Deddy is 🤭! Mmm...this was so comforting to watch. Takes me back to Grandma's house. No, I'm not Jamaican but some of Deddy's cuisine is generational just like here from slavery. The fore-families made do and a lot of us still do.
I haven't tuned in for a while but when I do I feel at home. Deddy always has a smile on his face and so passionate with his cooking. Not to mention his daughter Sasha! She's amazing. She ask and explain the questions we are thinking. The ending presentation at the end is phenomenal and mouth watering 😋 😍. I love ❤️ this channel and family✨️ Definitely trying this dish this way‼️
I really enjoy watching Mr. Deddy and hearing you narrate. The combination is so pleasant. I look forward to your new videos even if I don’t make them I just enjoy watching and listening. It’s good to hear you acknowledge God. Actually that’s one of the reasons I watch. No fusing or fighting. Just soothing cooking. And beautiful results. 👍🏽👏🏽👌🏽God bless your family real good.🥰
Hi Deddy, I am from Suriname and I must say that I enjoy your cooking videos. I am going to try some of your recipes. Keep up the good work. Thx. Love and peace from Somaira
My mother taught me this recipe many years ago...God bless her soul...I 💚 it!! ....I use beef or mutton, pork, stewing hens, turkey necks or wings(fresh or smoked), goose or duck meat....I have yet to try it with rabbit 🐇 meat 🤔
I've been a longgg time subbie and don't think I've ever commented because I love just watching, learning and enjoying Deddy do his thang! I'm finally saying something to let y'all know even though I'm a great cook for many years I'm never too old to get better! Thanks for sharing such delicious, ethnic, authentic, culture recipes! 👨🏽🍳🍴

I've never had pig tails but I love ox tails so I'm sure this recipe is outstanding! The finished meal looked amazing! I will definitely try this recipe. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Very nice looking dish. I’m sure it’s delicious. I want to make it but do not have pig tails and smoked Turkey, so I am going to improvise and use pig feel and smoked beef sausage. I’ll let you know how it turned out! Thanks for the great recipes!😋
I don’t ever remember having this as a child in Jamaica and My mom never cooked it here in the US. I’m going to have to ask her if she’s familiar with it. My girlfriend who’s Guyanese makes a similar dish that they call cook up rice. She mostly use gungo peas, pinto or black eye peas. I’m definitely going to try making some. First time watching you channel.
Daddy I love to watch your cooking and enjoy your family . Just letting you know that in Barbados we called it “Barefoot Rice “ when it doesn’t have any peas in it more like what you call White Rice .Peace and love to you all 🙏🏼
I am a new follower and I am glad I found guys!! I am Jamaican and I love Deddy’s personality!!! Reminds me of my Tio!! Y’all make a good collaborate!! I’m definitely going to make this!!
So this right here!! I made some adjustments we used turkey butt all cause they wanted more fat.. I also should have drained some water off because the rice was over cooked. BUT.. the flavor was everything! My kids don't eat too many type of beans but I made this yesterday and the pot is almost half gone today..will do this again!
That my friend looks amazing. Cant wait to cook this meal fa my fiance has gonna b so amazed. Thank u. I've been looking for Jamaican food channels. My fiance is Jamaican an I'm not we been together for almost a year now. An I haven't had a clue where to start learning how to cook Jamaican food. Thank u
Just want to say I love everything that you’ve been doing up to this point learned so much to spice up what I cook in my pot. Much appreciated one love 🤝🏿
This is how my Mommy had rice and peas when I was a child! It's true one pot meal, I would just eat this sometimes when I make it now as this is the Bomb by it self! The combo of flavors is out of this world!😍😘😋😛😜🤪😝 Jamaican food does a body good!🏆🎀🎁🔥❤💯💥 That is one good looking plate of food! I never knew it was called Barefoot Rice and Peas.
Deddy that's beautiful. I need some now you can cook everything is so beautiful thank you for all your beautiful food you cook.God bless you and your beautiful family in Jesus Christ name Amen 🙏🙏👍
Great job as always. I’ve had this barefoot rice and peas, but we also had what we call spinners dumplings in it. Deddy, once again, you have knock it out of the park, YES!!!👍🏽👍🏽❤️👍🏽👍🏽❤️
The lady that talking about she used to add spinners dumpling in this. This is not stew peas. this is rice and peas. You go Deddy . I would take a plate right now. I totally forgot about pig tail in my rice and peas. You give me an idea for this weekend
This is pretty much the same thing as 🇬🇾Guyanese Cook-up rice or 🇹🇹 Trinidadian Pilau. Guyanese we can make this with any number of peas or meat combo(split peas blackeye peas, or pigeon peas, chicken, beef, salt beef or smoke turkey in North America) it’s still cook-up rice. We also make it with callaloo and no peas. Glad to know that Jamaicans make something similar.
I recently moved in with my guy who's Jamaican. And he only eats Jamaican food so I'm trying to learn to cook for him. I've tried to make rice and conga peas two Sundays now but 🥴😑 I can't seem to get it. After watching this I'll at least try one more time😊
I haven't seen pig feet in years, not since I left Alabama city years ago. My grand father was very fond of what he called "pig knuckles", fresh, salted, or pickled. Here on the west coast of Canada, I do not recall ever seeing them. Even normal salted pork is hard to find here. When I asked a local produce man about turnip greens, he thought I was joking him and then laughed his face off telling me I was asking for animal feed. You can't find green tomatoes here unless you can grow your own. The only thing I really miss about my original home is the food. Only recently have I been able to find proper grits mat the grocery store.
👍🏿 👌🏿 but, correct me if am wrong. I was born here, grow up in Jamaica. My memory of "barefoot" Rive & Pease back home!!! Is "Without Meat"... (Nice one pot meal), it looks lovely, and am sure very tasty too. Kind regards always x
@@carlinewilliams1161 honestly…my go to and favorite rice is basmati rice! Unless it’s risotto and then I use Arborio rice. I rarely use brown rice unless I’m cooking for someone that specifically requests it.

We cook this in St Kitts on a regular. However, we add saltfish as well. It is delicious especially hot, straight off the fire.

You can’t never go wrong with some barefoot rice and peas…
Get daddy instant pot. They are with multiple functions including pressure cooking.
Use the pressurecooker to cook the peas in about 15 minutes then turn it off and let it continue to steam.
I like this gonna try it
Great recipe Deddy
Please please can you make dumpling soup your way 🙏🏽 blessings 🙌 xxx

You have to use parboiled brown rice otherwise brown rice takes forever to cook! Looks delicious!
Uncle Ben's brown rice doesn't take that long try it
@@carlinewilliams1161 honestly…my go to and favorite rice is basmati rice! Unless it’s risotto and then I use Arborio rice. I rarely use brown rice unless I’m cooking for someone that specifically requests it.
