These are my FAVORITE videos. You’re such a positive influence. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say you’re pushing us to be better artists. Thank-you!
I am really loving these sketchendeavour videos. You had said these aint gonna be " drawing tutorials " but seeing your awesome sketchs I would love it if you get into the technique and the process a bit. keep up the good work!! cheers!!
Hi Andrew, as a devotee all my life of drawing, painting and developing my skills, I am so pleased to see you creating these videos to help all kinds of artists. I totally agree too, that drawing helps and informs your painting when creating composition, scale, tone, line and the rest. No matter how good your drawing, as long as you can use it sufficiently to get your ideas on paper prep for your paintings, it helps to create much better paintings. I have been an artist all my life, still work on commissions, teach and help people to gain more confidence and I have waxed lyrical about your RUclips sessions to encourage them to see you working. Thank you for sharing your amazing skills. You only have to look at all the comments in your postings to know this is a much welcomed service you give. Val Cansick
Dear Andrew, Thank you so much for taking your time to talk and show us many different techniques and speaking the language of inspiration. You remind me of my love for painting and drawing each time I view one of your splendid videos and feel blessed for an opportunity to improve. Thanks again. Aloha! Teresa Shea
A beautiful drawing, Andrew. One of the things that struck me was how you handled the pool of water in the foreground. Now, it's only a very few strokes that you laid down to describe the rocks below the surface of the water, but you did so in a way that captured a real sense of depth and clarity of the water. There is even that all-important element of light refraction, which goes so far in selling the illusion of light passing through water and striking objects below the surface. Your time devoted to drawing is paying off in spades, mate. Also, I know these videos require a ton of work to put together, so hats off for taking the time to put a nice polish on ALL of your videos and making them such high quality in every way. Well done and thoroughly appreciated.
You've really made some great points here. I was just thinking yesterday about how life has gotten in the way of my artwork over the course of my career, and I fully agree that there comes a point when we just can't beat ourselves up about it when we just can't get to the easel; something I've tended to do. But I also agree that sometimes we have to force ourselves to do at least a little something to get our artistic motor going and keep our skills fresh. I've really been taking a new, determined run at it again lately, so I'm thankful we have artists such as yourself out there leading and encouraging us, and running the race with us! Thank you for all your time and hard work on these videos!
Andrew, yours is the most informative and inspiring art site that I know of. I'm a 'Senior' who began years (I should say decades) ago then life got in the way. Fifty plus years later got back to my easel through my daughters art class gift and once again I'm hooked. Whenever I have a problem or need inspiration I dial up one of your videos, especially Sketchendeavour. Thank you.
I love your enthusiasm, Andrew. I only discovered my talent after 45 years of not picking up a brush. So, after 45 years of being behind the 8 ball, I'm having to go through the practice and discipline I missed. Your videos are keeping me going.
It is a given as an artist to break the rules and have fun creating. It is one of many reasons you are such a great artist. Love the sketch endeavor! It is something I need to do too, and I am inspired to do it. Also I love your wall easel. We built one, a bit different from yours as far as anchoring our paintings. Thanks so much for all you give.
Wow! You are so articulate, and knowledgable. I really appreciate you for sharing your methods. You teach with a demeanor that is humble and confidentas.. You delivered! This video has been so helpful! Thank you so much!
Everything you do I’ve done and feel grateful there are such items to help me improve.... and you are one of those tool or tutorials that continue to help,, hugs Ps yes show whatever .....cuz I know what ever you do decide to share I will learn something!
I really love your videos and how you have a great approach to drawing. Some people get too hung up on details and give up altogether, with fear of failure. Letting things come naturally to you while you try to improve is the best way to stay motivated.
I think the idea of the first drawing is checking a box that I think a lot of artist both experienced and new miss when they create. The history behind the brewery and its name lends to the idea of storytelling in art, be it painting or drawing. A good story embedded into an equally excellent piece of art, in my mind, takes a piece of art to a higher level.
I love watching you sketch and really appreciate the amount of details you give. Many of your tips would not have occurred to me on my own. Beginner here and very in awe of all the beautiful sketches posted under the sketchendevour hashtag. Yes, seeing you sketch digitally would be nice, but really seeing you make art in all its forms is always a treat.
Yes, Andrew, I'd like to see you giving hints about drawing with Photoshop, because that's completely new to me as I just used it for making collages but not for drawing. Furthermore, I want to mention I love your channel, you explain it very well and entertaining.
Thank you for showing us your going back to fundamentals! I've been stressing out whenever I had to go back to basics as it felt like I was going back in terms of progress, but you've shown me that even pros need to renew the fundamentals, although your sketches are way better than anything I could do.
In your SkillShare Ad, it was interesting to hear you say you were studying digital painting. My respect for you just leapt up. Many props for such honesty and professional integrity. You don't NEED this skill, obviously, but it shows a lot of intellectual curiosity and openness on your part to pursue such study.
All I can say is WOW!!! These videos are such an inspiration to me. I am enjoying your opinions and your views on drawing and agree with absolutely everything about rules. Drawing and art is definitely something that is personal, therapeutic and fun. Oh, yes I would love to see a tutorial on digital drawing. Again, thank you so much for these videos, you are an inspiration and a great motivator.
I would love to see more of your process for digital work! I am primarily a digital artist and illustrator. I've been watching your videos for years, and all of the information you share is perfectly applicable to a digital process too, but I would like to see how you handle the medium specifically.
I think lot's of us coming to your channel are here no for digital ,not for oil painting or pencil sketching but for high quality art you produce. Also for your knowledge you sharing with us. Any content you planning ahead to next episode is great to see. But anyway i'm curious how you doing with digital media also. Thank you Andrew!
Hi Andrew, Zoltan here. A huge thank you for the shout out! We are privileged to get a very inspiring video from you again. I'm especially impressed: you pronounced my name perfectly! Not many people outside of my country are able to do that. :) Thank you again. I loved seeing the process behind the rocky landscape. Amazing work!
Such beautiful work, Andrew. I love the variety of pencils and charcoal - the deep dark, and the especially the white really enlivened the pictures. Thank you for your thoughts on missing days too, which I have, yet been busy in other artwork areas - still thanks for inspiring and encouraging words.
I am travelling step by step - patiently and happily - through Andrew's every video, every trick and every recipe. Perhaps, I will spend 17,500 hours of watching his before start my painting. Oh no .... but I do enjoy it ....
I need to draw more, I very rarely do. I'm just a strate out painter, but was a drawer all my childhood before I started painting so will be good to get back to the roots of my artwork.
I love your mind Andrew, you really communicate the same ideas I have very well. It s all about creativity. Not so many rules. Or put rules but use them only for yourself. Keep sketching!
Wow! If I could have hit the like button a hundred times I would have done, I really love this episode Andrew. Your comments about rules is so spot on, your use of Photoshop is not cheating, it's time saving! You are using your own work and moving it around to make a quicker composition than if you drew it out a few more times, what can be wrong with that?? You asked if we would like to see an episode where you share your abilities with digital art, yes please. I am learning PS myself and would be grateful for any help. I've always lived with the philosophy that rules are made as guidelines only, esp for beginners. Once you know the rule you should change your thinking to 'rules are made to be broken' ;-) Carry on exactly as you are.
Yes ,please do a session on Digital... It is nice to see how you incorporated a processes that I would cut out sketches and move them around on a piece of drawing pad paper. Great information and Thank you for sharing.
So true drawing should be a daily habit. That unknowingly I had from my childhood, love to see your work and I enjoy each and every video. Great artist and great teacher! 👏👍👍👍
I really enjoyed this video and still planning for tomorrow for a new composition. Every video I've watch in your channel pushes me to make my own composition. You're a great teacher for me Andrew. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas. 😊
Hi Andrew I specifically wanted to watch this video for your featured mountain drawing which is really beautiful. I love the the first landscape drawing at the beginning too with a nice use of white charcoal and the paper you use.
Love, love your tutorials, because of you I have picked up my sketching book once again and now I know why the charcoal would not go over the graphite...and yes would love to know more about how you draw digitally. This is definitely the way the world is going and I agree not cheating, just saving time in creating what ever art we are creating.
I love your work!!! Your painting are beautiful, but im really a sucker for your pencil drawings. Im definitely going to commit to drawing everyday and improving my work. Thanks for your time and inspiration.
Your ruins & rock sketches are amazing! Love how the white finale really pops the key features. Thank you so much for continuing to share your marvelous talent. Unbelievably helpful!
I find that I ENJOY sketching more when I am not in my head. I figure out my subject and throw it down several different ways in my sketchbook (thumbnails). Get my creative juices flowing. Then detail out my favorite.
Thank you for an insightful video! Appreciate all the time you take and all the helpful tips! Always enjoy your videos and your art, they have impacted me in a big way!!💕
G'day Andrew. Thank you Andrew for sharing your thoughts and opinions with regard to rules and whether to break with them. I really love the emphasis you put on the concept of just finding the ability and time to simply practice the art of drawing without getting bogged down with rules even the ones that we often place on ourselves. I agree wholeheartedly with you that drawing should be fun. Really loving the quality of your sketches too.
Such an inspiring videos you used to share.. All your techniques and skills you shared with us is really commendable... Thanks a lot.. you are one of my favourite
