    I find this channel very useful for photographers like me. I always learn something from every video of Mr. Radhakrishnan. His ways of explaining things are quite simple and easy to understand. Thanks a lot for this lovely video about the latest light modifier from Magmod. The Holi celebration pictures taken by using Magbox were amazing. Planning to buy this product soon.

    Thank you so much for your review and test pictures. I was debating whether or not I need to buy the focus diffuser, when there really isn’t that much of a difference between the two. Save me a few bucks and I appreciate that thank you

    I find this new Magmod iteration slightly ridiculous and, in a way, it went full circle. People started the whole strobist movement, use of compact flashes and MagMod EXACTLY in order to save money, shoot quickly and travel light in contrast to robust and expensive studio strobes. Yet in the end, this is where it all lead us: instead of simply using a portable studio strobe with a dedicated octabox, putting that on a lightstand and shooting away, you gotta buy 2 Godox AD200s, the adapter to connect them up, a ridiculously overpriced Magmod octa (how heavy is that bloody thing?) and the clumsy S-mount system to make it work... By then you are at what, $1 200?! Why not just use a battery-powered strobe with a regular softbox then? Its neither cheaper, nor lightweight, nor portable anymore...

    I admire your honesty that you left it on the viewer to decide whether he or she wants to endorse this or not. I saw an advertisement from future forward and it stated the price of the pro kit to be around 37,000. Honestly speaking i find the price quite discouraging for a 2 ft octagonal softbox. 1 godox ad200 =₹19,500, 1 s bracket = ₹1,200, 1 godox sb ue 80 = ₹3,500 plus a gel kit = ₹500
    Total cost is approximately ₹25,000. And you can buy a carry bag for all these.
    The godox umbrella type bowens mount softboxes are a dream to setup. It opens up and closes like a simple umbrella, you can leave both the diffusers and the grid on. Magmod needs to work on the pricing. Personally, i wont invest into something of this sort.

    • @fragiledj
      @fragiledj 5 лет назад

      Exactly my thoughts plus if i have bigger light such as ad400pro i have to spend another 3000rs for the speedring

    • @saffronfalcon
      @saffronfalcon 5 лет назад

      @@fragiledj yupp. The godox ad s7 is a damn good octagonal softbox for ad200. It works great for outdoor portraits. I have shot some full body portraits with it and it performs really well. Magbox has a fresnel type diffuser and this is the unique thing thats amazing. It acts like a grid but doesnt cut light output like a grid. It directs the light from magbox straight ahead and this is the only thing that will make the magbox an option for the wedding photograpers who shoot with uwa lenses.

    • @TerenceKearns
      @TerenceKearns 5 лет назад +1

      It's definitely overpriced. I appreciate that it is very high quality. But it's a small softbox and for the same money, I could get several softboxes in different sizes with the S-Type clamp.

      That being said, many of ameture photographers like me have no idea on technicality and usage of lighting equipment. Like what are the different features in a flash, what are it's settings and their effects on a photograph and so on....
      So, it would be really greatful if you could do a small introductory session on flashes and their technicalities.

      @@StrongerThanOceans21 Yes, exactly. See the 2:16 and 3:45 time references. About 4-5" above the magRing along the gray seam of the MagBox. All other reviewers, including yourself, talk about how sturdy it is...which I believe. So I was curious how it happened, if indeed it was torn, so your followers can potentially avoid the same situation. Surprised nobody else commented on it yet. Keep up the great videos!

      Actually 5:23 is the best view. Interesting...appears to be a line of stitching where the yellow meets the black. Maybe a patch job by MM?

    • @familyschaeffer8348
      @familyschaeffer8348 5 лет назад

      I found an answer from MagMod: the yellow patch is actually a tab that you can hold on to as you put your MagBox on and remove it from the MagRing. I'm disappointed Pixel Village didn't take the time to review their video and respond accordingly.

    Do you still have to add magmod kit attached on the flash for it to be stable?

    • @PIXELVIILAGE
      @PIXELVIILAGE  3 года назад

      MagBox kit comes with the SoftBox, Speed Ring which can accomodate 2 flashes, and a Handgrip cum light-Stand Mount. Flash goes into the speed ring. And they don't bear the weight. I hope I answered your question.

    The Magbox with the AD200PRO Fresnel head definitely has a noticeable hotspot. It's weird that there are no sample images of this on the internet. I've seen multiple reviews of the Magbox and they always talk about it like the shape of the softbox somehow removes the hotspot - total bs... If anyone is curious I can send them my test images that shows the nasty square shaped hotspot in the middle of the softbox

    The quality of light is still harsh with focus diffuser.

      That's exactly what will happen if you 'Focus' the light.
