  • Boston Celtics win banner 18, Jayson Tatum played really well to close the series, did he unlock something to take him to the next level of nba star? And is this one time where it might actually be appropriate to bring up the D word….. Dynasty???

Obviously it’s not a dynasty.. but if there’s a team that COULD do dynastic things, there are worse choices to bet on than one led by a star with 5 ECFs, 2 finals appearances and a ring by the time he’s 26.

I thnk Jayson Tatum is that guy. Or can be. I think he has everything. All of those guys you just listed also had playoff appearances just like Tatum has had. I just think he needs to take command. I hear all of these people saying the same thing you're saying but I don't see it. The reason why I don't see it is because Tatum played that finals series against the Warriors with a fractured wrist and after that people just talked so much about it that it got to him. I think next year, you're going to see the best version of Jayson Tatum.

I’m pro-Tatum overall but I do think he’s a step off from the best of the best. But if he can become a real distributor in addition to already being a top 5-10 guy? To me that’s the kind of thing that jumps him into the very top tier.

@@who.won.sports he's been doing that all year. It's just that nobody paid attention or cared. I watched every game they played and if you ask me to pick one player in the NBA, I know it's an unpopular pick, but I'm taking Tatum. He's not the same guy. Losing to Miami did something to him but nobody is noticing it. And I think in the playoffs, well first of all he played well. I don't care what anyone says. He didn't shoot great but he had a good post season, but I think the reason he didn't shoot as well as he could have is because of the all the stuff people were saying about him. And it's not like he shot worse than any other player. He shot 39% in the finals. I still remember when Kobe shot 40% and was praised. I think there's a certain amount of fatigue people have with Tatum. He's had so much success early and hadn't won it that people were just tired of him. But we'll see what he does next season and if he does what I think he's going to do, remember I was the one that told you.

Noted! But to be fair. I’m not exactly trashing the dude to say I have him as a top 5-10 player in the entire NBA and am posing an argument to elevate him into MVP contention lol. But I appreciate you even watching the video in the first place!

@@who.won.sports oh I know. I wasn't meaning it that way. I understand what you were saying. I didn't mean it to come off like that. I think you're right, but I also think a lot of people didn't notice what he did this year because of how he was covered in the media this post season. I've been surprised. And it's crazy to me that a guy can play selflessly, play team basketball and do all of the things we say we want these guys to do and still get treated like he was. Personally, I have Tatum top 5 but I understand why other people don't. Also, I think a lot of people also don't take into account the fact that he's probably the only player in the league that shares touches with a teammate at the level he does so he's not going to have the numbers other guys have. I think your opinion is valid though. According to everyone else it's more valid than mine.
