I still want an 88-key version. 🎹
Not quite sure why companies still keep putting such small crappy screens on stuff when displays add almost no cost to a product these days
You know, that's totally true.
Agreed!!!!!
Thanks just brought 49 looking forward to using it
I love the video, even though I am not a music creator I have added you to my playlist on Spotify and love your music it is different and full if energy just like your personality in your video. Keep doing what you love and can not wait to buy your album soon.
🎹 🙌🏽🎶 I love all your demos!!!! Your music is amazing!❤️🔥
great, just great review. always sanjayc!
Great video SanjayC!
Thank you for giving us your honest opinion so we can decide what would be best for us. I appreciate that about your channel.
You are so welcome! Thanks for coming by to watch!
I have the FL Key 37 anf it's really useful, the new features on the FL key 49 and 61 seems really interesting
37 seems more portable as well. Oxygen Pro 25 has also smart scale features which FL key doesnt have.
Great vid as always! I have a seaboard block and a Yamaha cp300 that I use.
Hey,
I’m about to buy a new keyboard for fl studio. I’m looking at the Flkey 61 and the native Komplete control s61 mk2. Do you know if the buildquality and the feel of the key bed on the flkey 61 are on the same Niveau as of the Native S61 mk2?
Seems like a great keyboard!
Do you use FL? Do you think we'll see some competition from other keyboard companies to cover the Channel Rack?
You said you'd do it when I asked, and you've done it!!!Thanks so much Sanjay!!!You're awesome!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Yup! Its finally here! What do you think of it?
@@SanjayCawesome! Couldn't ask for better.. Though I have a question... As a pianist, You have the midi keyboards with you now.. Between the Arturia mk3 and FL Keys 49 Keys... Which would you recommend based on software bundles, keybed and overall usability for FL studio?
@@Munyudoit I like the Arturia Keylab Essential because of the integration with Arturia's software - so based on software, I would choose Arturia. But then again, I'm an Ableton Live user, and they've covered most Ableton features. For an FL Studio user...if you really like having hands-on Channel Rack control, you're going to miss it on the Arturia. Too bad one keyboard doesn't cover everything. You'll have to make a choice.
@@SanjayC thanks for taking your time. I pray your work prospers more and more Mr.C
Should I get this keyboard or the Arturia Keylab Essentials 49 i'd be coming from an akai MP mini mk3
It is a pity that the transport control buttons only light up in the mini version.
Any news on an 88 key version coming out?
I was waiting for it last year but finally bought the FL Key 37
What do you think of it so far?
@@SanjayC I use FL so its perfect! They updated the midi script recently and the integration is even better featuring third party plugins
Which third party plugins?
Epicc🔥 Novation did it again!
Thanks Behroz! How are you?
The other end of the usb cable usb c or 3? trying to figure out if I would need a dongle for this one.
I use fl studio with Novations Launchkey. Wouldthis be better?
I like the akai fire, the scale mode goes crazy
Hello mr Sanjay. I have a question about this Controller. How is its keys, does is make noise clicking when playing. Because i bought a lot of midi keyboards i threw them because of the clicking noise, because of the neighbours, they complained about it. So please inform me, if this midi does the same before i buy it. or recommend me to other midi keyboard if this one is not the right one. i need a midi keyboard that does not make any noises when playing. and thank you so much.
I use Fl studio as my primary daw and have novation mk3 mini.
is there a firmware update of FL for mk3 mini?
Waiting for the 88♥️🔥
The blank space next to the faders should be an XYZ touch controller, being a lot of the stock plugins use XYZ surfaces. Also, I wonder if I can use the internal arpeggiator from another keyboard to pass MIDI input to the FLKeys. Might pick it up as a base controller, but what would this be best paired with for the most control surfaces? Maybe the new Kaoss Pad?
I got the 49-key version a few months ago, and I love it compared to using my previous AKAI MPK49. Everything is very well integrated, and its nice not having to set all the buttons/knobs up every time I boot up FL Studio.
Im thinking why its so hard to put an on and off switch
Can we travel by plane with the 49 or 61 versions ?
Hey brother as always great introduction video! I just bought myself keylab mkii 61 and I love it except black keys are louder than white keys. After talking to a lot of producers and keyboard players and reading on forums I found out that all MIDI controllers have the same issue. How come it is not addressed more? It’s something that an update could fix over night.. Do you also have similar experience with velocity?
I was looking for a midi controller over the last several weeks and brought a few and took them back for different reasons. Some of them had this issue. You probably would have to get a Studiologic SL to resolve the black key issue as you can adjust the velocity on each key. I just got a Casio s100v keyboard to use as a midi controller. The keys are actually a little better to me than some of the midi controllers I sent back and the black key issue does not appear to be there. I still have some testing to do but I think I’m satisfied now for what I’m trying to do.
Can I use its full potential with reaper and Ableton?
Do the MIDI-Keyboards own a Tranpose function?
I use FL Studio with my Masterkeyboard "NI Komplete Kontrol S49" Mk1 the old one. Its great cause of Komplete. But i got also control of many Fl studio plugins. Its really great. If i want to upgrade sometimes i would go for the newer one. 👌
Thanks for the review. How heavy/weighted is the action on this keyboard? I've used the Nektar GX49 for a while and while I like it I can't play on it for long without my fingers hurting from bottoming out on the keys really fast. Are pretty much all 49 key controllers the same in this regard or do you think this or a different one would be an improvement?
the action feels really good quality, probably the best key action i've played on an affordable keyboard
Im using an akai fire and nektar 49LX+ Taking advantage of the script writing i FL I can browse presets and with the script they already have i can turn knobs and faders for the fun stuff. going to be upgrading to the nektar T6
i use fl studio 21 and I'm currently having an Yamaha i455 as a midi controller and i need something like these keys for a long time
Would be nice, if Novation, would release a 61/49 SL Mark IV. The Mark III is getting a bit dated. Didn't Sanjay think NI was releasing updated MIDI keyboards this year?
Oh yeah I need this in my life!!!!!
Yeah, its an awesome keyboard for FL users.
I use FL Studio as my primary DAW. My controllers are the Arturia Keylab Essential 49 and M-Audio's Hammer 88. I use many third party plugins, which I map as needed. Great video, love your channel!
This comment was really helpful cause I was wondering if it was possible to use FL Studio and still use third party plugins. Thanks!
You can switch presets in your plugins with the preset buttons on the left, but is that exclusive to FL plug-ins only or do they work for 3rd party VST’s as well
Very important piece of info that was overlooked. Does anyone have ny info on this one ? Thanks
Who knows how the keybed feels compared to the older novation keyboards? i have a mk2 launchkey 49 and the keys feel absolutely horrible, whereas i have a juno x and the keybed feels very very good on that
Does anybody know if you can get it in full weight or non weighted keys, instead of semi, ive heard semi weighted is not the favorite
M audio oxygen, I hate the pitch wheels. It starts to glitch the pitch effect in FL studio.
Would happily forego chord mode for poly aftertouch
Sanjay, do you recommend a place where people can sell or trade serial numbers for plugins we don’t use any more?
I did a plug-in clean up on my Mac the other day and I have so many plugins I don’t use lol.
Same here, I have lots of bits
Kvr vst site has a forum where you can buy/sell. I've done it many times.
Why connect flkeys 49 to a hardware synth?
Debating between the fl key 49 and the key lab essential🤔 I have the Arturia collection as well as the mini lab 3 but I love the fl studio integration the fl key has. At this point I’m just going to flip a coin😂
Very cool
Thank you so much for the Super Thanks, Acee! you are so generous!
Fl studio with keylab essential 61 mk3, the arp and scale modes are a bit too important.
I use them all the time. Especially when sketching things initially. It's just simpler to pick an instrument and just do the rest on the hardware. The added customisation of gate values and swing on arturia is pretty great.
you think is better the arturia keylab essential than the fl keys? Im in doubt wich one to buy
can u mess with fl studio plugins easily with the keylab?
I don’t use FLStudio; but if I did, I would consider this. I use the arpeggio setting with Kontrol extensively, so that would give me pause with these though.
Wow...I'm surprised to hear you use the arpeggiator a lot. You don't use the arp built into your DAW?
I use fl and fl only, which do u think is better the arturia mk3 49 key or the novation fl key 49
FLkey all the way mate
what happens when you click the "Custom" button. Does this allow to to map buttons, pads, sliders and pots to whatever you like in FL Studio? Would be great to know a little more about this (i've found the section in the instruction manual on this, but would love a little more info on it).
Likewise. A much needed info since i believe most people use 3rd party plugins anyway
@@gregtechno506 I actually own the keyboard now since my comment. the answer is, YES, you can assign the pots and sliders and pads to custom controllers within FL studio. these can be accessed by clicking the "custom" button.
@@Dj_lino-jj4qf excellent, thank you very much for the info. I am seriously thinking of getting it. Do you by chance have discord ? I might have some more questions after i do my research and check out everything. I am deciding between launchkey and flkey at the moment. Thanks again !
hiiiii Sanjay!!
fan from INDIA, Tamil Nadu
Uhhhhh I WANT THIS SO BADLY AHHH 😩
Novation has been my personal constant runner up for most of my time collecting gear; their products just look and feel so slick.
If I hadn't too long gotten my hands on an Arturia, some version of Novation's lineup would've easily been my choice.
Either way, sublime video presentation as always.
I appreciate that...thanks so much.
I use Maschine and a mouse.
I remember you said the launchkey mk3 keys are not the best, i expected novation so something like that with flkey as well but they improved it and it's a good news for me, i wanna side grade from launchkey61 to flkey 61
Thanks Sanjay
The Launchkey MINI keys are not that good. They really need to improve those.
It would be a major game changer if Apple made a controller compatible particularly with Logic, or if some other company made one only for Logic in mind. With Apple wanting a large part of control of design language, you'd expect an amazing screen with basically what a touchbar could do on the old MacBook Pro, but as an actual contextual screen for good usability and access. Imagine messing with effects and plugins straight on the keyboard screen itself, like EQ and the excellent GUI of the Logic softwares.
So true...it may even make me switch to Logic!! haha!!
88 key range?
I'd like a 88 key version of Novation FLkeys.
What I use right now, Is the Arturia Keylab 88 Essential.
is it good ?
should I get mk3 Arturia or Novation Mk3 ?
I mean 88keys
why do you want to switch to Novation?
is it Novation has better function?
I am so confused.
please answer.
I'm using M-Audio Code 49. I would not recommend it. The endless encoders feel cheap and don't register very well. The faders are pretty much the same. The drum pads are...eh. They kind of work, but they are very sensitive to where you hit them. Hit them dead center, and they work pretty well, hit them even slightly off-center, and they don't register at all. The keybed itself is okay. Nothing special, but it works. Honestly, I'd recommend buying separate keys and pads. That way you can get actually good pads and you can find your preferred keybed.
Using a roland a-49
🎉akai mpk mini 3❤...JESUS CHRISTIAN RAPPER.. LOVES YOU...
Well, if this keyboard was for Logic (instead of FL-Studio) and had aftertouch, I‘d buy the 61 version immediately. So I‘m probably waiting for the Arturia 61-key controller (not the Essential one), if they plan to produce that … Thanks for this overview. (GAD).
what about the launchkey, could you use it?
I just wish it had aftertouch!
Imageline: hey novation we saw u made a Launchkey for Ableton can we get one too
Novation: yea sure
Launchkey owners who already use fl: We'll just install the custom script 😂 😂
Rotary knobs and Motorized faders are the best. Especially Rotary knobs. I would rather mix with things that be reset regardless of their previous position. Same with faders. I find these things unhelpful when you load a new project with different parameters. Why don’t more keyboard companies make motorized faders and rotary encoders the standard?
Rotary encoders idk but surely motorized faders would be waaaay to expensive on budget keyboards.
M-Audio Oxygen 61
👍🏻✅
We want the Arturia Keylab 3. Lets go Arturia!
me
an intellectual
who has a midi controller that i'm happy with
yet i watch a review of a controller (which i don't need) that works with a program that i don't work with by a guy who i don't even know if i should trust or not
I dislike the fact we still get classical keyboards with black keys. This was a mechanical need hundred years ago. I dont like it. But this is just crazy critique. The Real no go is that it has no mechanical faders. It looks like a toy. Not for me.
I guess you can paint them on your own 😅😅😅😅😅, but I feel you bro
@@JarardKennethno it is not the color. It is the Design that you have keys that look smaller, like they wanna say not so important than the white ones. But Every key has the same value if it is Part of the scale. This little keys are a relict from mechanical design needs. But yeah, this is one of the reason why i like pads more. 😊
Looks cheap. No Motor faders. Looks like a toy for kids!
Motorized faders would raise the cost...Novation is definitely aiming at a certain price point with this keyboard. I love motorized faders, but I have a feeling that if people really want them, companies would make them. I just don't think there's a big enough market for them at a reasonable price point.
@@SanjayC Yeah, so it is a toy.
@@SelbstzensurI mean, you get what you pay for. Motorized faders are not always preferable
@@coolborndj truthhh
@@Selbstzensuryou're conceited...
You should have said Oxygen Pro has smart scale features tho
Probably going to get the 49 key one once I get more space. I'm using the Nektar GX61 and it's just alright. FL Studio just seems to have always had problems with midi controllers
Yeah, that's what I've noticed from other commenters too. Need more DAW-dedicated controllers
@@SanjayC Also, every channel in FL studio has its own arpegiator
