My MKE200 died on me on a job today. I had to fall back on my 2nd shooter booming an MKH416 instead .I’m going back to my 10 year old RodeMicro; rocker sound and way more durable. It’s been to the arctic circle, hurricanes and deserts and hasn’t skipped a beat.
I love the look of the sennheiser and outside I didn't think there was much of a difference but inside it was very noticeable. I preferred the rode sound.
I prefer the MKE 200. The Sennheiser focuses on clarity where as the rode just adds base. Most people prefer the extra bass boost but you can add that in post if you want. To me especially in talking head videos the clarity of the speaker is more important. This is why the Sennheiser comes out on top for me.
@@marqriley9460 if you look on the bottom right of FCP, go to effects (it looks like a box in a box icon on the bottom right just above your timeline), scroll down to audio, then eq, there you will see a base boost option among others that can achieve a fuller sound if you prefer it.
Rode sounds better to my ears, the sennheiser is a lot more tinny but the form factor of the sennheiser (especially given it has a built in windshield/shock mount) is nice but that's trade offs for you there's no free lunch
Hey, Tamara. I had made up my mind to go for the Sennheiser, until I watched your video. The last of about 4 video's. So not too sure now. Great video still, Sis. Give thanks.
I love both of these mic’s, but for different reasons. MKE200 has better clarity. It just sounds so crisp and clean. It is also my go to when it comes to using my pocket 2 because of the size. It is really small and doesn’t add to much bulk. I works amazing with the Pocket 2 and the Extension Rod. Video Mic Go 2 has a really rich and full sound. I use it mostly with the ZV1 as they pair so well together. Love this video. Keep up the great content. If you get a chance, try the DJI extension rod with the Pocket 2 and the MKE200.
@@matadortx Your voice should still sound natural. I like the Røde for it's more natural low and mid, but would be nice to also get the clarity of the Sennheiser. Sennheiser focuses too much on clarity instead and sounds very unnatural due to the lack of low end. Best would probably to record with both and mix them together. 😅
Funny I'd now pop up on this vid, huh? The Rode sounds better to my ears, but as someone else has said, you can always add bass in post, and I think the smaller size of the MKE200 will suit my needs better. Hmmm....
Which mic do you prefer?
I prefer the richer sound from the Go II but i like the more compactness of the MKE 200.
Rode. More life I find. Maybe a tinge more muffled compared to the Sennheiser, but still awesome for the price. Thanks for the vid!

So which adjustment would you need to make in FCPX for example to bring the MKE 200 up to a fuller, warmer sound like the Rode?

Two great sounding mics and both held up well against the wind. Footage looked very stable as well with that gimbal setup.
Yeah, I was really impressed given how windy it was.
This was crazy helpful and an absolutely perfect way to review and demonstrate both mics at the same time! Thank you so much!!
You’re welcome ☺️
Thanks for a good review! Really helpful. Wish the advert was not in between the two microphones though because it broke the ability to compare.
Ah, it could be an automatic one but I’ll check. Thanks for letting me know.
I’m a new subscriber. I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos and that you are great
Thank you so much! And thanks for subscribing 😊
I like the clarity of the Senn specially indoors.

The MKE 200 is on sale for under $70 right now, but after watching this, I might have to get the Rode.

Thanks! They’re both great mics, I’ve found myself using the MKE 200 more than the GO II. But also, the MKE 400 is even better.
Simple and yet effective comparison. It answered my doubts. Like you said the Rode is richer.👍
I agree on the Rode sound better.
Thanks for the video, very useful. ¡You got a New subscriber!
Is it possible to connect microphone using usb c to a camera? I have a7s3

Oh thanks, I'll check that out and give it a go.
used on a gopro11 the Senn beats the Rode by far
So the rode central app setting doesn't apply when I use like camera app when recording?
In my opinion, the Sennheiser sounds a lot better. The Rode has more bass, but the voice is not supposed to have bass. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome 🙂

Awesome review thank you! What camera settings did you use to film this? Any preferred picture profiles?
I can’t remember which picture profile it was but I most likely shot in 25fps, 1/50th, ISO 100.
Notifications gang checking in!
😅

Yeah, the compactness of the MKE 200 is what made me use it more than the GO II more recently.
Do you think you could use the Sennheiser MKE 200 with insta360 X3. How would you do that?
It wouldn’t be the best option as you’d see it in the frame, it wouldn’t be invisible like the Rode Wireless GO II for example
Just ordered the Rode VMG II
Nice!
The Sennheiser is appealing. 💯
For live band recording - Rode
For speech - Sennheiser
Have you tried the mke400
Not yet.
Rode rocks yyyyaaaaayyy. Another banger video
Thanks! 😊
Wow cool
I like the form factor of the mke200. Bought a mke400 😂 inside the 200 wins hands down. The rode picks up a hum. Terrible
Ah nice, the MKE 400 is a great mic.
dont buy rode cuz i just spend 70 dollars more to windshield and cables.. 3.5mm jack is not giving good quality
Wait what are you filming this on?
Zv1 are you using a wide lens? Why is it so stable
I’m so impressed by the zv1
No wide angle lens attached. It's on a gimbal with an extension pole. I'll be sharing a video soon about the setup.
@@TamaraGabrielUK ooo no worries 😉 thank you for everything
