It's gotten confusing for some of us, so this is pretty cool.
I’m a Braves guy and that’s fair. This year’s team played very apathetic, selfish and low IQ baseball offensively. The injuries doesn’t help but the fact that Ozuna was carrying this team for majority of the season when we had Olson, Riley, Murphy and Ozzie who are very capable of carrying teams. This is one of the worst years that I’ve seen. Philly was going through an extended slump and the Braves couldn’t seize the opportunity and went on a 6 game and 7 game losing streak themselves. No heart this year. There was a stretch against the Nats where we lost 5/7 games to them. They also dropped a series against the last place Reds. These guys play one way and lack a sense of urgency too. That said, they can still make it and control their own destiny but they can lose to anyone at anytime.

CRAZY!!! You had the Braves #1 in power rankings few times in April.
I know there are Yankee fans who are happy they are the "best" in the AL, however, for the past couple of seasons these same Yankee fans were crying about the week off that the top two seeds get before they play again. We probably won't hear anything like that because they ASSuME that with Aaroid and Slowto in their line-up they will be just fine. If they happen to get bouned in the LDS, don't blame the league, know that they failed themselves.

The mets also has the tie breaker with SD and AZ so they would be ahead of AZ. Not out of the question for mets to get 1st wild card spot but I don't think so

As a Mets fan I have been witness to too many September collapse to have any confidence with the schedule remaining and the history the Mets have in Atlanta, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mets blow it. I'm hoping your predictions are right but I can see the Mets shitting the bed in Atlanta and washing this whole magical season down the drain.

The Orioles woes should not be underestimated. Skimpy starting pitching may mean one epic meltdown.
For Atlanta, their postseason depends on this miami series and the mets series, i say there is a 50-50 chance to win that mets series and if they dont, that would be unfortunate, but that sometimes happens to teams. its baseball after all🤷♂️

I’m just waiting to find out which big NL team craters before the NLCS and who plays the Astros in the ALCS, and also when the Yankees collapse in the playoffs (which might be to the Astros again, I suppose).
Astros are probably resting players in the final games vs Guardians, which might benefit Guardians in their effort to beat out Yankees.
I don’t want to hear anyone crying about injuries when the Dodgers have the best record in MLB and everyone on their starting rotation spent time on the IL

If that’s the way it end Mets are ahead of the dBacks which is good because I don’t think Az wants to play SD again and we probably don’t want to play MIL 6 in a row either but man if you flip that order you could have AZ and NY playing 6 straight against their WC opponent
However I kind of expect AZ to be the team that loses their spot their schedule is brutal to finish

Cuz 2015 was half a year and they were 500 with great pitching. This team was 11 under and just said ENOUGH. Never seen nothing like it. Regardless it’s been a great season and the future looks very very bright with all the young kids coming and money cohen can and will spend. Can’t wait to see Soto playing at citi field next year

If either the arizona or the mets who are both playing first place teams who still want to win loose 2 of the next 3 the braves could easily be tied for the last WC spot after sweeping the fish

Take out that stupid rule which gives the base stealers an 80% chance over the pitchers and you get this crazy results. If RICKY HENDERSON HAD PLAYED UNDER THIS RULE, RICKY WOULD HAVE SROLEN BETWEEN 130 TO 150 BASES IN A SEASON.

50/50 is cool, but I think we are blowing it out of proportion. Shohei only is a DH. He has played defense in exactly 0 games. He has more than doubled his career-high SBs which is neat but imagine if Ronald Acuna didn't play defense or Barry Bonds. I like Shohei and am glad to say I have gotten to watch probably the greatest player of all time play, but this doesn't seem as cool as other records.
100% this. Only one player currently in the league made 40/40 while playing both sides, and that was Acuña Jr. Shoei more than doubled his career best in SB because he wasn’t pitching and doing the side work on other days. If he pitches next year, he won’t reach anywhere near this SB number again.
I think the Braves are playing pretty good ball right now. Hopefully they sweep the Marlins and hopefully the Phillies split or even take 3 from the Mets. The braves will have Sale and Fried for the Mets series AND it's in Atlanta. I think they can pull it off!

The Braves are NOT taking three from the Mets. Mets have the best record in Baseball since July and the pitching staff has an era under 3.00 over the last month. Lastly, the offense has been scorching teams as of late. Maybe 2 out of three but not sweep but hey, i could be wrong. Baseball is funny that way.

Manaea has been pitching as well as sale since June, Severino can also match Fried and Peterson has been really good also. If the Mets go into Atlanta still up two games the you will have to sweep NY to get the last spot. Good Luck with that

They beat up Washington this week and won 1 game against Philadelphia yesterday. They also lost the final 2 games against the Phillies last week so who knows what happens this weekend!

I'm not knocking what ohtani has done this year. It is certainly special, but the players you mentioned prior ( bonds, Sosa, Mcguire) all played the field as well as hitting those homeruns. He has only batted. He hasn't played a bit in the field

Because half the time when those guys were playing defense they weren’t doing anything because the ball was either going to another player or the batters were striking out, especially guys that play in the outfield where you are just catching fly balls. It’s kinda like how QBs are almost always winning MVPs in football, people only care about the offensive they bring to the team, and not so much the defense.
