Awesome, thanks!! Did you put the corner post under ground also and screwed the boards to them as well? Are those 2*6? What part of Florida are you in? Thanks again!!
This is very helpful. We built something similar for our new, juvenile cherry head red foot. Your enclosure is very inspiring. Fun fact, I also have dachshunds. I know this video is a few years old, how are your babies doing as far as the pyramiding?
They haven't pyramided any further, but it will always be with them. It doesn't just go away. But they're living outside, they're eating right, and that's the best we can do.
Only a couple inches. Redfoots are not known for being diggers like some other species. On the inside the dirt and mulch is a little higher than the outside.
Sofia Howard, yes. now they have a heated dog house inside the enclosure for colder nights. if it gets below 45 though, I bring them inside and put them in their old tortoise table they lived in when they were little. I normally use it for storage. It's 5'x3' but it seems tiny to them now.
Yeah. After talking to different breeders at the Daytona National Reptile Breeders Expo (the largest in the world) I know that redfoots are more susceptible to pyramiding even if you're doing everything right. These guys eat fruit and vegetables, and rarely protein. They live in the sunlight in Florida....all the recommended diet and enclosure information. It's just one of those things. Thanks for being respectful. I'm tired of hearing from kids who don't know anything / dont have the means or desire to build something for their redfoots.
Nice, Always nice to see Torts in a properly sized enclosure 👍
The beautiful birds in the background makes me wish I lived there
cardinal for the most part:)
It's nice watching your tortoise walk around but I was really hoping to hear about your enclosures construction.

Hey Charles, how deep did you go under the soil to build it?

Do u keep them outside at night

How do you protect the enclosure and tortoise in rains?
They have a doghouse with a shingled roof inside now.
Sounds like you got a good grasp on these RF. That prymiding is unfortunate.

Pyramiding is caused by lack of humidity in the first few years.
@@beansncornbred2576 you should talk to some top redfoot breeders on the issue.
