Thank you. This is very detailed. You have really helped me in my choice of upgrade from internal to external filter.
Glad I could help!
Hello! I hope you enjoy my Fluval FX2 Review 😀 Let me know in the comments what you think of it and remember the LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!
Love fluval products and nice to see them rolling out with a new canister filter.
Great video, as always. I love my 407 for the 55 G I have. For me, it's a space issue under the cabinet. Even with the FX2's smaller dimensions, I unfortunately can't fit it in the cabinet. The 407 is perfect for my size of aquarium and cabinet. Nevertheless, this will definitely fit a particular niche in the market as the jump from the 407 to the FX4 was quite large. There is a market for an in-between specced filter.
Thank you for showing the internal view of the canister and how the water goes in and gets sucked out. It looks like it allows for sediment like fine sand to settle out before getting sucked up into the pump’s impeller which is a big deal for my tank.
Thanks for sharing, hope to see another episode about how to properly clean wash the filter and how to take care the bio media rings also how long to change it along with the sponge .
Great suggestion!
Nice video. I don't really see the point in this design of filter in small sizes. The 407 is easier to maintain then faffing around with the FX with all the clips and those sponges. And if the 407 is on the right size tank (which is subjective) who needs the extra flow rate and bucket design. I'm sure some will disagree.
But to each their own of course.
great video.
Thanks
i have the fx2 and its tip top, my water is so clear, I use a fx 2 w a 407 on my heavily stocked 75gal ciclid tank
Interesting, I’ve never been sure using a canister filter with marine… It would be interesting seeing a video on benefits or down points comparing types of filtration for marine? 😊
Getting a fahaka puffer debating if getting this new FX2 for my 125 Gallon doing the FX4
I’ve been searching for an option for my fancy goldfish tank. On paper the FX2 has too much output flow for these fish, but I’m thinking it could diffuse enough flow by using spray bars across the entire back of the tank.
Goldies are so messy, so I’m looking to avoid cleaning HOB filters every 7-10 days. The volume of the FX2 would allow more flexibility with my maintenance.
Thanks for putting in the time to share your thoughts on this new filter!
Glad I could help
A 407 would be a better application, depending on your tank size and stock/size of Goldies.
Hope fluval don't make the 407 obsolete, it's a damn good filter. The 407 keeps my 55gallon ticking along brilliantly. In my opinion if fluval's idea is to replace the 407, it would be a greedy mistake. But a good review on the fx2 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hey thanks, I'm pretty sure they wont it is just my opinion 👍
Thanks for sharing ,do u know fx4 minimum dimension not include the pump?
Great review
I’d like one but noise is a issue I currently have 2 filters that I can hardly hear .
Is the Fx2 loud?
Fx6 I’ve heard running in a shop and it’s loud
I think it's reasonably quiet but then again used to filter noise and running water
@@EverydayAquarist
It’s the hum that I don’t want
How does the sound of the FX2 compare to the sound of the 307/407?
I had to replace 2 FX4 impellers in 1 week just last week. The ceramic shaft broke twice. It was mostly due to the media turning into a solid rock restricting flow, is my guess.
How strange, mine just keep on rocking
which cannister filter would you recommend for a 200l tank as i currently have a 207 with a spray bar but i just don't think it cuts it regarding flow and dead spots ?
Do you think that Fx2 will be good choice for 100x40x50 [cm] (200L) aquarium? Price in my country is kinda good for this size and efficiency and some overfiltration will be good. I can always reduce water flow a little if it will be too strong.
I think the price of the FX4's will go up once all the old stock has been used up. The FX2 has just been released so is having to be shipped here etc and I think with the rising cost of everything at the minute, the next batch of FX'4's that have to be shipped will have increased cost also, I could be wrong but that's what I'm thinking
I guess we will have to wait and see
I don't feel that the FX2 makes the 407 redundant at all... It has quite the filtering capabilities, but the flow rate is much higher, much higher.
I feel that this is a step between the 407 and the FX4 for those who have the custom built tanks that may reach the 750ltr mark, and the type of fish you intend on keeping also... We all have our preferences to be honest...
There is still a place in the market for the 407, and it is more common than you would think...
What fish is the yellow purple?
That is a bit odd. If it's to replace the 407 why not include the features it's missing like the drainage option at the bottom? Definitely nice to be able to have an FX in the under-tank cabinet but not sure that would be enough to swap out and existing 407.
Maybe it will become clear in time hey.
I'm totally for it, tbh I always considered to buy an fx4 rather than a 407 so maybe this is the answer. No idea for the drainage hole not being there
Do you think Fluval might upgrade their other filters with the upgrades on this filter?
That's something I couldn't speculate on 👍
How easy do you think the pipework change would be to use the Shaker drilled with a FX series?
Plug and play
@@EverydayAquarist oh wow. I thought the hoses/ connections were way off. This is great. Shaker and a fx4/6 it is. Up through the bottom
Wow this seems so cool and a welcome addition. Love my fx6. When do you think this fx2 will hit the USA market? Seem to be just overseas for now.
I'm not sure, sorry!
The FX2 will be available in the US in early December! 🙂
I just picked one up at a local fish store. I live in New Jersey and store was in PA (the hidden reef). I plan on not using the corrugated tubing, I really dislike the tubing Fluval uses, and I am not the only one.
Looks nice but it's quite expensive in Germany
Oh what's the price in Euros?
@@EverydayAquarist 199€
Cheaper than UK haha
@@EverydayAquarist well that's still expensive and I was talking about the cheapest one I could find 😂
Can it be slowed down during feeding, night time use, and CO2 dosing without turning it off? How loud is it? What’s the cost in the USA?
With the red valves yes, but turning it off would be better imo
Why can I not find this for sale anywhere? Is it not available?
Whats the price?.
~£225
@@EverydayAquarist thank you!
Are these only available overseas?
I think in USA it was released around 2nd De9
I disagree about removing the 407 line.
I think the 407 is still a good option if you have a 75 - 90 gallon
Fx2 would seem too powerful for those tanks.
Very sad.... The FX2 is not available in the US. I checked Amazon and all large aquarium stores including Fluval's USA website, there are no mention or info on the FX2.
I'm under the impression it will be at some point
It's starting to show up in the US. Some online retailers have it
Modern? Looks like a bucket with extra steps 😂

If you really want a good filter ditch the red trays pack out with media and then the fx 2 might be good for a 50 gallon medium stock the 4 60 gallon and 6 100 gallon the fx range will fit all roma cabinets from 125 to 240 with a squeeze and according to fluval they make a part to convert the hosing to fit the "through" tank attachments
Those gph numbers are with zero head height
Still comes with the shit hose pipe
What is wrong with the hose
@vTHEDOCTORv I prefer high flow pipe to using an underpowered UVC for the filter. Hopefully FX compatible UVC soon!
@Everyday Aquarist very hard to work with, not very flexible when trying to bend round corners in my tank
I just picked one up here in the states and working a plan on using PVC. I have to use 1"ID and came up with a plan on using inline CO2 injection and a UV sterilizer (not the 3-watt Fluval one). It fits fine under the Shaker 66-gallon stand but not much room for anything else aka CO2 canister / UV. The 407 I felt was too tall for the shaker stand.
Do not listen to this giy about not cleaning you mechanical media to much. 1. You do not want nor need bacteria on it because that just cloggs it up. 2. That will shorten the amount of time between cleanings 3. The way the trays are designed the water has to flow through the mechanical media before getting to the center and sent back to the tank.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ONLY THINK OF YOUR SET UPS ONLY? I HAVE ALMOST ALL FILTER'S HAVE THERE PURUS AND FLUVAL IS FIRST COMPANY THAT COVERS EVERY THING< SO JUST WORRY ABOUT YOUR NEED NOT SEE HOW MARKETS GOING TO SHOW US THE BEST SELLER BECAUSE EVEN IF SIX-FX IT WONT SHOW WHY THIS FLUVAL S SERIOUS 407 IS MADE AND SOLD TO WHOM FOR WHAT, BE INTERESTED WITH THAT SEE WHAT YOU'LL FIND OUT AND PLEASE DO SHARE FOLLOW UP WITH THAT INVESTIGATION
