Great video I was curious about these new rifles when I first seen them listed & there were no reviews in English so I actually had to ask a friend overseas to translate a Russian review but it turns out he has actually used the ALR 308 and the ASR which is the multi calibre version where you can switch barrels. He said for the price they are very accurate & pretty hard to beat compared to other manufacturers.
Thanks! We had been really interested when we knew these were coming, and they seem to be quite a good rifle and extremely good value. We took the walnut one pictured shooting a few weeks ago and it handles very nicely, and with the fat bolt design and 3-lever trigger it feels like a much more expensive rifle than it is. We unfortunately can't get the ASR rifles in Australia just yet, but they look like a very neat package for the international market. We'll hopefully be taking my .243 back to the farm over the next couple of weeks to do a more thorough review on it, so stay tuned if you want to see more!
2023 update. For a budget rifle, these are tearing up Canada right now. They average 700 bucks here. They are dirt cheap, outstanding workmanship for the money compared to Savage, Mossberg, etc. I have 2 walnut versions of them in Creedmoor and 243. Those metal pillars ensure the morons don't break the plastic trigger guard. The lug is part of the action. Excellent job. Both are great rifles. These are damn good buys compared to the plastic junk around these days for twice the price. When tuned its a single stage trigger. Mine are set to 3lbs. Sub-Moa as you wear them in. Takes about 20 rounds for them to settle down. Copper clean is a must after. BTW go look at the Sauer 200s. Very very similar in design
Are Zaine & Trent are a married couple? hahaha This was one of the most enjoyable Beaton videos, good points made but super entertaining & hilarious hahaha Friday night live or one youtube I'll be tuning in. Great efforts. Dumb question, interchangable barrels for differing calibres not allowed in Australia or just not marketed here? Assume it'd be a seperate licence per calibre if it is allowed(?)
No such thing as a dumb question :) We can get rifles with interchangeable barrels here, and have even made a couple ourselves, but in WA each different barrel would require its own serial number. As this is a bit of a nuisance buying rifles like this isn't particularly common and thus not often advertised. Still possible if you're chasing one though! For the record though, I was thinking of another tactical ATA rifle - the ASR, which is advertised on their own website but not available in Australia at this time. The rifle we have on the shelf at the moment is the ALR.
Don't lithgows use the same mags as a tikka? I also know for a fact that sauer definitely uses the same mag as a mauser. I think old mate has a fair piont about the ata mag
Sort of - the magazines are sometimes interchangeable but often require a bit of fitting. It doesn't surprise me that the Sauers use the same magazines as a Mauser; I think they're made in the same factory.
@@zainebeaton307 yeah, I'm pretty sure they're owned by the same mob. Quick question for ya, the trigger guard on the ATA is it made from metal or plastic?
😂😂😂😂 the magazine debate had me in bloody fits
I was at the local gun shop today an saw a tc venture mag on the shelf. Im not so sure it wont works on these
Thanks for interesting video

$700? You over paid. I picked up a Walnut 6.5cm for $549 before tax 10 days ago.
@@wedge308 I paid 549 + tax. Feel stupid now. read much? I quoted a rough estimate everywhere.
@@mogulrider Why would I feel stupid? It's your momma that says you're special.
@@mogulriderwhere is the tax rate 22% in Canada? Only 5% in AB 😂. Something isint mathing.
Very very interesting.. perhaps a better camera might be in order?

@@TheDanCarr Plastic, but seems to be decent quality. It's hard to get anything in this price range that is metal.
@@zainebeaton307 yeah, that's true. It still seems like a good quality gun for the price. Cheers for that
