This makes me think of walking through a disused forgotten tunnel ! Apparently the band gave up the electronics soon after this album, which is a shame because Florian Fricke created some brilliant sounds on this music.
Florian would later sell that Moog to Tangerine Dream, and it was used in their most famous records throughout the 70s such as Phaedra and Rubycon. A legendary instrument!
It's like finding a secret lake in the middle of the cosmos, in fact right about 40 seconds in you take the plunge into the celestial underwater abyss.

I listened to that album in early 80s and liked it. Years later I met Florian Fricke in Munich in a studio where he created an album with an American guy.
A friend used to have this album in the mid 70s and I felt I should like it as the cover was so cool, lol, but I wasn't too keen really (shhh) was into TD though, who I saw at the Albert Hall, and Klaus Shulze, at the Planetarium
dear sir this was together with the then Walter Carlos a more groundbreaking record because of it's free experimental use which was unseen at the time. This record set the metrum largely through a free use of the big moog which Walter Carlos wasn't even doing at the time

It was recorded when Florian Fricke was the caretaker of the first, and only one moog in Germany. As far as I know.
Wow

I even believe it originally came from George Harrison. I’m not quite sure. But I know for sure his moog ended up in Germany. 😊
@@PatrickBaele Really? Historic instrument. The genuine relic.
This is my favorite Popul Vuh album. Thanks for uploading it. Love it very much.

Wish I discovered this in 1970. My mind would be so much better off.
Definite an add to my wind down music playlist!

I reckon it fits well with Zeit (as does Garden of Pharaoh) ...Florian fricke was on Zeit as you probably know. Such sublime albums; unrepeatable.
Please add a spinning vortex for video?
Some similarity with Wendy Carlos compositions
