Glad you enjoyed this! FLkey doesn't feature an Arp. We found that a dedicated Note Repeat benefits more users than an arpeggiator, as there is a powerful arpeggiator already built into FL Studio, but not a note repeat. FLkey's pads map to FL Studio’s step sequencer allowing you to build beats fast. This step sequencer isn't something that can currently be used standalone, for hardware control.
Wish there was a dedicated pattern/song button..that would be very handy..a deeper integrated “61FL MK1” version with more premium well dampened keys would be a great studio centerpiece..more programmable buttons with screens/metering, a proper transport control and expanded midi capability..a flagship so to speak..I’d make that purchase immediately 💳🤓
It wouldn't be that difficult to "swap" one of the other dedicated buttons out for something like this. Which button would you lose (alternatively it could be a shift+anybutton)?
I'm having an issue using performance mode and I haven't seen it covered. I downloaded the custom component and changed the performance midi to 7 but I still can't trigger pads like I did on the launchkeys. Other than that it's a perfect device for me.
We're sorry to hear that you're having problems. It's probably best if you give us a call or hop on LiveChat so that we can troubleshoot this with you and provide a fix.
Yes, absolutely. In addition to being a powerful controller for FL Studio, FLkey can be used as a standalone MIDI controller, without a computer. If you have a device that converts MIDI to CV, it could work well with your modular/eurorack system. Connecting directly via the 5-Pin DIN output to synths and desktop modules also provides instant integration with hardware. When working without a computer, standalone features such as Note Repeat, Fixed Chord and Scale Mode will also be accessible. You can also use Components to create custom Note/CC/Keystroke/Program Change assignments for the Pads, Pots, Faders and Buttons. You can check that out here - components.novationmusic.com/flkey/custom-modes/new
Is there a way to audition instrument .fst presets through the browser like done at 43:05? For example, having a folder full of sytrus presets and vital presets and harmor presets, etc (.fst files) and being able to audition the sounds using the arrow pads/enter pad in nav. mode. Would I be able to play the sounds with the keyboard when stepping through presets? Thanks in advance guys!!
FL Studio doesn't appear to have that feature at the moment. You may want to ask the Image-Line team about this. Whilst existing audio files can be quickly auditioned from the browser, to audition a synthesiser preset, the associated plug-in would need to be loaded and it would need to receive MIDI notes to play the preset.
I’d love to see a version of this controller without keys at all. Like a Launchpad style controller with all of the pots and faders and shortcuts. For people that want the hardware integration but like to use their favorite keyboard (or no keys, I suppose). Yea, there’s the Akai Fire, which is cool. But a version of the LPpro mk3 for FL (built around the sequencer as opposed to clips) would be incredible.
When you're changing from Pattern and Mixer volumes, do the knobs and faders change position on the controller to where the actual levels are on the current selection (pattern or mixer)?
Not quite. FLkey doesn't feature motorised faders and knobs so these controls won't physically move to reflect the values in FL Studio. When you connect FLkey to FL Studio, it follows the Pickup (takeover mode) setting in FL Studio’s Settings. In Standalone mode, you can turn on Pot Pickup from the settings menu. When Pot Pickup is on, FLkey saves the various pages for the Pot’s states. The control only outputs MIDI when it moves to the position of the saved state. This prevents sudden jumps in the control’s value. When you move a pot, and it’s not yet picked up the value, the screen displays the saved value until you’ve moved it to the pick-up point.
That's Vegas Mode. If FLkey is left idle for five minutes, it enters Vegas mode. In this mode, colours scroll across the pads indefinitely until you press a pad, button, or key. You can also turn Vegas mode off on the Settings page.
