in our own projects when doing anything to do with player inventory. It wouldn't happen in the demo level but happened straight away when making a new project without touching any blueprints, really weird. My specs are good, Ryzen 7 5800x, RX 6700XT, good RAM so don't think it was a system issue. @@tansuergene

      @@thehellini No, I don't think you have a bad system, I just wonder if there is a compatibility issue between AMD GPUs and something in HE/UE. Of course, to be sure, I need to ask the same question to other people who have the same problem. Can you also install a different GPU driver version and check it again?

      Yes, navigate to the "MainHUD" widget blueprint. Select the "UseIcon" image and change its "Size X" and "Size Y"

    I am having an issue i put the Cameroid blueprint in my custom level but when i take the photo it didn't develop i mean the photo is still blank or black. but when i take the photo in overview level which came with horror engine it took the photo and it developed properly. what do i need to do if i am using it in my own custom level? please help.

      Play with the Post Process Volume's "Exposure" settings. You can check the Post Process Volume at the Overview level.

    Hey I wanted to ask if Horror Engine can be used for a commercially shipped game? Is there a license for it somewhere or is the free horror engine on unreal marketplace good to use for a commercial game?

      The answer is yes. All assets you purchase from the Unreal Engine Marketplace come with a lifetime license, even for free. You can develop, publish, and monetize games with these assets. Amazing, isn't it? ^^

    Very nice video! And I love the engine! I have one issue. I try to build a horror scene inside a blueprint to load it in during runtime. But e.g. the overlap Trigger can't find the actors to interact with. The blueprint should contain the lamp and the trigger. Do I miss something? Thank you very much

      Hi! Thanks for the reply :-) Imagine a Blueprint of hole scenery like a table with a lamp, which is instanciated during runtime (procedural level) and should explode if you get close to the table . If I place a lamp blueprint inside the blueprint it is a child actor component. if I place the overlap Trigger it does not show the actors to interact array under "create new horror event" under environment the first point beneath actor interactions is Interaction. If I place these two things directly inside the map everything works perfectliy. I hope I explained the issue detailed enough. thx
