As a fellow analog horror creator, thanks battington, this will surely help a lot of new people start getting into and possibly starting their own analog horrror content. Also ps I love your content man, keep up the amazing work!
The analog horror content shows that VHS tapesm aesthetic can be unique and nostalgic, but the atmosphere can be unsettling at the same time, especially with the grainy noise. It's like the found footage film genre with extra steps.
First of all, I like the vintage Toy Cupcake/Carl model that you've made. Second of all, thanks of the great tutorial. It's definitely very helpful for the people who want to make any VHS related content
little tip for davinci resolve: there's a free fx effect called scanlines, all you need to do is change the frequency, the softness and the blue and green offset. It helps alot trying to get that VHS effect
If you have the means to, the best way to make something look like it's on vhs is to record it onto a real VHS tape. I've found all my stuff at thrift stores, and the effect is so worth it!
Happy to see tutorials for the first time. Loving the horror and shows how effective animation can become no matter of limitations. Awesome video, and I hope you add more tutorials in the future.
As someone who is starting 3D animation in college, this video is both fun and very informative! I am so glad you are making tutorials that others can follow along with in their own creations. I love your content, keep up the good work man! :D PS: Knowing their is another program that can do this kind of stuff that ISN'T Adobe is life-changing.
@@Anime_DarkWerehog I'm pretty sure he is using Blender here, There is another program that can help with texturing things in Blender called Zbrush. Hope this helps!:D
Absolute legend for this video! Always wondered. I'm still proud of the VHS effect I managed to create in after effects which actually follows along very similarly to DaVinci Resolve. Maybe I'll give this a go in future as I already use DaVinci for Uni, thanks again.
I am thinking about making a FNaF inspired VHS series and this right here will help me with the effects. Thank you for this love your work and all your VHS tapes.
one night with friends, we watched almost all ur videos in the middle of an acid trip... bro, it was one of the best experiences of my life, everything felt so fucking deep and awesome (especially "The Miracle Child" wtf, what a good narration dude) please don't stop posting stuff, you're a master
I'm watching art being made and I just believe his doing it to show us how he does it. Which also explains why there hasn't been any fnaf vhs tapes and other stuff since his busy as hell
Hello, your videos are very good!!🎉, But I have a question. When I put the models in the blender I can't move them, like arms, legs, fingers, how do I make them move???
So there should be a bone that sticks straight up from the wrist. Grabbing that and rotating it will let you move the arm. There are some bones behind the heel, that controls the legs. There are bones in front of the knees and behind the elbows, they let you control the knee and elbow. The bones on the fingers should be working fine. Just rotate them.
Honestly thanks for making this video, Battington. It really gave me the push I needed to try out DaVinci Resolve since I was intimidated by it's format and layout. I am not much of an editor but, this tutorial is super helpful! Thanks!
im very intrigued in the fnaf movie in the files. it would be sick if there was a full movie with your animation but im sure thats just a folder with your unreleased fnaf vid assets anyways got off track but i love your videos
Off topic but I have a quick question! When your done with Harmony and Horror the fnaf tapes will you do any tapes of fnaf fangames like treasure island tubbyland or candys or make a new vhs series?
My personal favourite is the Blender+Davinci one. I'm curious, would you consider making a modelling tutorial, if you're up for it. Also, whats your process for re designing characters, for example your fnaf models, do you have designs already thought out or do you just design as you go? Sorry for the long question.
I will be making a tutorial for that in the future. I normally have a ton of IRL animatronic images for reference and then I make a sketch of my design. Sometimes it is as I go.
@@Battington Awesome, using real life Animatronics as reference is a great idea, I may have to look into that for some custom designs. Thanks so much for answering my questions.
next time you make a tutorial can you please make a tutorial on how to make those vintage fnaf models? im not very good at modeling and i am currently working on a endoskeleton head, even with a simple part, im having trouble.... can you please make a tutorial on how to make those great models? also, thanks for this tutorial! im thinking about taking up fnaf VHS on my new channel, Natural Creation.
I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem but it automatically becomes black and white with the blender VHS filter. Is it version compatibility issues?
Thank you Battington for this wonderful VHS Tutorial video, now if i have the time i can one day make my own VHS series either FNAF or something original entirely in the future. Love your animatronic Cupcake model by the way.
Do you make your own models in Blender? If so, would it be possible for you to make a tutorial on how you make your models, textures and materials? Thanks!
The first few seconds, you, honest to goodness, seemed uncomfortable. Offput, even. Chill out, pal. I know I would be a nervous wreck myself in front of a camera, but like... yeah, you know what it just takes practice. You've got a lot of charm in you, though, which I like. Compositing node... got it. I don't know what that is but I'm guessing since a node is usually talked about with Switches that Node means something to do with a switch and compositing has something to do with composing something, right? Okay then, so just press on the free link and then I have my VHS effects for blender so that I can compete with you in the future! Got it, thanks! Well... now that I'm looking more at the entire process, it's a process but I bet it'll be fun to do for later.
Click the 'Use OpenCL' checkbox in the compositor to triple the rendering speed (assuming you have a reasonably-powerful discrete GPU, which anyone using Blender ought to).
Does it look extra crunchy if you pass it through the AviSynth process after the Blender/Davinci combo, or does it get too muddy? I love grain and noise filters, but it's definitely a tight-rope walk.
this tutorial is AWESOME while i wait to find and save for legit equipment. thank ya! i do have a short video made using this tutorial, tho it aint exact since i cant shill any money for the overlays, and film grain is also locked behind Davinci Studio.
AviSynth looks good with that washed out look, very convincing. What you could do is make a real VHS with your video then record it with HDMI and then use magnets to physically damage the tape reel

It’s actually a folder for the actual movie that I wanted to make. I wanted to gather a group of people to work on the movie.
Question: Whenever I plug VHS23 into my compositor, it turns my whole scene black and white. Im using blender 4.2, do you know how to fix this?
4:23 Battington do you know what is that cartoon
I like how everyone is making loke complex animations in blender while im just trying to figure out how to move the camera
Otherwise:
1. Make the scariest models you can (can be realistic)
2. Think up of a cool plot
3. Animate it
4.add the vhs filter
