Good review, Corel is definitely better for occasional users, beginners or for those who only need simple video rendering.
It's not for professionals but Corel doesn't make any real claims about professional editing.
The intuitive user interface is the main reason I use Corel, I'm an occasional shooter and occasional editor so Corel fits my needs well.
Crashing is a thing but it doesn't crash that often anymore and, I save the project very often, it's not a huge deal or a deal breaker for me.

Good job, right on the money. I am still using VS 2021 Ultimate for my RUclips model train videos. Does everything I need. Don't see any reason to upgrade at this point. And I think my videos are better quality than most of the other model train videos on YT. Thanks to you for the LUT tutorial, and all the rest. Take care - Bill.
Very honest and truthful review
I too have been using VideoStudio for 11 or 12 years and I think you've just given a very fair appraisal of it. I find that when it works it does absolutely everything I want it to do. But it doesn't always work.
There are bugs galore and even the most simple of tasks (such as dragging the cursor back along the timeline) can cause it to crash - even without any filters or other stuff applied. I find myself hitting ctrl+S after almost every edit or change I make....
The cost is very good though and, as you say, it's UI is easy to understand and get around. Oh, and the available tutorials are just great! ;)
Most issues I have is with MOV files, these days I dont bother using them.
Yeah, totally use the Ctrl+S in the manner you describe.
Well this must be one of your best reviews. Honest and no punches pulled and it is everything that I have experienced with the program. I have used it it was called X3 or something like that. Again VERY well done and a BIG thumbs up and please keep up the other tutorials as they informative and and entertaining. Cheers.

@@gripps2211 Support eventually get in touch, but are useless. I wish that I found Davinci Resolve to be more intuitive.
Like many longtime users of Corel Videostudio that use it daily and depend on it for a RUclips channel, I also am gobsmacked at how they can not seem to improve the stability and fix the audio artifacts on transitions and other effects.
I think 2022 was the worst with stability.
You’re absolutely correct, Gripps. Corel customer support is horrendous and they have no value, in my opinion. The Forum, on the other hand, has pulled me out of many confusing situations in the past. I also follow your channel, Gripps, and have learned from it as well.

I've had a lot of crashes from resizing transitions on the timeline.
Selecting multiple clips could be vastly improved.
Being able to type in font names and sizes would help (not to mention sub/superscript support).
The worst thing is the audio clicks, especially when it sounds fine on the timeline. I'd love a tutorial on managing audio is VS (I wonder if there are any codecs that would help). IIRC, there's a problem with WAV files and MP4.
I've figured out how to get the chrome metallic text I was after using Metallic and Gradient Pro effects (I gave up on the 3D text option (too slow)). I also found a bug with the motion text effects (not on Customise Motion, but the actual dialogue provided effects) which caused text to disappear offscreen rather than remain at a certain point.
VS 2023 has been much better at handling mov files, but dislikes those I convert/clip in VLC.

I've not edited many videos but I've never had it crash on me. I built my computer to be a middle of the road gaming computer with 2 monitors and 16Gb RAM running 64bit Windows 11. I've had as many as 30 windows open while being online including 15 to 20 clips on the board in VideoStudio. I built the computer with recommended components for gaming although I don't play games so I figured if it can hold up to games then video/photo editing should be a walk in the park.
Great review Gripps! Did you use any of the other programs? If yes, was the learning curve worth your time? I’ve only used VS since way back. I found bugs. My hesitation for switching programs is the unknown learning curve.

Yep the stability is a big problem for me too. I usually use Adobe Premiere Elements now, even though I used Corel for years first. Too bad because outside of that it is great software
Can you please tell me what are the resolution limits for exporting video? Both horizontal and vertical orientation videos.
Power director 21 also has a few bugs when you start adding filters or titles or different things.
Not quite as bad as Corel.
Nowhere nearly as bad as Corel.
I hate to say that but I truly really used to like Corel a lot.

Thanks for the video I agree with everything you have told us. Indeed the crashes are very frustrating. I have a modest computer and I've used 2021 ultimate and 2022 umtimate, both struggle when doing complex transitions on multiple tracks, the basic rule of thumb is to keep it simple. I do like the built in sample sounds, I wish they would offer more selection from their online shop.
While I'm here, please could you offer any advice on how to stop judder after rendering? I've used some drone footage which looks amazing if I play it from raw say in windows media player, put if I edit and use the footage in Video Studio, after rendering I tend to get judder particularly when panning scene occur. I record at 25fps at 1080 res.

is the original format MOV, if so I recommend changing to mp4
The original is mp4. I wonder if the output render has to be saved at the same fps as the original 🤔 It's probably trying to compansate if it's different.
corel video studio support is from the Philippines.
I'm an occasional user and I don't do too much fancy stuff so it rarely crashes. I wish there was a place to get help on using more of the features, Gripps is great but usually I get stuck not knowing how to do something and don't know where to find out.

@@gripps2211 I do product review videos and I edit out the bad parts but putting it all together is confusing sometimes because I need to cut out only small sections. I can do that but then I want to zoom in and back out, keeping the same size screen. Then speed up a section for the boring factor, etc.I saw the post about speeding things up, I think I can figure that out but putting all this together for a 1 minute clip is a small challenge sometimes. I also film with go pro and I catch too much width on background so when I try to crop it leaves the black sides and I want the full screen. Maybe I just have to dedicate more time to practice.
@@CarExpressions I'm no Gripps, but this might help with the Go Pro (or any other action cam) - Double click the clip in the timeline, Lens Correction tab, click the down arrow on Select Preset, and see if any of those choices help. Take care - Bill

Yeah the bugs and instability were an issue for me. I chalked it up to not having a high spec computer then went back to an much older version.
The older version was better, x9 think was the best.
@@gripps2211 it came with Corel graphics suite. Doesn't have near the features. More recently i use iMovie on Mac but that doesn't have the features either. Just not the same
Do you have any thoughts on Corel Pinnacle Studio. Pinnacle is supposed to be geared toward professionals. I wonder if the AI technologies is going to go to Pinnacle as as opposed to video studio.

What is the best alternative for Corel VideoStudio Pro 2022?

Just purchased it after having issues with lack of support from another company. Hope I didn't waste my money. On the installation as it was almost finished it stopped, waiting for support. I am tired of yearly subscriptions with other products. I really don't have a bunch of money to buy the higher end programs and needed something to get upto speed quickly.
Hello Sir, When I have to Export my worked video, it stops before reading and says "Unable to load library" how do I fix without losing my work. I edited a music video to be exported.
I'm just trying to edit video game content for a channel I'm starting. Is this software good enough for that?

I stopped with cvs because the truth is we have capcut which has its free part and davince resolve then we have filmora which is a very good program and cv's is the same with an I7 8 core computer and an Nvidia GTX 1060 so I think it is not normal that Corel does not provide support and does not listen to users
You didn’t mention the filters & plugins. Most are poor to terrible. You apply one and you get a pop-up window, most cannot be resized and the viewing window is too small. There is a separate timeline you cannot resize, a different set of keyframes with different parameters depending on the filter, various rules and settings apply to different filters. The Plugins are even worse than the Corel filters. Some New Blue filters have dials that you cannot control easily/precisely, you must type values in manually instead / “ Guess endlessly “ until you’re done because the dials jump no matter how hard you try to move them incrementally. One popup window doesn’t know what the other popup window is doing, meaning, if you added titles, color correction, etc, then add ripple to the corner as an example, the ripple popup window won’t reflect all the other effects, it just shows the original video with none of the other effects, titles etc. You have no idea what you’re doing in the filter window. You could enable all the filters to appear in the main window, but without a modern powerful computer, you can’t do it. It will glitch and stutter along. The filters need to seamlessly mesh with the programs interface, they don’t. It’s a hodgepodge of outdated filters Corel got on the cheap. And they work as such. Pinnacle Studio is a much better choice. 90% of the filters all use the main viewing window and editing controls. Corels a hot mess for advanced editing.
Good call. One thing I never understood, was why they didn't give us an adjustment layer, most NLE come standard.
The NewBlue filter dials are a nightmare. I love when I won't accept keyframe values. I had to use a seemingly unrelated dropdown dialogue and keep going in/out of the filter to get keyframd values to stick.
If it was not for the crashes I would still be using it.
I do still use the screen record on it.

Cool, I've used VS since its Ulead years. I know the application upside down and totally agree with what you had to say. Funny thou, cause even-thou I use Davinci for color correction, I always end-up finishing my wedding film shootings on VS. The Downfall of GoPro Hero Series & "Upgrades" is because THEY DO NOTHING about huge amount of complaints coming in due to it CRASHING ... The market share drops gigantic because of it ... I wonder if COREL is equally stupid!
Corel Videostudio x7 was fine, but since then it's not even worth using. I use a free Videostudio software and it kills Videostudio 2023 version. I can't say anything good about it these days. I wish I could get a refund, but that's not going to happen.
Stay away from this nightmare of a software. The program crashes all the time, lags when playing videos, had multiple rendering problems, one of the major issues is that the audio is out of sync with the video in final render, in addition to black flashes and frames out of place. I’m also not sure why there is no actual 60fps rendering, it lists as 59.96 which what causes the audio sync issues. The list of problems goes on and if any of you value your time and sanity, stay clear of this pos software!
Corel is Garbage, Complete Crap, and TOTALLY WORTHLESS.
i am an audio person with a DAW, and external interface.
all my audio settings in my computer are set to my audio interface, with that referred also to applications....But Corel Is Oblivious, And Has NO Audio Preferences I Can direct To My Interface....I could scream into my microphone until my throat hurts, and my ears are ringing, i still don't exist.
