Soooooo gorgeous..... cant get enough of tropical plants 😁👍
I have a garden in Bangkok, and agree to your selection of plants. Very good, and I especially like the Frangipani (Plumeria) tree that comes in many shapes, with beautiful flowers and it is easy to grow. I also like the bird nest fern (Asplenium nidus) since it can easily be grown both on the ground and up in the trees. I prefer it up in the trees, where it can also serve as a substrate for other ferns or even orchids that grow on it. What I want to add to your list is palm trees as they really make a garden lush and tropical. For a small or medium sized garden, I recommend two species. The MacArthur palm and the Golden Cane palm. They are both cheap, readily available and grow fast. They are both clumping, but you can trim the number of trunks. Height is up to 3-5 m, the MacArthur being a bit taller and the Golden Cane being a bit more voluminous. Hope this is useful.
Very helpful, Jorn! Just what I need for the next video I'm working on! I wanted to feature more accessible (read cheap!) and underrated plants for the tropical garden amidst the aroid craze now. Malaysia just went into ultra strict lockdown again - if you have these palms in your garden, and would like to contribute the images to the video to be feature, pls send them to me i@irenechen.com Thanks!
Such a beautiful tropical plant, very inspiring....thanks Irene

Hellooo neighbour, salamat po! 😃😃😃
Great tips. Looking forward and excited to see what I can do with my balcony. Thanks for the tips.
I also agree with the heliconias...I planted 2 tiny heliconia rostrata in my backyard in indonesia... the ground is mostly made of construction debris, but they don't care! They are spreading all over the place and flowering all the time. Hero of my garden

Tqsm for sharing tropical garden and jungle
Very excited to see another video Irene. A very worthy list and it got me thinking of my list here in Australia. I would have to include the very versatile Cordylines and Crotons for big foliage colour. Palm trees for the canopy. Bromeliads that can grow as epiphytes or on the ground in all sizes and colours. It’s difficult to limit your choice in a tropical garden there are so many gorgeous plants to choose from.. Thankyou for posting, you’re such a natural on camera.
Helloooo Andrew! Happy new year and am always so happy to hear from you and specific ideas! I was considering Cordylines too which seems to be so easy for others but I struggle with them...I think due to lack of sunlight and they are frequently suffering from fungal attacks in my place. Maybe that's why I took it out of this "easy" list. Bromeliads also nice but have this risk that the mosquito can breed in them so not a basic plant I want to suggest. Crotons... believe it or not I haven't got one and so didn't cross my mind! I might do a follow up on adding "fancier" plants to these basic starter kit later😃
@@leafing.around happy new year to you as well Irene. Yes absolutely a gardeners list is personal to what has worked in their experience. My garden, in my location has a lot of strong light and undoubtably lower humidity than your location so suits many sun loving plants. Loved your list though and will have to try some of your suggestions that I don’t haven’t come across yet. Always excited when I see you have posted another video delivered with your quirky sense of humor.
I really enjoyed your video, Irene. You are so beautiful and kind. I love how thorough you are with the different plants. Thank you so much for sharing.

I would add Bromeliads to that mix. They come in a huge variety, some beautiful tropical reds, purples, lime greens and yellows, don't take up much space, and are great for both vertical gardening and adding height and elegance to ground plantings.
True...they look like huge flowers!
Greetings from Philippines
