Memphy! I recently just subscribed to your channel, as I've been trying to dabble in EDM production--and this video was awesome! I know a little bit of music theory but this was great to see how different changes in chord voicing can change the whole vibe of a song! Thank you :) you are awesome!!!
It depends on the intention how you want to treat your chords. If I make chords to put it really far in the background, they will sound noob. But if the chords are really in front of you, they will sound like pro or expert.
I'd 100% say Pro chords to start with a lead filling in and adding the variation, then using the Expert for round two after the first drop with a second lead or harmony lead in addition to the first! Actually though, even though I know some music theory and been playing instruments and singing for years however, "just add notes where it sounds good" is the best advice for digital production that will be sticking with me lolol
Thank you man, I've been stuck at noob stage despite knowing some of music theory. It's just still quite gray for me on how to implement it, but your video make it easier for me to do so. Thank you
no everyone is melodically accustomed. my good friend is a rhythm wizz but cant hear a 3rd from a 4th. me on the other hand my sense of rhythm is borderline non existent but my pitch identification is on point. its all brain at the end of the day
I love you so much bro Thank you for all your useful tutorials, I have learned a lot from it and I feel proud to have known and seen your channel grow. I really appreciated your tutorials bro
Yo memphy you good? I haven’t seen you in 11 months. If you’re busy with university or work I understand but we have no idea what’s going on right now.
Najs I feel like I’m in between noob and pro cuz I use 7ths and 9ths sometimes, but half the time it’s just a triad + the root note up an octave Video suggestion: how to drum and bass in 3 minutes/420 seconds
@@Memphy Well I swear to god you had a Melodicstep version of the "how to make" videos with the end song previewing probably a video of seven lions on stage as you show off the end result like usual. I went through all your videos and didn't find it but you were the first to come to mind.
Fr I’m trying to make unique chord progressions (around hacker level lol) and then there’s people at the first level with the same progressions as everyone else getting millions of plays 😭 this industry’s fucked
@@rvrb_ chords aren't the only essential part of the song tho, you need the right sounds/instruments, the right drums, the right bass for it, and some genre don't even require any harmony so they might not even need those basic chords in their songs.
Hm, there are at least 2 levels above expert, reaching full flavoured 5-part counterpoint harmony with divisi at the top. You just have to listen to classical orchestral filmmusic like John Williams.
a real "pro" learns to play an instrument and does not hack notes in a piano roll, lol. But nevertheless, have fun. I like how you made the video, in part. the hacker-part. Very funny.
The Noob one is kinda Best I've got 😅
Ikr the noob is like the best sounding version of the 4
No way, the noob one was boring af
Then are tech house producers like me that doesn’t even use a single chord in a track haha
All you need. People have built entire careers on three chords.
@@TheCray100 Knowing extension is not because you NEED them. It's just fun to have more options to work with.

I recently just unsubscribed from you sorry
The pro chords are simply one of the most beautiful chord progressions ever in my opinion
NO NOT MUSIC THEORY!!! UGH! *proceeds to finish the video*
Ugh I know super annoying *subscribe*
tbh regardless of the level, the overall production still makes it sound lit

The fact that the “Hacker” level is harder to do than ACTUALLY making chords yourself 💀
and it sounds bad
@@dykstaticIt does lol
@@dykstatic it wasn't all that bad
very informative! good video
Man how i'd kill to have more full songs from this man. Oceans and Stay we're already awesome. Would love to see what he could cook up nowadays!

Epic vid! Some great advice to reinforce what I've learned over the years :D
Yo, the examples at the end were probably the coolest thing I’ve ever heard 🔥🔥🔥
I am enlightened finally.
Man you are the best. Thanks for sharing your skills
The most uncomplicated tutorial I have ever came across that has the best info for noobs to become experts really good music theory flick
You deserve more subs. These are amazing tutorials!

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AGREE
Agreed
Or just use Pilot Chords Epic Plugins and hit the complexity button few times to have it done for you. Then adjust as needed.
Hey Memphy ! Keep it up bro ✌🏻
I love you so much bro Thank you for all your useful tutorials, I have learned a lot from it and I feel proud to have known and seen your channel grow. I really appreciated your tutorials bro
I love how you edit your video about music theory, its funny and keeps me ingaged!!
Bought your course and so far im learning so much 🔥
Duroooo🔥, tiene sentido, cuantas más notas llenes los acordes más armónicos vas a crear, por lo tanto mejor va a sonar
Glad to see you again
Honestly when u make a drop that sick...it makes it difficult to choose ...they fit in soooo perfect 😅
Memphy where are you 8 months 😢 miss you
This opened a Door for me. tHANK YOU SO MUCH!
Harmony is the most fun part about music IMO.
This is sick man thanks for this tutorial 🙏🙏❤️
First like, then watch
The song you tried out for the chords should have a full version cuz you cooked so good in that one!
nice video man!! That voicing technique is good bro! 🔥🔥
Oh my god this video is sooo funny! Thank you for finally convincing me to take an interest in music theory lol
Imo they all sounded great
Seriously, after watching that hacker technique. I was like "what the hell was even that" 😂. After 2 sec that meme man came 😂😂....

Video suggestion: how to drum and bass in 3 minutes/420 seconds
Как всегда, лучший
I heard Esus2 and Esus4 many time in drill music like Big Drip
you make it look so damn easy and when u try to do this im stuck with empty project
it easier to count spaces between notes, so 2 between the bottom and middle, and 3 at the top or opposite depending
FCKING LOVE THIS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
All levels are different in their own way, but for me the favorite is the "EXPERT" difficulty 🔥🔥
2:29 That’s the same piano intro from Sky full of stars, only up a few notes.
bro deleted the Melodicstep video and the end result was one of the best ones.
I haven't deleted any videos, not sure which video you mean?

Yow the mix and layering on pro. Is different from the others levels✌🏽
Can someone please tell me the name of the technique he used in the drop to make the chords pulse or fluctuate, and where can I get that beautiful pad
