👍 The car featured here is a 1994 onwards facelift W124 E500. The earlier cars (build between 1990-1993 ) were know as 500E and had a bit more BHP at 326 ish. I was lucky enough to own a one German owner from new, 1993 pre facelift 500E and they are fantastic bits of kit. Proper Q cars of the early 90's with exceptional build quality, even by today's standards. 👌 Best of luck with your 500E search 🤞

An MGC is pretty much identical to an MGB aside from the 3-litre straight six, 15 inch wheels instead of 14 inch, and the bonnet bulge to accommodate the radiator. Love the classic Mini Cooper JC later in the video as well - my all time dream car.

You would probably have liked my old mgbgt V8. Damask red 1974 year. It had the 3.5 rover engine...only about 140 HP but felt quick enough at the time...and sounded lovely. It was pretty reliable as well and we toured around Scotland in it during holidays.
      What else...overdrive on 2,3 and 4th gear.
Lovely car . We got a fair amount of attention from others ...in a good way! Had about 150 k miles on it when I sold it.
Shame everything is getting so expensive these days.
Owners clubs can be good for insurance for young folk btw.
I also had a black V8 mgb roadster...but it wasn't a genuine car. I think I preferred the little red gt.
Mg midgets are great place to start...or at least they used to be...no idea about prices now.
Good luck with your collecting! Cheers

Fantastic to see you growing the channel like this, the production values just keep getting better, You with Smith & Sniff would be a winning combination for sure, I'd love to see you collaborate with Jonny, perhaps on a barn find for extra 'real world' future advice about what could happen to them when they get moved on in the market - you'd certainly have a lot in common with Richard Porter, given the locale and your snide wit and attitude (not to mention knowledge) it would be a winning combination....I think I've just realised who the next three presenters of that show should be!...I know you don't have that sort of agent but someone should get the three of you in a room together for sure.

This was a very interesting video and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many cars from my youth (I am 70+ years old now). You pointed to an E-type jaguar 4.2 litre at 18.00 minutes with the "vinyl top". For your information this is a Webasto sun roof, a very good quality slide and fold -back roof, a perspex fly screen is also part of the mechanical roof which can be pushed up from inside. My wife had one of these in the late 1970's on her 1965 Mini Hooper, also had Dunlop wheels, walnut dash panel and 2" thick blue pile carpets. Yes it had been fitted out by Hooper Coachworks, as a special. This video brought back wonderful memories of fantastic cars. I had a particular fondness for the Mark 2 Lotus Cortina at 17.20mins. I think the original car would have had quarter bumpers, certainly the Mark One did. Thank you for showing this, and best wishes for future vids.

I went to the H and H auction in Buxton last year, but the prices were crazy. Like all auctions including Mathewsons the cars nine times out of ten go for loads more than the estimate and then there is the commission on top.
I was going to go to the auction today but now i do not need to after seeing all the cars in the vid. The only cars i would be interested in are the Mini, TR6 and Capri. I had an MGB, TR6 and Rover Mini years ago when they were new. Yes i am old and do not need reminding of it lol.
The old cars had charm and bring back great memories of when i owned them, but modern cars are so advanced and mostly reliable. Better safety and extras like cruise control, air con, heated seats and much better MPG.

Matt I'm 61 and I've never driven a Mini either! When I was young and Skint back in the early 80's the Citroen Dyane was my transport of choice! However looking back there was always something big and stupid in between each Dyane, V6 Granada(x2) RoverP5 and a V8 P6, early series 1 XJ all bought for buttons back then. I've never driven a Beetle either. Canada has a bit of history regarding RHD, they drove on the right until the late 20's and had a healthy export market into the 60's for US cars built with RHD in Canada.

Brilliantly done Matt. Thanks so much for bringing us along, such a treat. I had the frog eyed Sprite, 2 roadsters and the GT. Grew up had a couple of porches, got old into BMW, now ancient, your worst nightmare....a campervan, hahaha. 70yo.
MGs were troublesome, I used to write down part numbers, and retuning a regular thing.
This event really suits you, I hope you get to pick something up. My ribs would ache if you took a barn find in you your valet chap, what a hoot.

You smashed this Matt, very knowledgeable and a great presenter. More please! Oh and you do need to test a classic Mini - but an early one - a Mk1 1275 Cooper S or similar. Keep up the great work.

Hi Matt. I don’t normally bother to comment but I think this video was one of your best. Also, it made my very nostalgic and looking at the expected prices I now I wish I had been able to hang onto my E-type, S-type, frog eyed Austin Healy, TR2, TR3, TR4, TR6, MG, Series 1, 2 and 3 Land Rovers, Lotus Cortina and Lotuses. Even my Sierra XR4x4 and Mini! I would be rich. Now I couldn’t fit in any of them! I drove my boss’s Corvette back in the 80s when in the US and it was terrible although the Daimler Dart was the first car in which I did over 100 MPH on the Kingston bypass. I really hope you will do some more videos like this one. Thanks a lot.

Great video Matt, enjoyed it. My first car was a Lotus Cortina, but a 66 MK1. My Dad gave it to me when I passed my test in 1980, it 35000 miles on the clock and looked immaculate. Had to wait five minutes for the radio to come on, the old valve radio had to warm up. Wish I still had it.

Terrific entertainment Matt. Your production values get better with every video. Now we've got some great drone shots to capture the setting and atmosphere. I'm amazed that you turned that round in such a short time, before auction day. Don't know how you kept your enthusiasm in check...you could have been the proverbial kid in the toy shop. So many if these cars were from my youth. As a teenager I remember the London Met Police buying two Daimler Darts in 1961 as traffic cars. They finished up with 26. (a bit more useless info for you 😉) Thanks again for this...great stuff. Cheers Roj

One of your best yet, really upped your game here with great photography. Growing up in the 60's in Cardiff, there was a Vette just like the red one with a black convertible top. Also had a yellow AquaCar just around the corner. My Dad's boss had a V12 E Type Coupe, I had a ride out in it once, it was so fast for its time. RE: The MK2 and S Type Jags, the Boot is more curved on the MK 2 with the S Types being a little longer and flatter.

Loved that video Matt. Bought back some memories. My mum had a 1973 TR6 when I was a child, and the 2.8 Capri was my dream car when I started driving. Would love to see more of these.

Oh websto roof on the e type I think like it, it could be the best video ever, it was like a walk through the car magazines of the 70s and 80s that I bought as a kid and not so kid, even the Kougar thing was in them, did I spot a fiat 124 sport in red lurking there too. Nice production as lots of viewers have said, really cool.
