I am thrilled to share with you the process of my garden transformation over the past four years. I can't believe how much it has changed! It's still a work in progress and I'm already excited to make it even more beautiful next year 🧡
I designed the garden from scratch myself and have loved every moment of it. I hired local businesses to do the bigger jobs such as the sleeper edging, patio, pergola, lawn removal etc but tried to do as much as I could myself such as the planting, customisation of the bar, adding decorative posts, making my own wooden signs, staining of the pergola, bar and fences etc plus adding my own special finishing touches 🌺🦋🏝

It's absolutely magical and you can see the love you've put into it. I've always loved your plants and the tips on caring for them so to see them so mature and large is wonderful! Also, the pergola, just wow. What a difference it makes. Do you think you will be sitting under it in winter with a heater?! I can somehow imagine it lol. I got a polycarbonate roof put on mine after seeing yours a while ago, glad I did now as there's nothing better than sitting under it in the rain! I also added a wood seat swing which is awesome for channelling my inner child, even though there's too many plants around to swing very far. What's so good about your garden also is you can't really see where it ends, or what's round the corner of the path. Brilliant design and attention to detail, one of my favourite gardens out of probably hundreds! Really well done!
Thanks so much! 🧡🌻🌺 Yes I plan on sitting out there during Autumn/Winter which will be lovely as it’s something I haven’t been able to do before. I usually cover up my patio furniture for the winter but this year I have left it out under the pergola. I do have a patio heater which will come in handy 🙃🍁❄️

I don’t think you could make it anymore beautiful, it’s amazing as it is. You could design tropical gardens for a living, you have a talent for it 🦜🌴🌺🥥🍍

I might hang some more trailing plants from the pergola, the decking will be finished plus a few finishing touches… And all the plants would have grown so that will make it look more lush and tropical 🌴🌺🧡🌻🌼
I love the tropical theme and the way your whole garden gives that vibe.. thats the kind of space we need during such hard times at our homes. Thanks for this pleasing video. One suggestion if it goes with your theme.. you can try adding a mini waterfall kind of thing with rocks.. it adds magic.
@@tanushreesarkar3828 Thanks very much! I thought quite a few times about getting a water feature but unfortunately I don’t really have the room for now, luckily the next door neighbour has a large pond with a waterfall so I can hear the sound of running water when I’m sat out in the garden 😁✨🌺🌴
This was amazing. If you are ever in Las Vegas in the U.S., you have to check out The Golden Tiki. It is an amazing, well thought out tiki bar that looks similar to your backyard turned into a bar! They also have connections with people who work at Disneyland, and the many tiki elements were designed by the creators of the Pirates of the Carribean rides...as well as some retired animatronics from the parks. I think you would really enjoy it! I really love how you would add one thing to your backyard, and then constantly work on it to improve it. What an amazing space.

How do they survive in the sunless UK weather is my question
They are (semi) hardy (sub)tropical plants that die back in winter and will usually grow back next spring from the roots. Some plants will need to be dug up and the rhizomes or bulbs stores over winter like Ensetes. The Musa Basjoo is the only hardy banana that will survive without being dug up. It will die back also and come spring you will get new shoots.

Majority does not. Many have to be stored away at winter or protected with coatings to survive. Some are adapted like Yuccas and the Musa Banana can be cut to the ground and layered with protective coating and will shoot new growth in the next season.

Really great insight into the process. I started my journey into creating a tropical garden in early 2020 after wind blew down my old fence and got me started and then lockdown allowed for a lot of time for me to work on it. Trying to balance a toddler friendly space with some lawn and dedicated tropical style borders. Also on the west coast so get battered by storms. Then also on heavy clay so had to raise all soil levels. Taken a lot of inspiration from your content so it is very much valued! Will likely post my own transformation videos next summer.

Wow what a lovely garden. When you replaced the grass with the stones and concrete sleeps I wasn't convinced at first - but them when all the plants filled out !! Looks so nice

As you know, you have been my inspiration to build my own oasis in the corner of my backyard. Yours looks so incredible. You have what I like to call “that Disney touch” that transformed your backyard into an incredible paradise. My hope is to look like yours in the next few years. Looks great. Thanks to the gulf stream, that's possible in Britain. Mostly 8a to 9b growing zones, other places at the same latitude such as Canada are more like 3 to 7. Also, many places in the USA, which have hotter summers, don't even reach 8b, because they also have very cold winters, so they can't really grow plants like these in their gardens.
