Guys thank you for the thorough video. I did this job for my wife's cruze and didn't realize the press fit phaser. She does absolutely have both cam correlation codes active rn and shes been complaining oh my god i cant use my remote start when the check engine lights on please fix it. Now I get to be a cool husband and do it right.

I’m wondering if this video was purposed because of me lol I didn’t have my new intake cam exciter set in the right spot easy fix car has been absolutely ripping since I reset the timing! Highly recommend the zzp stage 1 turbo cam. Also highly recommend taking your time when installing

Hello brother, my A14XER is smoking non stop the mechanic has changed the rings and the head has been serviced replacing all the seals and guides to no avail. Can swop the engines and use the Z14XER instead?

How do you adjust the slack on the actuator while under the locking tool? clock wise, counter clockwise or TDC ?

Question. Doing a head swap and a stage 1 swap. I timed my actuators with the tool but didn't check the crank. If i replace the head and all new components as long as #1 is TDC and locked with the pin can i just time it as shown here?

If I follow these steps upto the locking out of my camshafts, can I remove the large bolts and replace the sprockets to my camshaft actuator? They sell the chain kits with these and water pump, but I've seen none cover this step.

Anything different for a twin intake cam setup? 🤔

Not the 1.8, but the 1.4L turbo like in your video. When you get a chance to reply. Thanks

Hey guys! Be sure to listen to what he's saying when it comes down to the camshaft actuator phasers. Pay very close attention to that part!
When it's time to torque those actuator bolts, be sure to hold the 22mm wrench with the same amount of pressure. Be sure when you're tightening the bolt to spec, don't let the camshaft move the chain, or else the crankshaft tool will move out of place, and the timing will be off. Keep paying attention to the crankshaft tool everytime you're done tightening either camshaft.

4:20 Question: when I insert my cam lock tool, the exhaust valves on cylinder #2 are slightly open. I have to twist the exhaust cam clockwise with some pressure to get the slot flat at the back end of the cam, since the cam lobes are opening the valves when I turn it.
Does this mean something is wrong? Also, I bought the cheapest timing tool set and the cam locking plate barely fits in the grooves. I had to tap it in with a small hammer, seems like it should be thinner. I recommend a quality set if you can afford it.

I am going to make you sad. Why did I have to manually move my cam sprocket to get it to run? You guys do all these videos and I have searched high and low for reference but exactly where does the sprocket go on the cam? There are timing marks, and it does matter!

Do you have a part number for your holding tool? The one that came with my kit does not fit.

While this video is extremely helpful? You didn’t actually show how to take the chain off to replace the timing chain. This is a critical step and I don’t know how to do it with that lock on the actuators.

I’ll add a chain and guide swap video to the list 👍 This video was intended to specifically address the most common issues we see with cam installs.

Do you get a lumpy idle with this

    • @ZZPerformanceChannel
      @ZZPerformanceChannel  7 месяцев назад

From just installing the cam you do not get the typical "cam" sounds because it is a VVT car so the PCM compensates for the difference. However, your tuner can likely get you a little of that noise with the tune.

You prolly got top dead center on the second rotation. There’s 1 that’s intake rotation which is the one needed, then there’s 2 exhaust rotation which I assume is the one you did. You need to redo whole thing and make sure it’s on the intake rotation.
