- Wild camping is supposed to be about returning to nature and soaking up solitude, so when a Renault Megane turns up you know things aren't quite right. It's all part of wild camping in the South Wales Valleys!

Eventful camp! Love the tent, really like the look of the Robert Saunders tents ... I'm always tempted when they appear on ebay.

Horses, moreso than cows, are the bane of my wild camping life in South Wales. Never been genuinely attacked by a cow, but I have by stallions on the hills several times. And even if they don't, every flat spot they've shat all over.
I've never seen so many on a hill before. I've never had one quite so pushy either. Thankfully the main herd kept away from me all night and then the second vehicle scared them off! Xxx
That is a smashing tent. My dad and I used a similar Vango branded one in the 70s and 80s (not a ForceTen) when I was a nipper.........It's the outdoors equivalent of having a Triumph Stag. Ha ha. Yeah, it's quite nice camping in a really vintage tent. This one needs to go though as I'm definitely cutting down on my tent collection.

Mind you not the car on the common 🙄. That would have totally spoilt it for me I’m afraid. I just don’t think I’d be able to relax after that, especially as another car came.

It was frustrating but thankfully quiet after that and I enjoyed the evening views in peace. First dodgy camp I've had in the Valleys so I can t complain really!
Looks like a fun night all round! I've just come into possession of a Saunders Backpacker 2 and looking forward to trying it out. I can't find much information on it anywhere as the Jetpacker, Spacepacker etc seem to be more prevalent.
Yes, I think the backpacker is older. I think it is quite similar to the Fellpine...
You were right, herd of horses is the word.
With sheep, horses etc grazing those cars shouldn't be anywhere near the common. Bunch of stupid people with nothing better to do with themselves, I'd have been scared they'd pester me or if off their heads run over the tent so I'm very glad they left you alone.
Yeah it was a bit worrying for a while but thankfully they just drove by. The horses certainly must have been scared as they'd all disappeared.
Horses and cows,sheep are great but I can't understand how you slept with a car prob robbed ripping around. Scary, well done.

No where to hang a lantern, so the yobs don't run you over. Well done for sitting it out.
I might get a few bicycle reflectors to attach incase I come across the same situation.
