Simple. Mute the video then do a voiceover of the sounds you want, while having the people say the words when it’s recorded, then adding their lines back in using the voiceover feature.
Did you figure this out using iPad or iphone?

Click on the speaker button and then you will see the volume adjust button. Slide left and then you should have the background noises muted 😁

How do I add reverb and “edit” the sound which is already on the video. I feel like the description is a touch misleading.

Use video star!
No reverb on iPhone version…all you can do is adjust the pitch by detaching the audio and speeding up or slowing the sound clip (you may need to trim it or drag it to a new start point).
Other programs have it (but lack many other iMovie features). I believe the mac version of iMovie has it but don’t quote me on that

I make the exact same movie in duplicate…delete all the video and audio I don’t want…add a background (so it still thinks it’s a video)…and save that labeled as audio. Then to use it again, I just Add it to my new project and delete the blank “background” video I was using as a place holder. Then drag and drop it where you want in new video.
It can also be saved under Files on iCloud or on your iPhone hard drive

Excellent Tutorial. Just note than there is a difference between features on iPhone and features on iPAD. On my iPhone 8s I do not have the audio wave symbol which I can select to show the wave form of the sound part of the video.
Question: Is it worth to pay the money to buy an iPAD, Gen 5 for example, to make use of the extra functions the iPAD have more than the iPhone?
iPhone 13 version doesn’t either…think you need the Mac version to do this (don’t think iPad version has it either but I’m not sure). There are work around a but no waveform

Yeah just tap the music audio then split and cut where you need to. If that makes no sense I could do a video on it?
And all layers of sound can be dragged and dropped to play at different points in your video. Just start doing this from the beginning and only once you like how your video is cut (since the audio will stay at a time stamp from start..not necessarily in conjunction with your video

@findonknifesharpening I just ended up turning the volume on the background music at the beginning of the video to zero.
Another thing I did was just make sections into separate movies, added the audio then stitched them all back together.
I just want to add some reverb to the audio track. Is there any app for this?
Can't find help on this! Working on an iMovie and the audio in different clips keeps changing. I have one clip up to 400% (to see) and it's barely registering on the wave bar (extremely quiet). *IT WAS FINE EARLIER. Anybody??? Is it my computer? Should i ignore it and will it fix when I download/upload it? Much thanks!

Hi all. I’m having trouble with this app. I’ve compiled a video consisting of slowed down and sped up video with a voice over in various stages. Everything is perfect until I saved it to my phone. All of the audio is then messed up and and not synced correctly. I can’t rectify it and it’s really frustrating. Any reason or solution for this? Cheers
I had this happen when I had an outdate version of iMovie so try to update first. I also had a similar issue with that..and crashing when my iPhone had less than 5gb space left and it was an older iPhone version (when I upgrade my 8 to the current iPhone 13 with plenty of space available…updated the iMovie and iOS to current…all those problems faded away (pun intended)

Great informative video. Concerning the fading of the audio, is there a way to fade audio in different parts of the audio...not just at the beginning or end. Thanks.
Split the detached audio into too parts…it will still play fluidly if you do nothing else. Then you can fade in and out of each small clip..and adjust volume of each small clip. This allows you to add another layer of sound “ducking” to layer sounds.

I believe splitting the specific audio clip on the frames that you want, and lowering the audio will work
Hey Jaime! Great video, but didn’t quite touch on what I need help with. Basically, my friend and I are making a short movie for school and we have added in both a background music file and a voiceover, however when we add the voiceover, the background music fades and we can’t seem to fix that? We want the background music to stay the same volume throughout but it automatically fades down a little bit to make the voiceover clearer. How do we fix this? We’re on iPhone X :)
Split the background audio at the start of the video and end (in the section you don’t want “ducked”…or muted). Then increase the volume percentage on that above the volume percentage on the video clip. Play with it a bit and you can override the natural “ducking” iMovie does automatically. May need to adjust fades at front and back as well as on the previous section of background music
Mine doesn’t have the detach audio it only has the sound of how loud you want it

thanx for the video but I can't drag the green sound bar, it goes back to the beginning all the time... so not able to chose when the music starts and stops, iMovie puts it at the beginning of the video and not possible for me to move it.
Will this help with the proper dialogue syncing? because I made a video in which the syncing works well in iMovie but when I publish it on RUclips the syncing goes wrong
Oh that’s strange? It must be something to do when saving the file ready for RUclips? I wonder if you try saving as a different format or quality to see if that works?

One way U can sorta fix it is if u put into the Mac version of iMovie, one way is to airdrop it, and open it up and there are some sound equalizers and voice enhancement and many other tools

Great tutorial. I had figured out those features but the problem I’m having (on iPhone iMovie) is the sound level of all three layers.
Sometimes I’ll have the detached voice, sound effect and music set at different percentage volumes…to where they sound good in imovie (say 150% voice; short sound effect comes in at 250%, and background music is 110%). Now this sounds good in movie but when I post it on RUclips or TikTok…parts of the audio sound blown out. Can you explain what the cumulative percentage is? I thought it was 500%x3 but am wondering if the most they can total is 500% or else the projects sounds “blown out” at parts when posted.

@@crazyhomie1129 new KineMaster makes it easier…and I never set any volume to max anymore. I often blend 4-5 sounds and it seems to work on RUclips and TikTok now without the “blow out” sound

Than I lower the volume of the part of the track who’s actually under the scene in which I talk and when it’s I don’t talk anymore I do the same process but increasing the volume. Got it? This is my method
