I love this piece and the way György Cziffra plays it. My parents knew György Cziffra from (communist) Hungary where he had to play music in bars and cafés. Later we met in Switzerland and elsewhere. From his concert in Tokyo I have an autograph card with his and his son's signature. Latter became especially a great conductor.

Wow...that is his son in the background in the grey suit. This is a very great gem to actually see his father play like this.

No he’s not trolling lol. Cziffra Jr. is the one sitting in front looking intently at his father perform.
This was indeed a good time for Mr. Cziffra.

His son's death shattered him, it never fails to make me sad. Though the exuberant colors of this piece can distract me.

Agreed. There are very few pieces that he plays for which I prefer someone else's interpretation. He is greatly under-appreciated IMHO

Wonderful performance - I like the way Cziffra keeps something in reserve for when the fountains are in full flood. I wonder if this is his usual Yamaha only the tone quality is more mellow.

There’s another video of Cziffra playing this on RUclips where he is performing this through floods of tears. I am guessing this piece must have had a personal significance to him and his son (who can be seen in the black shirt and grey suit, sitting directly to Cziffra’s left, and who coughs in the first 5 seconds… probably the only person there who could have got away with that!) György Cziffra Jr. was to die in an apartment fire probably not soon after this was recorded.
