  • Wooden Warrior at Quassy in Middlebury, Connecticut is the original junior Gravity Group wood coaster. This roller coaster showcased the Timberliner trains and demonstrated Gravity Group could deliver a family roller coaster jam-packed with airtime. Is it worth visiting Quassy for this ride?

I remember the surprise of learning that the makers of Hades, Voyage, and Ravine Flyer II were building a new coaster at a dinky park in rural Connecticut. Gravity Group did an amazing job demonstrating the potential of their family wood coasters with Wooden Warrior.

I fricken love Wooden Warrior. I’m just a big fan. I don’t have that many credits so that’s probably why I love it so much lol.
It absolutely blows through the layout! I was absolutely surprised because it doesn’t look like much. The laterals and forces, when you enter the tunnel, are more noticeable in the back than the front. Oml and those Timberliners!! SFNE needs to take notes cause those restraints are beautiful!!! I agree with everything you’ve said. I ridden it with only a few people on the train, so I can’t imagine its pacing on a full train on a rainy day
    I haven’t written a coaster since October of 2019 so I appreciated it more than I should’ve 😅

I live in the area and I remember when Quassy announced this coaster I was like, “36 foot drop? 35 mph? Why bother?” Then I rode it. I couldn’t believe how much punch it had! Happy to see that people of all enjoyment levels still have positive things to say about the Wooden Warrior. And I’m happy to see Quassy get a little love. My very first coaster was the Monster Mouse when I was 5 and I was terrified that the car was gonna go off the track around the corners haha

I agree with how you feel about the coaster trains. I've ridden one of those trains while I was riding Hades 360 at the Mt. Olympus amusement park in Wisconsin Dells 3 years ago.

Oscar's Tacky Waxi is still my favorite of the 3 I've ridden, but I did like this more than Kentucky Flyer. I only got one ride on Wooden Warrior, but it was back row, full train, and it was riding great. By nature of my time in New England, I had to make this park a pay-per-ride visit. For some reason, the weekdays were slammed at the small parks, while Six Flags was empty. I wouldn't mind getting more time here and marathoning Wooden Warrior.

I road Kentucky Flier for the credits, but now I'm not really embarrassed to ride these little gravity group coasters. They're fun, the only annoying thing is waiting in line and hearing the GP comment, "why didn't they make it bigger?" or "man they cheeped out on this". I can't wait to introduce my little one to roller coasters and gravity group really added variety.
