I had the phrase "terror where my trousers go" in my head for 30 year because of this advert series and I could never quite work out which episode of Police Squad I got it from until today and I finally saw these again.
@@scottishwildcat I don't entirely agree. Yes we had far fewer channels back then, in fact I can remember when we only had 3 to choose from (before the days of Channel 4 and 5) but the shows we had back then were a lot better, we had much more game shows and the comedy was funnier with a plethora of sitcoms, stand-up comedians and comedy sketch shoes (until the PC Brigade, Snowflakes and Woke's killed that off) and there was no Reality garbage either. Even the soaps had some comedy element in them quite regularly but are now all utterly depressing with stupid storylines. Yes we may have 1000s of channels to choose from now but most of it is the same old, same old.
At 1:25 have a look at the runners and riders board in the background, it's the list of names from the song Widecombe Fair (aka Old Uncle Tom Cobley And All). Funny funny adverts!
Absolute classic ads...and ironically IMO...the gags in these, are more funnier than most of the series and movies.... ~ "Can I interest you in a night-cap??".... ~ "Sorry, don't wear them"....
You're thinking of one of the "Airplane" movies, where he was the copilot (called Roger, which caused hilarity with the radio exchanges). Also with Leslie Nielsen, of course.
I noticed all these had German subtitles. It's a shame because many of the dialogue gags such as "cover me" and "chicks all over him" only work in English!
The most underrated set of adverts.
1292liam: Agreed, better days, better comedy back then....
Why, who didn't think they were very good at the time?
Hey, you over there! In The Shadows!
I did not know that band, so now the joke makes sense---
Loved that advert being a big fan of The Shadows and Hank Marvin
There is so much going on in each commercial. Literally every shot has absurdities in the foreground, background, and dialogue.
Just like Police Squad that these are based on. I can't remember if these came before or after the Naked Gun films.
@@MegaStig25 Before the films.
The pub scene is the Half Moon in Herne Hill London SE24, it used to be my local.
OMG, I remember these ads. They were comedy gold, thanks so much for putting 'em on YT
Did not see these in the UK...Classic Nielsen

'It's not red and it has no rocks in it.' Only the marketing people were injured in the making of these adverts. They told the truth. :-)
Terrific. How can you make me laugh so much in one second! With the porthole scene....
I never saw the Hank Marvin one. Brilliant.
It was "the chicks are all over him" that finished me off 🤣🤣🤣
Instant add to my favourites... 👍
Thank you for uploading all the adverts altogether...

1:01 "Unmarked Police Car" That made me laugh so hard
Leslie fracturing the English language at the speed of light…
There was nothing like this back then and still is today.
Best adverts ever!
These are better than many of the programs we have to suffer today.
We had to suffer just as many back then, and crammed into fewer channels. Selective memory is a wonderful thing.

Brilliant - thank you. I'm checking with the Taunton Cider Company to see if they still make Red Rock.
did they ever answer you?
@Rob Lynn Ah, thanks!
I'm pretty sure these ads are Police Squad cannon.
The funniest ads ever made.

Thanks for that explanation
Just laughed uncontrollably for 4 minutes!! If you love Police Squad, this is absolutely amazing!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for uploading!
Dang I miss movies like this ❤😂
Great adverts up there with the Holsten Pils commercials.
I love Franks ID card - "FRIED SQUID - Non Toxic, Non transferrable, Not to be used as a Fraud Squad card". Plus it identifies him as Lt F Drebin.

Who wrote these commercials??
Way too funny 😁 😅
Anyone know if Alan North is in one of these ads?
No, he never appeared in any.

Wasn't there one with OJ in it?
Nah these were made after Police Squad, before Naked Gun.

Actually, both of those work fine in most languages. Others like "book her" are a bit trickier.
