Well done...I feel they were and are one the best example of the beauty that is humanity and also an glimpse of how & what we can do & be if we want to... collectively

The voices at the end are a reference to when an intruder got into Buckingham Palace and made it all the way to the queen's bedroom.

This is one of my favorite songs from Crass, glad you also enjoyed it. I suggest checking out these songs from them: "Banned from the Roxy" "So What" Bloody Revolution" "Systematic Death"

Absolutely love this song, saw them live in 1982 and this was one of the highlights. You'll have to react to 'Bloody Revolutions', its just as good. I'm actually wearing a Crass t-shirt as i'm watching this (pure coincidence)

There was a week or so in the late 80's when I was stuck at home due to having pleurisy. I had a friend who had been pestering me to listen to Crass as she knew I'd love them but I kept putting her off by saying I hadn't the time. (Not true of course, I just didn't fancy it for some reason.) She took this opportunity to leave a pile of Crass vinyl with me and I have to admit it got me through a few shitty days of illness. For some reason though I never followed it up so I've forgotten a lot of it again. Now, as a middle aged man, I genuinely don't have as much time as I did back then so I'm relying on you Nick to reintroduce me to them. You've done a terrible job so far as you've done the only 2 tracks I could remember, this one and Do They Owe You A Living. I look forward to the rest.
On another note, have you listened to much of the punk that came out of Northern Ireland a little later than the rest of the UK? I'm sure you know SLF and the Undertones but there were quite a few more who never made it as big.

It is Steve Ignorant. One of my three favorite Crass songs. Banned from the Roxy would be another and Shaved Women would be another. That one was the from the women's component of the band.

Crass and Nina Hagen were my first introductions to punk. I like "Sheep Farming in the Falklands", "Berketex Bride", and "Reality Asylum". Crass broke up in 1984. They planned this so that they wouldn't become "commercial". They also had Chumbawamba as an opening band. The only band I know they ridiculed were The Clash: "The name is Crass/not Clash/they can stuff their punk morality/it's them that take the cash/". If you could do some early Chumbawamba ("That's How Grateful We Are") and ANina Hagen ("Born in Xixax"). Thanks.

Crass paraphrased a lot of punk, as apposed to being influenced by it. They were old guys mostly who had seen it all before and were just making social commentary

Many Crass songs were about thinking for yourself and not following blindly what others tell you to think and do, it's just more people telling you they have the answers and they know best so do what we tell you. They were as critical of the left as they were the right, both use violence and are authoritarian - with no account for humanity, love, compassion for other people. Crass were pacifists, although not cowards - but they were trying to think beyond endless battles of my idea is better than yours, which always ends up with the same results and nothing changes - the rich and powerful continue to laugh as the masses fight each other while they get richer. Crass would criticise bands like the sex pistols and the clash who sung about anarchy and revolution while signing to major record labels, making huge profits and working for the establishment rather than changing anything- they would highlight the hypocrisy in doing this. They came to our little town in the 80s, were no bands would ever come, didn't take any money and told us to use the proceeds for our youth club were we were trying to set up a rehearsal space for local bands and musicians. They slept on the floor at my friends house - I'll never forget it, I was 14 and nobody had ever done anything like that for us before, people told us we were wasting our time - but they showed us you can make changes no matter how small to make things better if you get up off your backside and try - if it doesn't work out at least you tried and maybe learnt something along the way, it's better than doing nothing.
