Same as how us Giants fans will always miss Sully. Some players and broadcasters transcend the rivalry and become respected in northern and southern California.
I was 5 years old when I first saw Willie play. It was game seven of the World Series against the NY Yankees; who won. I knew then as I do now what a special human being Willie Mays was. May he rest in peace.
My dad took me and my two younger brothers to our first ballgame in 1962 at Candlestick. The same team that lost game 7 of the WS to the Yankees. What an introduction to what would become my team, the SF Giants. Boch managed the teams that would make the dream of a Giant WS a reality. Through the good times and the bad times, always a Giant. Rest in Peace Willie, you started it all for me.
He definitely looks good but you can see him sort of moving side to side as he walks. Something in the lower body is giving him some trouble, suspect it's the same knee that caused him to miss the 2005 season but one never knows. Not that some leg pains are unexpected from a guy who played a difficult game at the highest level for over 20 years and nearly 3000 games.
He was amazing in any position , in any situation ! He was not only a great ball player but an icon of Americana ! Willie Mays to me represents the real American dream ! He rose magnificently ! Safe home Willie , I hope they have a nice park for you to play in heaven ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yesterday went to polo grounds where giant's and willie played now a housing project trying to figure out where center field was so I could stand in his spot 24 fly hi
I did that, and I'm pretty sure I got the right spot. I was at the Polo Grounds and witnessed The Catch in person. Standing there surrounded by all those buildings, I closed my eyes and it all came back. It gave me chills.
So sad to see Mike Krukow in a wheelchair. Was a consummate professional. Was fun to watch, even as a Met fan. Got to meet him in 1983 opening day at Shea. He was warming up and Mookie hit a practice ball into the bullpen. I called down to warn him that the ball was coming. He thanked me, signed the ball and tossed it up to me. Wishing him well battling his disease. God Speed Sir.
It didn’t hit until SF honored him that he’s actually gone. Somehow I wanna imagine Kuiper calling a Mays homer. MAYS HITS IT HIGH. HE HITS IT DEEP. MAYS HITS IT OUTTA HERE!!!! Baseball played how it should be played. #RIP24.
Giants got completely lucky tonight on 3 walks and a bloop hit in the 9th. Inning. Seems like half their wins this year is because the other team gave it to them.
Im sorry, but this was one of the worst tributes I've ever seen, it was very poorly done. Willie was a great man, and baseball player. My condolences goes out to his family. MLB could've done a better job.
Did they really have to do the black National anthem? That's where I stopped watching we're great Willy but continuing to divide the country will get us nowhere shame on the San Francisco Giants
Willie Mays wasn’t just a baseball icon. He was a living piece of American history. Fly high #24.
The best 5 tool baseball player ever! ⚾️🇺🇸
So well said and jolly well told -Back in NYC when Mays first broke on the scene,he was beloved by people who didn't know or care about baseball.
Absolutely ! ❤❤❤❤
Best MLB ⚾ Legend WM
Lifelong Orioles fan. Willie Mays will always be a Giant, in more ways than just the jersey he wore. Respect.
"Say hey kid"! The definition of a legend, rest easy Willie
Even as a dodger fan I will miss him. Fly high Willie
Indeed❤

Willie, you are beyond baseball and I will miss you! Thank you for being beyond baseball and thank you for playing for my Giants, our Giants!
Beautiful. Thanks for the memories Willie. I was so glad to honor him while he was alive and hope we never forget to honor him.
The Great Willie Mays
He lived a great life but this is hard.
Willie Mays will forever kive in our hearts & minds!

I played baseball in high school and college because of Willy Mays. Yes, my number was 24 too.
Say Hey Willie ! You knocked out of the park ! Safe Home Willie ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
22:18 - BB looks so freaking good. dude is the fountain of youth

The conclusion of Dave Fleming's opening comments were just spot on.
Rest In Peace Willie. My dad loved watching you play.
From one Harlemite to another: Rest In Peace Willie! The greatest.
I was a kid in New York when the Giants left. Willie was my favorite player and losing him was like cutting off a limb
More things like this. National day of mourning and celebration. Flags half mast. The say hey kid forever.
Wow, Kruko is getting worse. I didn't realize he had lost mobility. I remember him pitching in the late '80s. A very talented man.
Willie is baseball’s all time MVP!
24ever.
Long Live the King!
"The best there ever was"
Rest In Peace Willie Mays 🧡🖤🧡🖤⚾️Thank you for the memories

Juan marichal needs to be there
The Say Hey Kid gone to better pastures

They Honored NO.24 Willie Mays on the 24th!
He may have been the smartest baseball player of all time.
American GIANT.
Where's Jon Miller?
Boycott Disney
11:20 LOL! He just cussed!
he said jesus christ silly goose, that's no cuss
Interesting how Barry's best friend is a doctor............
If he didn't play at Candlestick and didn't miss two seasons because of military service, seems like he'd be the HR king to this day.
Agreed!
Bonds seemed upset by Duane Kuiper’s story about Willie..
Willie
Where the highlights at??? Taking hella ling
Now Kobe and Jerry west and now Willie mays….
Everything was good until the singing started.
What a gu #24 ❤ Forever!
I have to wonder at Willie really thought about Barry Bonds though ...
Leave it to youtube to have adds every 2 minutes on a memorial video. Sick people.
What happened with Krukow? Why is he using a scooter now?
He has IBM, which is progressive.
IBM stand for Inclusion Body Myositis, degenerative muscle disease, which as @thehaughtcorner said. is progressive

How many runs did the Cubs score off of bloop hits and walks????
You seriously came on a video honoring Willie Mays just to complain about tonight’s game? Show some respect.

Barry Bonds doesn't look too impressed....
Hes probably hurting inside because his god father Willie Mays passed
He’s mad that he got caught juicing
Im sorry, but this was one of the worst tributes I've ever seen, it was very poorly done. Willie was a great man, and baseball player. My condolences goes out to his family. MLB could've done a better job.
Bonds was in the dugout pissed that he’s not seen as the Giants’ all-time greatest player.
Edit: I guess it wasn’t obvious I was joking 🙃
that's a good posibility
You couldn’t be more wrong. Willie mays played with Barry’s dad and was his godfather.
Barry has always said willie was the greatest giant ever
He cheated the record books
What a terrible joke Richard
For God's sake, Flemming, SHUT UP! You babbled about NOTHING for six minutes! A terrible disservice to Willie Mays.
This was so boring 😂
Bonds was hanging around Willie while cheating the game of baseball the whole time!
Is that you, Lance Wrong-Strong?
Did they really have to do the black National anthem? That's where I stopped watching we're great Willy but continuing to divide the country will get us nowhere shame on the San Francisco Giants
Willie
Great tribute until that black lady started singing made me throw up in my mouth
They should give them Alabama & Mississippi and we’ll take the rest of the country for ourselves!
….and the racism lives on. Sorry, Willie 😔
